The best restaurants in Killybegs

01/11/2024: Been a few times over the years which have been fantastic. However this time wasn't great since they moved location. Chips clearly frozen, fish ok but scamp was tough. Not sure what happened this time

29/10/2024: Very disappointed after hearing all the hype about this place, fish and chips were not great batter not nice ,scampi was the worst I've ever had in my life ,only ate two pieces as it was like chewing rubber it was completely disgusting and was clearly overlooked .Won't be trying again.

07/10/2024: Simple: great atmosphere, awesome food. I didn’t even want to drink water afterwards because I wanted the taste to linger in my mouth. The dishes are awesome, from beef, poultry and vegan dishes to their specialty: fish, everything was simply awesome.

29/09/2024: Excellent food, really nicely presented. Staff were very pleasant. Not at all rushed. Nice atmosphere too

19/10/2024: Delicious fish and chips! Also a tasty orange sorbet. Very professional, attentive staff. The chef is obviously brilliant. Gluten free options available. A clean, warm, spacious restaurant. Would definitely recommend and return.

03/10/2024: Popped in for a quick lunch and coffee on our travels. Served quickly, everything tasted great and was at a reasonable price too

21/09/2024: local customer and i usually go to mellys for a curry chip and i am normally happy with the food… this time was the last time for me. not only did the prices go up but this portion size is a complete joke! barely half full and way too over priced and i was still hungry after. if i wanted to eat the styrofoam box for my dinner i would’ve ordered it. very disappointed won’t be returning

10/09/2024: The battered fish and chips was delicious, crispy and generously proportioned. The onion rings were crispy and tasty as well. The staff was very friendly.

08/11/2024: We went for lunch at Tara Hotel. This place has a most beautiful lookout to the dock / pier. The seats with the view are worth going for as you can enjoy the food with a nice view of the dock boats and also if lucky you can have a peek of loading and unloading of fishes they caught. Other than the view the food here is just delightful and makes you crave for more. The quality and quantity of food served here is just right for a person to satisfy their cravings. The food was served fresh and hot within a reasonable time. The staff here were very friendly and welcoming. They also help you out to choose the best food from the menu and also suggest some of their favorites. Moreover the photos would give you a better picture of the food. We ordered chicken goujons wrap, chicken goujons on ciabatta bread, goats cheese toasties, ham and turkey, vegetables and mashed potatoes with curry on the side. The hotel is well connected to the road as it is on the main street itself. You can also easily find parking on the street or at the pier. You can also enjoy a short walk at the pier after the meal as it is just across the road from the hotel. Overall a good hotel to try out.
