The best restaurants in Monaghan

02/02/2025: Having seen The squeeling Pig many the rally car over the years, got the opportunity to visit this eve. The menu had caught my eye earlier on line and it lived up to my expectations, the chicken with chirico sauce was delicious, really enjoyed. And the hake dish was thoroughly enjoyed by my better half. The staff were ever so pleasant, not surprising this venue has been on the radar for as long as I remember. Also I noted the list of awards adorning the wall of the town centre venue.

30/12/2024: Had a great meal for me and the family on Sunday 29th December. Reserved a table for around 3 pm, wasn't full so maybe not necessary but by the time we left it was absolutely full. We all had starters, main courses and desserts and everybody was happy with their meal. We had a member of our party that couldnt make the stairs and they have a lift which was great (we were on the 2nd floor). We had a vegatarian with us and they were well catered for although there wasnt a huge selection for them to pick from. the lamb shank was partciularly scrumptious, falling off the bone and so tender. The desserts were good, with the gingerbread cheesecake a lovely way to end the meal, see the little gingerbread men in the attached pictures. All of our party were fully satisfied and didnt need to eat until the next day!!

20/01/2025: We had an incredible 3-day/2-night stay at Castle Leslie Estate. From the moment we arrived, the experience was magical. The walks around the castle are absolutely breathtaking, with stunning scenery that feels like something out of a fairytale. A special mention goes to Darragh at the restaurant/bar, who went above and beyond to accommodate our request for a cocktail that wasn’t even on the menu—it was such a thoughtful gesture and really made our evening special. The jacuzzi and sauna were a fantastic way to relax and unwind, and the attention to detail from the staff throughout our stay was truly impressive. Everyone made us feel so welcome, and it’s clear they take great pride in ensuring guests have an amazing experience. We can’t recommend Castle Leslie Estate enough and are already looking forward to returning. Thank you to the entire team for a memorable stay!

11/01/2025: What a fabulous place, myself and my partner have just come back from a night away to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed at the lodge and from the very beginning we had the most fabulous experience. Fantastic hospitality and so many little extra touches. The castle itself is magical and we had afternoon tea there on our first day. My only criticism is that the afternoon tea lacked a little in its components, it didn’t have the wow factor but it was ok. Everything else was great, the breakfast was delicious and I have to say I’m glad to see Irish hospitality still exists in some places!

27/01/2025: It's a shame to see such a grand restaurant so empty, because the food is top draw. The only thing I didn't like about the place was the music loop! Every time I've been in they've played the same song over and over again! It's ridiculous, and the guy just thinks it's hilarious when you point it out.

16/02/2025: The quality of the food is amazing. Even seemingly “simple” dishes are just bursting with flavour. The service is friendly and attentive. I have been there with my friends few times now and we love this cute and cozy restaurant! Stunning all round.

12/02/2025: Had food here a few weeks ago and it was lovely and cocktails were amazing also . I had a chicken sizzling burrito bowl and it was the nicest food iv eaten 🤤

09/12/2024: Absolutely gorgeous soup and festive sandwich with delicious real ham turkey stuffing with cranberry sauce, and so reasonably priced. Friendly and efficient staff and loads of parking in this beautifully restored Church. Would very highly recommend stopping here.

21/07/2024: Not enough Stars! Amazing American breakfast! Was able to sit outside and have pupochinos with the dogs. They even gave the dogs water as it was a warm day. Service was very quick... class

29/06/2024: I was visiting from the states and JP Duffy from Shevlins Pub referred me to this establishment. I was looking for live music and it was a Sunday, June , 26th. Boy was I not disappointed ! The band was the best ever and I mean awesome !! Great atmosphere, service and people ! My family had a hotel and carriage shop in town in the mid 1800’s, what a great visit !
