The best restaurants in Offaly

22/11/2024: The past 3 times I have ordered a kebab meal each time they have got it wrong I live 15mins away so just end up throwing away each time ..food is usually good but must cheak before leaving

26/05/2025: This was the worst Indian I have had. I ordered the jumbo prawn masala. 4 prawns. 4. And they were really rubber bullets mascarading as prawns. The rice was flavourless and sitting in a pool of water in the bottom of the tray. The other dish was a lamb rogan josh. I am told it was equally disappointing. The garlic and coriander naan was not puffy and again was seriously lacking in both flavours. This was the second time I ordered from here and the 1st time was terrible too. But with so many great reviews here, I thought it must have been a bad night the 1st time. It doesn't appear so. You could see from my other reviews, that I don't usually post negatives but the difference between what I got and what the other reviews were saying was so vast I felt it needed to. Most of the dinner went in the bin.

01/03/2025: Tropezó en este lugar mientras alfarera por la zona. Parecía el momento adecuado para un té y un pastel. Elegí un bollo choux y al principio el servidor eligió un pastel diferente para mí. Un poco sorprendido de que recogió el pastel, lo puso de nuevo y seleccionó el correcto solo con las manos. Amablemente puso mi té y pastel en una de las mesas. Desafortunadamente, la mesa estaba realmente tambaleante, así que cuando me levanté en el taburete, una gran cantidad del té se derramó. El choux fue decepcionante por ser bastante grueso y pesado. Sin embargo, el personal era amable y había un comercio rápido de los clientes habituales y visitantes, así que tal vez tuve mala suerte. También los precios son muy agudos.

05/04/2025: Very slow at cooking takeaway. Looks like before to cook a chicken they need to catch it first. The portions are too small

25/03/2025: The Roma Grill has a large menu, fair prices and great quality food, has to be one of the best chippers I've been to.

06/05/2025: Very pricey for the portion sizes they were small Had dinner here at 7pm place seemed a little understaffed we were seated straight away but a 20 min delay in taking orders eating area clean and tidy toilets clean cubicles very narrow good atmosphere in the pub glass of coke 3.40 pint of Guinness 5.80

04/05/2025: Visited with family and was quickly seated at back of restaurant. Was provided with drinks quickly. Husband ordered the crispy duck and was advised that it would be 30 mins which we were happy to wait for. Duck arrived within the thirty minutes. The waitress advised that the veg would follow. It didn’t . My daughter ordered fish and chips and I ordered the burger and chips. The chips in both our cases were brown and overcooked. We raised our hands a couple of times to look for the veg and fresh chips but no one approached us. Eventually I rudely interrupted a waitress that was serving others. When I told her our complaints she said she’d inform the manager. The apparent manager came to the table and he smirked that my husbands plate was empty. Of course it was considering it was just duck. When my husband said it was over cooked and dry he stated that that was the way their customers like it. When I said the chips were overcooked he again repeated that that’s the way customers like. No other customer around us were served brown chips so that was lies. He chewed gum whilst dealing with our complaint. The food was bad but his attitude was disgraceful. His apology was not sincere and he took the drinks off our bill which ironically were the only thing good about meal. I regretted not going across to Angelos where the service and food is great. I will never step forth there again and would advise all my boating community friends to avoid.

15/05/2025: We had our son in the hospital for surgery yesterday and while he was down we said we would go get something to eat to pass the time. Well I wish we had stayed up at the hospital and paid the prices up there as we would off got more for the same price. We both got 2 off the chicken wraps with drinks. I understand the cost off food has gone up for not just us as a customer but for suppliers aswell but I'm sorry €6.90 for half a wrap is a complete rip off. There was nothing even on the side. There was 2 pieces off sun dried tomato and abit off the salad they add but there wasn't even a mouthfuls off the salad. Chicken they was enough but lacked pesto could off done with more off it. We got it toasted and found it to be dry. Staff was very unprofessional seemed like it was to much off an effort to work. Even when placing order was just interested in taking order no hello how are you or anything like that. They weren't busy and a hello how are you goes along away for customer service.

23/04/2025: Great coffee and selection of quality food. The lady who is on in the mornings (fair hair in a bun) really stands out with her friendliness - she makes sure customers are happy. Well done and thanks.

19/04/2025: We were in the premises on the night Joshua left his one star review and was also involved in the conversation and to say the owners conversation was taken totally out of context is an understatement. Kieran and Joshua spoke politics and had a good discussion and to see him say nothing about any of these issues on the night is more of a reflection on his character to then go and leave this review.

19/04/2025: Great service, atmosphere and the owner was so nice, We are Nigerian so we were unsure of how things worked in a rural pub in Ireland and to hear him speaking Swahili was the most memorable thing that happened on our trip to this beautiful country! His dog Seanie is amazing.

05/04/2025: Food is decent, but recently in the last few weeks waiting times are very inconvenient, tonight has topped this though. don’t tell customers 15 minutes and have them waiting for 30+ minutes after making a call. Young girl behind the counter clearly distressed and when I asked to speak to management which I seen a few minutes prior, she went into the back and they wouldn’t come out and speak to me. Offered me to leave a phone number but that said enough. I’ll be spending my money elsewhere

19/02/2025: My wife and I dropped in here yesterday for dinner at luchtime.Everything was top class.An excellent dinner and dessert at a reasonable price.The staff were courteous and friendly.Very handy with a car park just opposite.Highly recommended!

12/02/2025: Stopped in here for good pub grub as have heard good things! However, what we got wasn’t up to the great standards people rave about. I ordered the lasagna, my partner got the stir fry and we got chicken wings to share. Chicken wings, couldn’t be faulted lovely and crispy. Lasagna was horribly dry, as if they attempted to heat it up and melt the cheese at the same time, with no clingfilm over it..so the mince dried out completely and clumped together. If I hadn’t of waited 15 mins already I would have sent it back. As for the stir fry, my dad’s old leather boots are of similar texture-super dry, to the point that if not washed down with a fizzy drink would definitely pose a choking hazard. My partner had enough and decided to wash it down with a cold pint of Heineken 0.0, Shur what could go wrong right? No. Glass clearly hadn’t been washed out properly or they had lemon fresh tablets in the dishwasher, Heineken with a hint of citrus! Not so yum! Over all, didn’t cause a fuss but wish I had of because the food was just not up to par at all. Lovely staff, could be more attentive but hey! Who wants staff checking in on them anyways👌

04/04/2025: Fantastic food. Well cooked, well presented and well tasty. I am a big fan of Indian food and have sampled it all over the UK and Ireland, and beyond. Sanjay is up there with the best. A bit pricey but absolutely worth it for the quality on offer.

28/03/2025: No issues with the food but for two small vodkas at €11 each and a standard bottle of Cobra €7, I have to say is a total Rip off. Just make sure to ask before Buying

03/05/2025: Attended a communion here. The staff were so lovely. Great customer service. Nice atmosphere.
