The best restaurants in Monaghan

17/05/2026: Large estate with woods, lakes, marshes, a riding stable and ancient buildings that, however, cannot be visited.

13/05/2026: This was the first place we stayed at on our Ireland adventure and they set the bar VERY high. I highly recommend them! The beds were the most comfortable on our whole trip. The room was beautifully appointed with extra touches, like the fresh mini-muffins that were delicious. They also had our favorite breakfast, of all the places we stayed. My mom is STILL raving about their porridge and will be trying to get their recipe! Be sure to walk the grounds and enjoy the town right outside the main entrance! The beauty and quaint charm of this place is hard to overstate! Well done to the entire staff and, hopefully, we'll come again!

01/05/2026: Stumbled upon Neighbourhood when looking a bite to eat between a wedding mass and reception. We were delighted with our find, warm and friendly welcome, great menu selection and the Mediterranean ciabatta was divine! My hubby had the bacon and brie ciabatta and it went down a treat also. Would highly recommend Neighbourhood to anyone looking a bite to eat in the area

24/02/2026: Amazing! Coffee is delicious, the staff are sound and very dog friendly. Perfect spot to link up for a coconut flat white & breakfast. The owner is also great. Bless RDC 👊🏼

17/01/2026: All round TERRIBLE.. Rude owners, cheap coffee beans, frozen traybakes... Never coming back to this place... Charged me nearly 20 euro for a coffee and a small bun.. I asked a guy I think he was Barney why so expensive and he moaned and groaned and said 'go elsewhere if you don't like it's... Horrible owners won't be back

31/05/2026: go there for the pizzas. they are gorgeous and beat any take away and many restaurants. atmosphere was great because it was a latch Cavan Monaghan for gaa so it was packed with families. great crack !

07/06/2026: Our recent Nicholl family gathering at the Creighton Hotel was a fantastic experience. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are of a very high standard, and the food was excellent throughout our stay. What really stood out was the staff, who couldn’t do enough for us. They were friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make our family gathering a success. Thank you to everyone at the Creighton Hotel for your outstanding hospitality. We would highly recommend it and look forward to returning in the future.

14/09/2025: I attended a wedding where blasta street kitchen catered, wow the food was amazing, staff were so friendly, the owner Seány was so friendly and it was so nice to hear there story and there passion for there business. It was a fully vegetarian menu and as a non veggie I couldn’t get over how amazing the food was, so tasty and full of flavour, I honestly couldn’t recommend them enough 10 out of 10

14/09/2025: We hired Seany to do the catering for our wedding, after a previous caterer had let us down. On short notice, he agreed to cater for us, and had absolutely no issues with our different dietary requirements. He did us a full vegetarian menu, and managed to find a fantastic organic mince substitute that was divine. We also had two coeliacs, and a few picky eaters, but everyone was catered for incredibly. My father is not a fan of halloumi, but I can confirm Seany's food is so good, he actually asked for three portions of the halloumi tacos! All guests said the food was some of the best wedding food they'd had. We would highly recommend Blasta Street Kitchen.

09/09/2025: Awesome is a gem in the heart of Carrickmacross, serving coffee from expert roaster (roasts coffee in house), delicious bakes and always a kids hot chocolate for the little ones. Staff are top class, in a town where there is no shortage of coffee shops, this one stands out.

27/08/2025: Wonderful place, always feels bit nostalgic there. Always great food, breakfast, lunch or pizza for children. Mine love waffles for breakfast. Beside is wonderful laces art gallery amd a wee shop. Toilets too. There is playground just beside it and outdoor toilets and showers.
