01/11/2024: Been a few times over the years which have been fantastic. However this time wasn't great since they moved location. Chips clearly frozen, fish ok but scamp was tough. Not sure what happened this time
29/10/2024: Very disappointed after hearing all the hype about this place, fish and chips were not great batter not nice ,scampi was the worst I've ever had in my life ,only ate two pieces as it was like chewing rubber it was completely disgusting and was clearly overlooked .Won't be trying again.

09/12/2024: Delicious fish pie, and prawn on sourdough. Delicious coffee and plant milk. Friendly and efficient service. Ample parking suitable for wheelchair users n child buggy.
08/12/2024: Wa passing this place and decided to stop ,well this place did not disappoint,food was served pretty fast,so fresh and delicious,the atmosphere was amazing,definitely will be coming back ,very friendly staff,and you could see 2 chefs in the kitchen cooking ,for what me and my husband had I think it was a lot cheaper the the most places,if I was charged 10-30 euro more wouldn’t mind

06/01/2025: Have been coming here for 4 years. Always excellent and thoughtful fish dishes, and a superb sticky toffee pudding. Took a table of 11(!) on New Year's Eve and service didn't falter at all. Get a patio table in the summer if you can.
Wine list could probably be jazzed up a bit.
06/01/2025: Went to the Boathouse before Xmas with some friends. We all had Halibut which was recommended by the fantastic friendly chef. It was by far the best food I tasted in all of 2024 ! Service was excellant too.

The Fleet Inn Guesthouse & Restaurant

13/12/2024: Stayed for a night after visiting Slieve League. Food was great and staff were very welcoming and friendly. Location is very convenient and close to some cafes and shopping. Great value for the money. Stairs may be difficult for people with mobility challenges but they are very upfront about this when booking. Would gladly stay again.
09/12/2024: Uncooperative Manager, bar staff were friendly but inexperienced with big crowds. Very rude locals (nothing to do with the bar itself) but we received some nasty comments from local men at the bar. Will not be back.

01/01/2025: Just stopped here for a quick drink , lovely view over the harbour, good atmosphere 😁
17/11/2024: Me and my partner came here after a lovely day out. Fiona served us and her service was exceptional. She made great recommendations, was very accommodating and friendly. Great service all round. Will definitely be back soon.
The fish pie was on point 👉

30/07/2024: This place was so disappointing , It took a hour and 20 minutes for only two 4 in 1 to come after asking multiple times . Staff was very rude to us when we asked how long more . Chips and chicken were over cooked and removed prawn crackers .

18/09/2024: Been a few time in the Tara Hotel Resturant but the last time for lunch with my wife,the lunch was very poor.I had a fish pie which was almost devoid of any fish,in fact it was probably the remnants of chowder with a 2 1/2 inch topping of cheesy mash minus the cheese .My wife had a open prawn sandwich which consisted of prawn Marie rose with little to no sauce and pretty tired looking salad. To round it off we got a portion of chips which numbered about12 chips for the bargain price of €5.Wouldn’t recommend anyone to eat here,just about anywhere else in Donegal is better than this place,standard of cooking is shocking
06/09/2024: I used to eat here whenever I am in Donegal. It used to be really good food. Unfortunately things have changed. I was in recently for dinner. I ordered a salad. The leaves were rotten and slimy. What was delivered to the table was not what was on the menu. My husband ordered Fish and Chips. The fish was soggy and tasteless, the chips were terrible. You could taste that the oil from the fryer needs to be changed. Just very disappointed and not happy about having to pay for such bad food.
