Killybegs seafood shack
Killybegs
01/11/2024: Been a few times over the years which have been fantastic. However this time wasn't great since they moved location. Chips clearly frozen, fish ok but scamp was tough. Not sure what happened this time
29/10/2024: Very disappointed after hearing all the hype about this place, fish and chips were not great batter not nice ,scampi was the worst I've ever had in my life ,only ate two pieces as it was like chewing rubber it was completely disgusting and was clearly overlooked .Won't be trying again.

Boathouse Restaurant
Killybegs
10/03/2025: Very pleasant atmosphere, the waiters are very nice and smart, it was also very nice that the young waiter knows several expressions in Ukrainian 👍🔥 I recommend
09/03/2025: The best fish restaurant I've been to in Ireland so far. Really enjoyed it and admired chef's work. Fish was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and combined with mind blowing sauces. I would come here every weekend if we didn't live on the other side of Ireland!

The Fleet Inn Guesthouse & Restaurant
Killybegs
10/03/2025: Good food, friendly staff, I emailed to make an appointment and response was quick and easy.
10/02/2025: We love this place, it is THE PLACE to stay in Killybegs and we have stayed here three times now. The owners are incredibly friendly, generous, and accommodating—I won't go into how we found this out, but suffice it to say it rekindled our belief in human kindness and the generosity of the Donegal people in general. Super central location adjacent to the scenic port and great food both in the Fleet Inn itself and from The Boathouse (and sibling business The Fish Shack) next door. Personally, I think the Fleet Inn's chowder is a little more sophisticated than The Boathouse's! There's a pub/restaurant area on the ground floor where you can obtain the aforementioned chowder, other dishes from the sea and the land, plus all manner of beverages and it is a popular place with locals, and with the mariners when they are in port. Across the road is the excellent Wild Atlantic Crafts which showcases the work of local arts and crafts people.

Tara Hotel
Killybegs
01/03/2025: Room brand new and freezing - radiator not working. Aluminium window was leakinh cold air into the room. Major noise from carpenters and other tradesmen during my stay from 8am to 8pm. Hotelbwalls inna dreadful state with extensive signs of rain leaking into the building. Woken at 5am by loud noises from outside on the street. Only 1 smallish towel for (v good) shower. Had to pay 130 up front (v expensive) and couldn't add restaurant to the bill (the systems don't talk!!). I was on 3rd floor but most of the rooms were under construction on that floor. I felt I was in a building site. THUS HOTEL IS NOT FIT TO BE OPEN TO GUESTS
Avoid avoid avoid!!!
15/02/2025: Excellent hotel in the centre of Killbegs

Turntable Restaurant
Killybegs
18/09/2024: Been a few time in the Tara Hotel Resturant but the last time for lunch with my wife, the lunch was very poor.I had a fish pie which was almost devoid of any fish,in fact it was probably the remnants of chowder with a 2 1/2 inch topping of cheesy mash minus the cheese .My wife had a open prawn sandwich which consisted of prawn Marie rose with little to no sauce and pretty tired looking salad. To round it off we got a portion of chips which numbered about12 chips for the bargain price of €5.Wouldn’t recommend anyone to eat here, just about anywhere else in Donegal is better than this place, standard of cooking is shocking
06/09/2024: I used to eat here whenever I am in Donegal. It used to be really good food. Unfortunately things have changed. I was in recently for dinner. I ordered a salad. The leaves were rotten and slimy. What was delivered to the table was not what was on the menu. My husband ordered Fish and Chips. The fish was soggy and tasteless, the chips were terrible. You could taste that the oil from the fryer needs to be changed. Just very disappointed and not happy about having to pay for such bad food.
