The best restaurantsof irish in Donegal

14/06/2025: We hadn't booked and thought we would chance it while passing and the staff where more than helpful. Got us in no bother and we where served our food in good time. The chef came out from the kitchen with little sample soups that tasted so good and chatted with us. Starters were beautiful and the mains were perfect, portions where just right. Deserts where served so well also presentation was 10/10. Staff and service outstanding.

13/05/2025: The girls and I visited The Ubiquitous Restaurant Buncrana on the busy May bank holiday, and it was an absolutely fab experience from start to finish. Despite being quite busy, the atmosphere was great, had an amazing buzz, and the staff couldn’t have been better, they were very attentive, friendly, and super welcoming. The food was to die for, very well done, really good quality, generous portions, plus such good value for money. The cocktails were easily the best I’ve had in town. Really excited to go back for literally any occasion I can—highly recommended!

06/07/2025: We arrived here on Sunday without a reservation. We were very lucky because we finally got a seat, but it might be worth booking in advance. The place is very pleasant, the staff was constantly working on the service, it seemed that they were paying close attention to everything. The food was divine (OMG), and plentiful. Many small additional dishes made the dinner even more enjoyable. I would gladly come back here 🥰

31/05/2025: Great food. Most of the group had pizza. The beef stew and potatoes (other than fish and chips only one of two or three menu items which could be considered Irish) was very good. Our friends treated so not sure of pricing. Interior decor is eclectic but cramped. No view of beautiful Foyle as it is situated off and perpendicular to the beach.

17/06/2025: Anyone traveling in this part of Ireland should definitely eat here. It's not more expensive than most pubs in the area, but the quality is significantly higher. A genuine fish restaurant with great dishes, but everything, as is typical for Ireland, is very relaxed and informal. Reservations seem to be absolutely necessary, though.

12/06/2025: Great meal out (pre-booked!) for a family birthday. The staff were very attentive and all very polite. There were clean plates all round (we ordered the trout, steak, chicken and monk fish, plus starters and dessert). It was a nice touch for the staff to sing happy birthday to one of our family members, with a lit candle in their dessert. Recommend and would happily return if we visit Killybegs again.

08/07/2025: Lovely place to stop off for lunch, very friendly staff and great service, had it done up very well, the food was very fresh and their soup was homemade and very tasty, will definitely recommend and stop there again, thank you.

11/07/2025: We patronised the restaurant only (not the hotel). It was our only nearby option at that time of evening. Im not sure the name of the room we were seated in, but there was absolutely no atmosphere. Tables were awkward and uncomfortable. Then the food we got was appalling. Complete lack of seasoning in the most basic of dishes. Texture was also very off. I will say the staff were generally pleasant.

07/06/2025: Omg is there a over 5star rating that i could give to this cafe...Oh my god the food is so so so tasty...I wish they open a cafe soon in letterkenny ..i have gone literally crazy for their food.. we were visiting errigal zoo and wanted to visit a cafe to eat something and stopped here and i think that was the best ever decision... we ordered kfc tenders the tenders are so crispy so tasty well cooked even their chips were so yummy.. and their garlic mayo ..the yummiest mayo i had in my life so smooth so delicious.. Fish and chips were also so good... I think everyone should visit this place...❤️ Last Fionnuala she is so welcoming so calm so down to earth..such a sweet spokeperson.. pls open a cafe in letterkenny soon 😅

It’s not a real vacation unless we’ve had at least one meal (usually several!) at Charlie’s. The food? Absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and always hits the spot. The portions are generous (no one leaves hungry!), the cakes are homemade and heavenly, and the coffee? Strong and perfect – just what you need after a Donegal walk or drive. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the staff makes you feel like family – always smiling, helpful, and up for a friendly chat. Charlie's is more than just a cafe – it's a place with heart. Whether you're a local, a tourist from abroad, or a regular like us, you’ll feel right at home. We recommend it 100%! 25/05/2025: Astoundingly good. Superb dining experience, staff are excellent and the food is exceptional. This is not a place to go for ‘ordinary’ food, it is really fine dining done very well. Small wine selection but perfectly chosen to match the food. An unexpected gem of a restaurant which we will return to. Brilliant, well done.

10/06/2025: A really lively meal, good sizportions too. The Sirlion on hot skillet with stir-fried vegetables delicious. Goats cheese and chicken and pesto was a strange combination, especially with BBQ sauce over it!

17/06/2025: Came in here on a whim as hungry and not familiar with area. Food is absolutely amazing, I had the breakfast bagel with skin on chips which came out in no time. Very tasty, not too expensive either, would definitely go back if in the area
