The best restaurantsof irish in Waterford

01/11/2025: I had a blue cheese burger with caramelised onions ,salad and chips. The caramelised onions did not taste like caramelised onions ,the chips were mediocre and not too hot. The miserable bit of salad that accompanied the burger consisted of a watery tomato.and a few leaves.I know it was very busy on Friday 31st October. I won't be returning in.a hurry for the food.I must say the staff were wonderful and very helpful.

28/11/2025: People generally enjoying themselves. Service was poor at bar including manager who couldn’t be bothered. Food was very late and cold. Many empty tables despite the excuse being “very busy”. About average for a corporate tourist trap.

26/11/2025: In connection with our visit to Guinness Storehouse, we decided to have our lunch here. It did not disappoint 😁 the food was just delicious and tasty 😁 recommend to visit here for some food. Of course we had a Guinness beer to go along our food 🍺👍

26/10/2025: For years it was best fish and chips. I always think about this as reward after trip. Today it was so under average… fish was super greasy and burger was one of the worst I ever eaten… would prefer McDonald cheese burger… Not sure if staff changed, bad day or some cost cutting but definitely not worth visit. Will give it one more try in few months to check if it’s back to glory but doubt it…

17/11/2025: Updated: Your explanation is extremely dismissive and does not reflect what actually happened. The receptionist initially “kindly” allowed me to charge my phone in the lobby. If she genuinely felt this was inappropriate or that we should have moved to the bar area, she should have said so from the start. Instead, she returned after a couple of minutes and made a comment that was unnecessary, offensive, and discriminatory “Our guests want to feel safe when they stay here.” This implied that my sister and I were somehow a threat, despite sitting quietly and doing nothing wrong. To claim this was due to a language barrier is absurd, she spoke exceptionally well, and her words were clear. This was not a misunderstanding,it was an inappropriate and offensive comment. A vague apology for my “distress” completely fails to address the seriousness of what occurred. Framing this as a procedural issue is dismissive, insulting and an outright joke. The response you provided is a disgrace. As a company, you should be ashamed of yourselves for trying to dismiss and downplay blatant discrimination and offensive behaviour. I expect the hotel to acknowledge the gravity of this situation and take meaningful action to ensure no other guest experiences such treatment. Anything less is unacceptable. Initial review: Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. Although my encounter with the receptionist was brief, it left a lasting negative impression. Last week, while waiting for my bus back to Dublin outside the hotel, my phone had died, so I went into the lobby and politely asked the receptionist if I could charge it. She agreed, and I plugged it in. Not even two minutes later, she approached me and said, “Our guests want to feel safe when they stay here,” before asking my sister and I to leave. We were simply sitting quietly in the lobby, charging my phone, and doing absolutely nothing wrong. To be treated this way and racially profiled in 2025 is honestly disgraceful. Because I can guarantee that if I didn’t have the skin colour I have, things would have never unfolded the way they did. Her comment about guests wanting to feel safe made it seem as if we were some kind of threat which is honestly deeply offensive. What danger could we possibly have posed by simply charging a phone? I would never expect such discriminatory behaviour from any hospitality staff.

16/11/2025: Exceptional Hospitality - Dooley's Hotel Dooley's Hotel exceeded our expectations! We stayed there as part of our CIE tour, and the service was top-notch. The hotel organized a special dinner for our group, and the chef personally came out to greet us and shared the bread recipe - that's some serious hospitality right there! Highlights: - Warm Welcome: Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere - Delicious Food: Tasty breakfast and dinner options - Excellent Service: Staff went above and beyond Tips: - Book ahead, especially for dinner - Try their breakfast - it's a great start to the day - Don't hesitate to ask staff for recommendations Dooley's Hotel is a hidden gem in Ireland. We'll definitely be back!

05/11/2025: My partner and I spent three days and two nights here. We were delighted to find this hotel, its view, the warm welcome, the smiles, and the friendliness at every moment. What's more, we were lucky enough to have almost exclusively beautiful weather. The meals were generous and delicious. Thank you again for allowing us to have such a wonderful time with you!

27/08/2025: I couldn’t recommend a better restaurant. The atmosphere was superb, along with the service. Not once did we have to call anyone over or struggle to find staff. Staff were extremely attentive and continually checked in. From starter to dessert the food was amazing. Not only does it taste good but the quality is evident throughout. The only thing I regret is sharing my food.

04/10/2025: Visited on a saturday nights with my partner. Friendly, welcoming staff & cosy atmosphere. Not a great choice on the menu unfortunately. Either seafood or 1 steak dish. Expensive & probly suited to seafood lovers.

20/09/2025: Do not come here👍🏻My partner and I were welcomed to a cold room with a hostile atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant although it certainly did not combat the awful food. If I was to describe it in 3 words I would say frozen, cold and inedible. I left the Saratoga quite upset as I remember it as a wholesome pub with comfort food😕, now a money racket with 0 atmosphere!!

17/09/2025: My son and girlfriend stayed here recently. No taxi service, local link buses didn't stick to timetable, room was nice and clean, food was tasty. No staff available till three, no management to be found. No breakfast available, was atrocious. Maybe a good stay in summer months. But definitely don't recommend.

When we called around 6 p.m. to ask for a room, you kindly offered us a lovely one. The food and breakfast were absolutely delicious, and we truly had a wonderful stay. 13/09/2025: Sometimes the Nurturer needs nurturing. And boy did I pick the right place. Mary, Ina and staff gave me the warmest welcome and went above and beyond to make sure I had a lovely stay. I'd like to say it was home from home, but home was never like this ! The food was amazing. They didn’t skimp on quality, only the best of ingredients and plenty of. The fry was amazing in the morning. The rooms are lovely and homely, with extra amenities, water, tissues, shampoo, gel, big fluffy towels etc and most importantly with a big JACUSSI bath in each!! Omg I didn't realise the jets could be that strong and effective. My aching muscles thank you Hanoras Cottage. Left there so relaxed and refreshed and ready to face the world/kids again. Can't praise this place highly enough. Contact them for a break. Mention my review if you like. They have great rates. You deserve it.

14/09/2025: Just back from a lovely 2 night stay in the townhouse. The bedroom was lovely. The dinner was a really lovely treat, staff very nice and service was excellent. Breakfast was beautiful. Only 1 issue- you check in at the restaurant and the townhouse is accross the road from it. I think that might be useful to have on the website and also limited parking close to the townhouse. Dungarven a lovely place to visit with lots of pubs and great food choices. The tannery is very central. Visit Merrys & Nagles for drinks. Dun for pastries and Isabelles place for quirky shopping. All within a few mins walk of the tannery.

02/09/2025: Really fine dining experience! Went there for my birthday and everyone enjoyed the experience and having good food! The best was the crab crème brûlée, it was chef’s kiss along with the desserts 🍨
