13/09/2025: Staff where brilliant. Check in was brilliant. Room was very very nice, it had everything in in. Very clean.

17/08/2025: Booked a room here for my daughter for an overnight stay with her friend who is attending her debs.They were turned away at the reception. They said debs are not allowed to stay in the hotel??? It doesn't say anywhere when it was being booked. That is just stupid.

12/08/2025: We only went for a day out. It was lovely. The grounds of the castle are lovely and the walk up the mountain is very enjoyable.

10/08/2025: My stay at Castle Hotel was far below expectations. I paid for a higher-category room, yet I was placed in an inferior one, in poor condition – with a broken light fixture and facilities that did not match the price paid. I have photographs and videos to prove this. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were unwelcoming. I was kept waiting for more than two hours before being allowed to check in, and throughout my stay, every request I made was declined without reasonable explanation. I cannot understand why, as my payment holds the same value as any other guest’s. Unfortunately, I felt I was being treated differently. At check-out, I requested that the receptionist call a taxi, as the hotel is located in a rural area where my phone had no signal. She claimed there were no taxis available and stated that no one at the hotel could assist me. Moments later, I saw other guests request taxis and be assisted immediately, right in front of me. I had to go outside the hotel to get signal, and upon my very first call, a taxi arrived within ten minutes. What disappointed me most was the attitude of the staff. They behaved as if they were above their position, lacking the humility and professionalism that hospitality work demands. Their role is to serve guests with courtesy, not to let personal biases dictate their conduct. This was not only unprofessional, but deeply unbecoming of an establishment of this level. As a foreign visitor, it was deeply unsettling to experience such treatment. I was disrespected, poorly attended to, and witnessed behaviour I can only describe as xenophobic – something entirely incompatible with the image this hotel purports to uphold. The hotel itself has good facilities, but the customer service, particularly at reception, was the worst I have ever encountered. I do not recommend it for foreign guests.

06/05/2025: Had a lovely morning at the Bakehouse. Great outdoor seating area where we were served a delicious breakfast by friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend hiring bikes and cycling along the canal. Will be back! Claire (Sea Dew B&B)

26/04/2025: Ballycommon Bakehouse is an absolute gem! From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by a warm, friendly atmosphere and a beautiful setting. The café itself is cosy and inviting, and the outdoor area is simply perfect for sunny days, peaceful, spacious, and the ideal spot to sit back and relax. One of the things I love most is how dog-friendly it is. After a lovely walk along the nearby canal, it’s wonderful to be able to stop in with your four-legged friend and enjoy a coffee or a delicious meal without any hassle. The food is consistently fantastic, fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re popping in for a quick treat or settling in for a relaxed lunch, Ballycommon Bakehouse never disappoints. The staff are genuinely lovely too — always welcoming, attentive, and helpful, which adds to the whole experience. I would absolutely recommend Ballycommon Bakehouse to anyone looking for a great café/restaurant with a relaxed, friendly vibe. It’s a little treasure and well worth a visit!

12/09/2025: Nice pub, nice staff. Quick service for getting a takeaway pizza on a rainy Friday night. Unfortunately pizza was a bit undercooked which I didn't notice until I was back at the hotel. Still ate most of it.

19/06/2025: Heading out from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher and hoping to find a good midway point to grab some vegan food. With the help of my good friend, Google lol, I was able to find a small and cute restaurant called the Foxy Bean at about a halfway point in Tullamore. We weren't super hungry, just hoping for something to tide us over for a few hours. Their vegan breakfast option, the aptly named "Vegan Brekkie", seemed hearty with many components .. pan fried mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, avocado, hash browns, toasted sourdough, spinach, and homemade bean hummus! It didn't occur to us how big this dish might be, however when our lovely server brought the plates out, we were in awe at how much food they managed to fit onto one .. very large .. plate lol. The food was great, you can't beat the variety and everything was tasty, fresh and clean. Whether you happen to be staying in the area or just driving through, stop by and show some appreciation for their vegan option and don't forget to bring your A-game appetite lol

17/08/2025: My favourite cafe in the area. Staff are all really lovely and attentive. The sandwiches and salads are yummy and fresh, the coffee and cakes are great. Everything is very good value and always a relaxed atmosphere too. A small bench out the back to catch some lunch in the sun for summer days too, sometimes a furry friend even comes to say hello!

11/09/2025: A great place for family fun. You can enjoy coffee, soft drinks, and pizza. Besides bowling, there are other entertainment options, including slot machines and billiards. There's also a separate room for younger visitors. A lift is available for those with disabilities.

20/08/2025: Lovely staff to be fair. Price was grand as well bowling was fun has a little arcade very little but grand and pool/snooker tables bathrooms and it's wheelchair accessible as well worth a visit has jumping jacks next door as well and free parking

28/08/2025: We stumbled upon this little village somewhat by chance, and this restaurant looked really nice from the outside. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Let's just say average. We ordered two beers, which got us almost through the meal. The menu was vaguely "Italian."

27/08/2025: High prices but certainly not high-quality service. We had to wait 15 minutes before someone would take our order (had to go to the bar ourselves to request a server). The food was lovely, though the portions were a little small, and they forgot some of our order. It then took another 10 minutes to take our payment-again we had to go to the bar to ask for someone. Highlights of the night included staff loudly complaining in front of customers that other customers were taking up too much room meaning they had to turn people away (odd, as there seemed to be plenty of room, and there would have been more if they had just served their customers in due time), and a waitress yelling at another staff member to "stop eating people's food." On the plus side I got a free glass of milk. I thought maybe it was an apology of some sort, but considering the lack of service everywhere else I can only assume it was just another mistake on their part.
