The best restaurantsof irish in Donegal

19/08/2025: We were lucky to get a table at Nancy's Barn yesterday (18/8/25) and what a delightful experience it was. It was very busy but the staff were very efficient and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and we all had a lovely meal. We would highly recommend a visit.

19/08/2025: Probably the best dining experience in the area. The service was excellent — friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout. Prices were fair, and the food overall was very good. We started with prawns and chicken wings, both of which were excellent. For mains, the steak burger was tasty and satisfying, while the goat’s cheese salad was unusual — the cheese came coated in a bread/potato-style batter, which may not be to everyone’s taste. That said, the quality of service and overall experience more than made up for it. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food, good value, and genuinely friendly staff.

19/08/2025: The best pint in Ireland! Incredible chowder. Crab sandwiches to dream about. And best of all the welcome is always so warm to our whole family, including the kids and our little dogs. There have been some changes over the 40 years I’ve been coming here but the feel that Teresa nurtured has never changed - it has always been a special place and I feel it always will be.

11/08/2025: Without doubt one of the nicest restaurants in donegal, it was our first time here and wasn't it a surprise, the service was first class from the meet and great at the door until we left. The restaurant was packed but our food came out so fast we were shocked because we knew it was busy and expected a delay. The food was as good of food that I've ate in donegal ,credit to the chefs, highly recommended coming here and well done for your good work 👏

11/08/2025: Outstanding experience. Very friendly staff serve incredible food in a beautiful space. Every bite was delicious. The seafood chowder is out of this world — chock full of mussels, prawns, fish, and a ton of flavor. Highly recommend!

09/08/2025: Stopped by Nancy’s and was blown away! The chowder was rich and full of flavor—one of the best I’ve had. The prawn sandwich was equally delicious, fresh, and perfectly balanced. Cozy spot with friendly service. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

07/08/2025: We phoned ahead as we knew we were going to be getting to the area later than planned and they straight away said they would squeeze us in if we got there before they stopped serving , made it woth 15 minutes to spare and we were welcomed and seated and what followed was an unrushed lovely homecooked meal , The chowder and the thai green curry were amazing , We were heading for malin head for the night in our camper but the weather changed for the worst and they happily allowed us to park up on site so we went in to the bar for a few drinks and had a laugh with the locals, Next morning it would of been rude not to go back in for a full Irish to start the day , again superb service and food , highly recommended.

01/08/2025: After two weeks in Co. Donegal this was by far the best food we have had all holiday. It is never easy catering for a vegetarian a carnivore and a pescatarian at any restaurant but it was no problem here and each noted how outstanding the food was. This is a first in over 25 years of travelling together. That says a lot

03/08/2025: Genuinely the most incredible seafood dishes I’ve ever had, you NEED to try here. Jo is an absolute darling too, everything about this place was perfection, make sure you book in advance to get a table Definitely recommend any of their king prawn & hake dishes, as well as their elderflower fizz

06/08/2025: Nice pub style food. Had a kids menu with easy things for going kids to order. I had the club sandwich and it was really nice. Service was quick and friendly

28/07/2025: Advertised vegan options clearly on their Facebook, the vegan all-day breakfast was one tomato, two pieces of toast (one of them burnt), quarter of a tin of baked beans and some mushrooms. Paying the price for a main dish that is the size of a starter and you could make at home in 5 minutes for less than €5. No-one came to check if everything was okay with our meals and then we had to ask them to clear our plates after we had finished because they took so long. The atmosphere was nothing special, the music was just the radio playing the same overplayed songs as always.

03/08/2025: Dinner in the Bridge bar last night was a wonderful experience,friendlyl barman downstairs started us with a drink.We were then welcomed upstairs by very professional,interesting looking ,well informed,cool staff!My scallop starter was delicious,followed by prawn risotto,affogato and coffee.Food was very tasty,a rarity these days,reasonable priced for what we got.The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming,despite only being able to aquire an early booking,so myself and my 3 friends ate solo.I can't wait to return!!

01/08/2025: This place is absolutely wonderful! The bar downstairs is perfect for a pre- or post-dinner drink, and the restaurant itself has a fantastic atmosphere. The food is truly exceptional, definitely try the specials. Our server, Seamus, provided incredible and personal service and it's super clear that the team there are passionate about what they do. We will be back. ❤️ Tip: take the bus and enjoy your wine without worrying about driving. We took the bus from Rathmullan, and it was a great experience. The return fare is just €3! You can also catch the bus from Letterkenny, and the driver was super accommodating – he even dropped us off right at the top of our road.
