10/06/2025: Our Bed and Breakfast host recommended this place to us and, wow, I didn't expect "pub food" to have such amazing seafood dishes! The food was beautifully plated and delicious. My only sadness was that we could not finish the metric ton of mashed potatos they give you :)

07/06/2025: Why,why,why do you serve the bacon ,sausage and black pudding chopped up? It is disgusting . What are you trying to hide?.
I live locally and would love to be a frequent customer but this really turns me off.
My husband and I decided to give you another try this morning. When he asked could he have the bacon,on the breakfast stack unchopped,the waitress explained,that's the way it comes. She did suggest he could skip the bacon and replace it with an extra sausage only to discover, when our plates did arrive, that EVERYTHING was chopped. I am sorry,this just gives off the wrong vibe.
I would love to know why any cafe thinks this is a good idea?
You have a lovely space the food is disappointing.

31/03/2025: Went here Saturday 29th March, 5 of us, all 5 had starters and a main, couldn't fit in desert, the starters were fantastic, 1 deep fried brie, 3 chicken tacos, 1 chicken wings
Mains were even better, 1 stir fried noodles, 2 chicken satay curry, 1 burger, 1 chicken burger
The whole meal was perfect, the service was amazing and there was a good feel to the place, we're pretty local but haven't been here for years but we'll definitely be going back, we all agreed it was the best meal out we've had for years, well done to all the team
09/03/2025: Absolutamente terrible establecimiento. Nos quedamos esperando a que nos sentaran a pesar de que solo estaba medio lleno y dos de las chicas que trabajaban allí se quedaron hablando y riendo en el bar. Cuando finalmente nos sentamos la chica se alejó inmediatamente sin preguntar si queríamos una copa mientras miraba el menú. Una chica diferente vino a tomar el pedido de bebidas y estaba tan desinteresada y grosera que decidimos irnos. No vamos a volver y vamos a disuadir a amigos y familiares de ir allí. Terrible atención al cliente y personal muy poco profesional.

20/05/2025: Went in today, had the Philly steak sandwich meal, with Coke my God in heaven 🙌 long time since I've had such tasty food. It's cooked to perfection and the service was amazing all staff members greeted me with kindness and smiles now that's unbeatable.

09/06/2025: I had a truly disappointing experience during my recent visit. I came in looking forward to trying the special cocktail tree, but was instead met with nothing but rudeness and unprofessionalism. When I politely asked about drinks, I was greeted with attitude and even shouted at across the bar—despite the venue being almost empty.
To make matters worse, the bartender refused to deliver the drinks to our table for no clear reason. What shocked me most was the poor hygiene: I witnessed her putting straws in her mouth before placing them in drinks, all while laughing and joking with her friends behind the bar.
The entire experience felt disrespectful and careless. Definitely not what I expected from a place that presents itself with any level of hospitality. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.
04/06/2025: On a short visit down to Carlow from Kildare we decided to stop off for a bit of lunch at this hotel. When we asked the waitress what the fish of the day was, we were told it was cod. When the meal arrived the so called "cod" looked like it had been thrown into the deepfat fryer for 2 seconds & the chips for an hour. The Lasagne was overcooked layers of pasta, with little mince but loads of cheese. When we complained to the Manager she apologised & said she had had the same complaints 2 weeks ago!!!! When we said any decent chef to produce that level of food to customers should be sacked, she agreed!!!!
Terrible food, bar staff just hanging around doing nothing only chatting & on their phones. Cant see this so called hotel being open for much longer as they will have no customers left. Next time we will be in Carlow, we'll go to McDonalds across the road!!!!

01/05/2025: I originally had given this restaurant a 5 star review on the back of having been there a number of times. However, having recently returned, I found that this place has dropped a lot in quality and service. I believe it has changed hands/under new management and it would appear to have gone downhill since then. Such a pity, it was a great place to eat and family friendly.
11/04/2025: Unfortunately, food was just ok and that's me being "generous". Service felt like we were back in 90s. Atmosphere was like a nearly closing down place. Huge potential in the right hands,but definitely not into whomever runs it now. I'm not the person to complain and haven't said anything while settling the bill (which was 74 euro for 2 people and not even a "thank you" received). Won't be rushing again to eat here,for sure.

07/06/2025: Visitamos el restaurante el viernes 6 de junio. Nuestro camarero que acababa de empezar a trabajar allí ese día fue servicial, pero tuvo que consultar con un miembro más veterano del personal cuando se le preguntó sobre el menú. Cuando llegaron los platos principales se podía oler un olor muy fuerte a aceite de cocina del pescado el olor que dice que no se había cambiado durante bastante tiempo, el pescado no era crujiente pero era muy grasoso. Las verduras que las acompañaban estaban solo parcialmente cocidas, no pudimos obtener un cuchillo para cortar el brócoli. El filete en el sándwich era muy duro y el vinagre balsámico se había hecho demasiado en la ensalada. Mi comida era tibia. Nos quedamos muy decepcionados ya que la última vez que visitamos la comida era excelente.
22/05/2025: Tuvimos un día fantástico en Rathwood en Carlow con el Club de la Amistad Delvin. De principio a fin, la experiencia fue increíblemente bien organizada y agradable.
El almuerzo era delicioso — fresco, bien preparado, y servido por personal amable que hizo que todos se sintieran bienvenidos. La zona de comedor era cómoda, y el servicio era atento sin prisas, lo que hizo que la comida fuera relajada y agradable.
Lo más destacado del día fue el encantador paseo en tren de Rathwood. Fue un viaje encantador a través de los bosques pintorescos, contando historias y un toque de magia que trajo sonrisas a los rostros de todos, jóvenes y mayores por igual. El ambiente era alegre y festivo, y fue maravilloso ver a nuestro grupo disfrutando de la experiencia juntos.
El personal de Rathwood fue más allá para garantizar que todos en nuestro grupo estaban cómodos y pasándolo bien. Fue una salida perfecta para un club de amistad: divertida, relajada y llena de alegría. ¡Ya estamos deseando nuestra próxima visita!

Rachel’s Garden Cafe
06/01/2025: Staff are lovely and friendly, great variety to suit everyone. We took the only available table and unfortunately we were right beside the doors which let in an artic blast every time they were opened but I would definitely recommend and visit again.
