11/09/2026: The seafood chowder was good, very generous with the prawns and mussels. But not quite as good as some of the more “fish” heavy chowders we’ve tried elsewhere. The wild mushroom rigatoni and chicken were quite tasty. The scampi was good. The portions in all instances were very generous.
Overall a nice experience.
The fly that kept landing on the table was kind of friendly. There are a lot of flies around these days.
Food only served 12-4pm. No dinner.
08/09/2026: Spent little over a week in Ireland traveling around County Cork and this was the best restaurant I visited. Fish and chips, chowder, steak sandwich, and the sticky toffee pudding were to die for; highly recommend!

21/08/2026: A very traditional, cozy, and rustic pub. The decor and countless photos on the walls tell a fascinating story. Many great live music evenings throughout the month (see the website for the schedule). During our visit, several guests joined in the music and sang along enthusiastically. A fantastic atmosphere. There's also a beer garden when the weather is nice!
03/08/2026: I don’t usually go into pubs to be lectured about contentious political issues happening 10,000km away… Our politicians are already doing a fantastic job of that! When I go into a pub, I usually just want to be served a drink. As a regular visitor to Clonakilty, for this reason alone, I will never return to De Barras.
Also, the male staff here over the long weekend were absolutely tragic and a total let down. Seemed as though they were incapable of serving the male gender for some weird reason.
One drink and done, never again 👋

19/07/2026: The food great here the have a student saver box. The sausages are all different and delishpus and so is there potatoes. the people make it too. Makes a huge difference when people are passionate about your food.
16/07/2026: We stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting Cork. My wife and children wanted to try it, and we weren't disappointed! The staff was very friendly, and the selection was impressive! The hot dogs were beautiful, large, and delicious!

07/04/2026: I've always had great fondness for this shop and I hope the future is bright for it.
Having said that, every time I go in lately there's been less and less on sale. No soup of the day, no wines to browse, none of a particular high-end frozen pizza that I became a fan of - and today evidently no ice-cream for sale at all!
So I report with sadness that I often come away empty-handed of late.

20/08/2026: Top notch fish and chips, fresh fish, crispy batter and the chips were excellent. My only gripe - no mushy peas on the menu! But that doesn’t detract, an excellent experience.
06/08/2026: Avoid walking in that door folks. €39 for chipper food for two people — soft drinks not included in that. I didn’t pay for it; but if I had known what my partner was going to be paying for it I would have taken the card out of her hand and walked out.
This place has definitely lost the run of itself with greed. €5.00 for a small chips. €6.50 for a portion of onion rings. At €39 for two people without drinks these are restaurant prices, and there are plenty of actual restaurants in the area. There are also other chippers in the area if you actually do want that kind of food for half the price.

12/07/2026: I visited this restaurant today with my wife, and we had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Everything was fresh and well prepared. We really enjoyed our meal and felt well taken care of. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back
