The best restaurantsof irish in Waterford

16/05/2025: Pub is dark and in need of serious upgrading. Interior is depressing and looks jaded and dirty. Toilets (male) are smelly, door locks not working and wood panels displaced behind toilets are filthy. Food is awful. Fish and chips… watery fish within the batter. Overcooked. The accompanying salads were tired and not well dressed. The burger was presented with a steak knife stuck through the top of the bun (maybe it wasn’t yet dead!!!) The patty was over compressed and had the texture of rubber. No seasoning whatsoever. The bacon with cheese on top was incinerated - not good. A word about chips…. NEVER fry chips in oil which has had fish in it already, particularly if having a burger. They were fishy. I would not recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone. There are better establishments in the centre of Waterford. The days of being served food of a quality less than what you would cook at home are long gone!!! I really thought the days of establishments like this were long gone… obviously not.

24/05/2025: had a lovely stay in the townhouse 🏠 which is located right next to the water! the dinner was fabulous - for mains, we ordered the ribeye steak (& mash) and grilled seafood which was delicious, and the chocolate mousse was amazing too! the service was great, the staff were very professional and welcoming.

18/05/2025: Excellent service at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. All ingredients were really fresh and high quality. The slow cooked beef was delicious. Location is central and convenient for shops etc. We were lucky to get a car parking space for free in small car park opposite the restaurant. Accommodation in the townhouse is only 2 mins walk away. Compact and spotlessly clean. Perfect for a short stay. Would highly recommend for a special treat.

05/12/2024: Very disappointed with the way a member of staff treated me. Very rude to me for absolutely no reason. I’d have no interest in going out of my way to be rude to a stranger.

09/11/2024: Really great spot with very attentive staff. Apologies again for knocking that table of cocktails. As I said at the time to you guys and Garda McGrath, the DJ has to take some responsibility for my dance moves when his tunes are so banging.

16/05/2025: Extremely bad experience. I’ll never be back again. I ordered French toasts without bacon and oat milk capuchino. The coffee is HORRIBLE, bitter even in a capuchino. Bad quality definitely. The French toast was a basically just toasted bread and was chewy. I have to pay €17.35 for the most horrible breakfast I ever had. I was robbed!!!! Never again for me.

10/04/2025: Can’t say enough good things about this place. Was in Ireland on holiday from the States with a friend and even after visiting numerous great pubs and restaurants around Ireland and Northern Ireland, we thought this one stood above all the rest. Incredible service and hospitality, wonderful food, great drinks, and a fantastic atmosphere. A trip to Ireland isn’t complete without a stop in Waterford and a trip to Waterford isn’t complete without a stop at Oskars. Can’t wait to come back!

05/04/2025: Don't go there. There will be a bouncer, who is a short, generic, easily forgettable bald dude, who will pick on you, everybody else will be ok, except this one dude who will pick on you, even tho you are ok, cause no problems have friends inside, he will bully you, trying to escalate a fight, and if you don't fight, because you are ok, he will call garda on you. One dude!

26/03/2025: Food was good enough but waiting an hour for it was not me and my friends waited a whole hour to get our food no proper apology just an excuse saying it didn’t go to the kitchen.

16/04/2025: An amazing gem of a restaurant, with a fantastic view of the sea! Great menu & beautiful food. Fish very fresh. Dessert was homemade & delicious Staff were very friendly and helpful Would highly recommend this restaurant

01/12/2024: Visited here twice in a few days a sir was so good and one of the only restaurants open in tramore in November midweek. Open from Tuesday at this time. Great food. Delightful staff and lovely wine list.

13/04/2025: . Worst food I have ever had .partner ordered steak and wasn't asked what way he would like it cooked. I ordered steak but it ended up a stew and was full of salt . Veg was the worst and the chap that served us had no manner and explained after the order went on that mine was a stew even though I asked for pepper sauce with it and still didn't explain it was a stew . Never again

12/04/2025: Lovely pub experience. Food was very tasty. Service was great! The ambiance is second to none. You could spend hours exploring. The portion sizes were more than fair. The food was fresh, hot and incredible! We just need to educate Bobby on one important fact: saying a Canadian is the same thing as an American is like saying an Irishman is the same thing as an Englishman. Hopefully that gets the point across.

21/04/2025: Clean room for £80 per night, friendly staff and the location couldn’t be better. The hotel could do with a bit of renovation etc but it’s more than reflected in the price!

20/04/2025: Want to start by saying that I have been to Happy House many times before and always had a great experience with great food. This time my order was wrong. When I rang back to advise I had received the wrong dish, I was told to bring back the dish that was incorrectly given to me. I did so and when I was given the correct item of my order there was no sorry, no free can or anything. To top it off the food was poor and I definitely don't think it's as good as before.

20/01/2025: We had a pre lunch drink in Murph's Bar.After sitting at a fabulous open fire and pre lunch G/T we walked around the corner to the Beach House.The fish was delicious ,Lemon Sole and Haddock served with chips. Our starter was crab which was served with traditional homemade soda bread and salad. I had a chilled glass of Sancerre and our young guest enjoyed a Sicilian Lemonade.Thanks to all we will be back soon.

15/04/2025: Great location, but we were waiting almost 20 minutes for a cup of tea and the place was filthy. No vegan options.

07/03/2025: The staff have lost all hope, I think the next me who served me needs a good boss to put done life into her. The breakfast was great and she made me a lovely coffee, but it was very expensive. It is due to high rents & rates though, the place is looking worn out and tired sadly. But if you don’t own the property and the landlord is the only winner, you don’t have much hope sadly.

21/11/2024: We had a lovely Sunday lunch, it was warm and cozy in the restaurant. The Irish stew and Roast dinner were both excellent. It was overall a nice experience. The food was hot and the Chef even came out to say hello! We will recommend to our Irish family and friends. Definitely a stop on our next visit.
