08/05/2026: Dining at The Cottage with family was a wonderful experience The staff and food were par excellence! Go and enjoy if you happen to pass by - you won't be disappointed!

29/03/2026: Nice little restaurant. Service was great all round. First course pâté was the best I've had in a long time. The scallops were perfectly cooked, went well with everything else on the plate, and the roe was left on (ideal). The lamb pastry and the crispy coconut rice dishes were very nice. The inconsistency in the size of the garnish on the rice was a bit weird though and felt unfitting. Halibut dish was alright. Every element of the dish was amazing, except for the halibut itself. Just a bit plain and a bit overcooked for me. Guinea fowl was lovely. Poached pear dessert was amazing. The baked Alaska was world class. Good portion sizes. I see myself returning

17/05/2026: Attentive service. Gluten free options available with excellent quality and generous portion sizes. Great selection of beer and wine to complement the meal. What a gem of a find. Hope to return.

11/05/2026: Had a lovely meal there on a Sunday evening....beautiful spot, with a welcoming log burner and warm and friendly host Roger. The food was excellent...my friend ordered the meat platter which was ginormous and tasty...the generous portions of lasagne that my other friend and I had, were very satisfying after a boat trip out amongst the islands on Lough Key. Can't think of a better way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon in May... highly recommend! Cheers!

03/03/2026: Unfortunately I'm unable to rate this venue as when we arrived it was closed. The bar is open but food is only served Thursday thru w/end. While we appreciate that customer is quiet this time of the year, it's not really too much to expect the information on line to be updated. So disappointed

24/02/2026: Absolutely brilliant spot for lunch/coffee and bring home your dinner too with their full range of homemade bakes - quiche, scones, tarts, potatoe bread, the list is endless. High quality dine in or take away. The standard of yhe food is wholesome healthy tasty goodness! The staff are attentive and excellent! Its a must if in Castlerea!

03/10/2025: Tried out the Pepper Mill after a local recommendation. Found it clean, friendly staff and food was great. Coffee was nice too. Will be back.

30/04/2026: Always busy naturally got a superman's chicken roll which was cold as were the few chips included in the meal. Appreciate its fast food but it was not good.

11/05/2026: After a wedding, we only spent a few hours at this hotel to get some sleep. It is a cosy, rural and clean hotel with very friendly staff. We can’t comment on the food or other facilities, as we had to leave before breakfast was served. We would nevertheless like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the hotel for its service. In the rush, my wife had left her jewellery in the bathroom. We sent an email to the hotel and the jewellery was posted to our home without any problems. Thank you so much once again for this.
