26/02/2026: Discovered this by accident but well worth the find, casual atmosphere but extensive menu varying from fish cakes with lovely salad, lamb kofta wrap & Quesadilla!! Very friendly staff Interesting cake!!

02/02/2026: You'll never experience a better bar than this. Great craic had by all before and after Dubs game. Great pints and great wit on both sides of the bar. This is what all Irish pubs should be like. Mick and the lads behind the bar love the craic. Don't be shy, be respectful and think on your feet, and you might even get one on the house. Definitely worth many more return trips. One of the highlights in Castlebar. Cash is 👑

08/11/2025: I was visiting Castlebar from the US and Mick could not have been more welcoming. I also ended up stopping in during the day to ask for directions and a different barman was also extremely hospitable. It's a very positive feel here, not to mention a top notch pint of Guinness. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

08/02/2026: Fantastic food. Best brunch I've had in Ireland and I've had a few. Just had the Turkish eggs and they have set the bar for quality and taste. Do yourself a favour and come here. Well worth a visit.

04/03/2026: I’ve heard this place was excellent however it was a big letdown today. We spent €60 and it was the furthest from anywhere near the quality. Those chips were cooked multiple times very obviously, rock solid, on every dish (4 of us!) the cutlery was so dirty I had to return each of them (again 4 sets!!) even the replacements were dirty. When I handed it to the girl I didn’t even get a reply just silence as she handed me more… as she brought food over to the table it was ‘thrown’ down onto the table with no care and no customer care or service at all. My grandmother and family go here fairly often and brought me today to try it and such a huge letdown. Really disappointed. I understand having a bad day but it’s not the paying customers faults. I will not be returning or bringing any more customers here.

06/02/2026: Outstanding meal in Bar One. I had the beef short rib and it was absolutely superb, beautifully tender, packed with flavour, and clearly cooked with real care. Comfort food done properly, using quality ingredients and executed at a very high level. You can feel the experience and pride behind the food here, and the service matches it. A brilliant spot that consistently delivers. I’ll be back.

26/02/2026: Very good food and great setting. Food is some of the best in Castlebar with a price to match but it’s worth it for sure. Staff are very good and attentive and you feel valued by them. One minor suggestion I would have for the owners is to change the had dryer in the bathroom to paper towels. Hand dryers aren’t that hygienic and the restaurant would benefit from an upgrade

23/02/2026: We popped in and fed 8 hungry boys for my sons bday. The staff were amazing. Nothing was a problem. Food was great and served quickly. Thank you for being so accommodating.

08/11/2025: Wow! An amazing hotel and 10/10 hospitality from the staff. Traveling with a baby can be nerve wracking but the staff at the hotel did everything to make our stay comfortable and kid friendly. Will definitely be back.

06/11/2025: One star off for instant coffee sachets in the room and a tin pot of coffee at breakfast I.e no decent coffee to be had. Otherwise decent hotel.

21/09/2025: I was very happy to discover this book shop and café. We had great coffee and tasty scones upstairs.

29/07/2025: A fantastic shop with a great selection. Big shout out to Aoife who was fantastic helping me to choose a perfect gift for a difficult person to buy for!

12/10/2025: Had breakfast here yesterday. Really gorgeous. Service very quick even though it was busy. 3 of us left there full and very happy. Looking forward to a return visit

18/09/2025: What a gem of a place, we’d been to the Deli the day before and bought some granola and flour, and had a take out coffee, so we were really looking forward to a late breakfast at Café Rua. First impressions were a fantastic welcome and real friendly people, nothing sham or pretend here. What a great menu, absolutely something for all tastes and dietary requirements. The chorizo, spinach and sautéed potatoes, topped with 2 perfectly poached eggs and accompanied with chilli relish was excellent. Real fresh orange juice was delightful, and the coffee? Epic! What a fabulous way to spend time being looked after in one of the best cafés I’ve visited.

31/01/2026: This is were all the cool kids go... of course I noticed it was the kids of the 90s. The best generation, But still cool nonetheless. A great bar with some great cool hide away tables. This allows for decent chats and socialising, not provided by Bridge St, you have to bring your own. Normally Irish bars have live bands, no shade as the kids say. But sometimes you want a bar with a great selection of drinks and to be able to speak to the people on your table. This is the place. Staff are friendly and intuitive, not leaving you thirsty. Also there is a great outdoor area which allows for eating. There is even a food truck that parks right up to the outside tables. So there isn't much of a walk for a take away pint and meal. Also if you prefer other takeaway places, they all say that you can eat their food there too. The outside place is sheltered, but I wouldn't like to test it during a downpour.

16/12/2025: Very disappointed with hygiene standards Was in Café M in Castlebar recently. Food itself was fine, but the hygiene practices I observed were poor and hard to ignore. I watched food preparers carrying out multiple different tasks while wearing the same gloves throughout — including scratching and then continuing food prep — without changing gloves or washing hands. Gloves are only effective if they’re changed regularly; clean hands are far better than dirty gloves. I don’t blame the staff on the floor — this looks like a training and management issue rather than individuals not caring. However, food hygiene has to be taken seriously, as it directly affects customer safety. I hope management review their procedures and provide better training, as this is easily fixable but very important. Also the coffee had a slightly sour taste. This is common on a machine that needs a little TLC.

29/12/2025: We had a family meal here and everyone was very happy. We got beef Cantonese, beef in hot garlic, sweet and sour chicken and chow mein. Everything was delicious, even the small kids were happy. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or nicer and the food was served much faster than I had expected. Lovely restaurant, would recommend to others. Didn't take photos as we were too eager to eat 😁

24/12/2025: My man from Shenyang. I had a takeaway from here recently and it was great. Chefs special amber fire steak, not too spicy ... just right ... will definitely be back next time in town
