20/05/2025: One of the best Chinese’s around. Went for the first time last night and the staff were so genuine and polite. Not to mention the food was absolutely fantastic, very reasonably priced and generous portions! Definitely will be back

12/09/2025: Nice pub, nice staff. Quick service for getting a takeaway pizza on a rainy Friday night. Unfortunately pizza was a bit undercooked which I didn't notice until I was back at the hotel. Still ate most of it.

11/09/2025: A great place for family fun. You can enjoy coffee, soft drinks, and pizza. Besides bowling, there are other entertainment options, including slot machines and billiards. There's also a separate room for younger visitors. A lift is available for those with disabilities.
20/08/2025: Lovely staff to be fair. Price was grand as well bowling was fun has a little arcade very little but grand and pool/snooker tables bathrooms and it's wheelchair accessible as well worth a visit has jumping jacks next door as well and free parking

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel: everything was clean, comfortable, and cozy. We especially appreciated the comfortable mattress — it was a great sleep.
We were very satisfied with the check-in: there is parking, and the owner kindly met us even at midnight, although the reception closes at 10. He waited for us, and everything went perfectly.
In the morning, there was a wonderful breakfast in a pleasant atmosphere.
We were completely satisfied and gladly recommend this hotel to others!
02/07/2025: First class accommodation in the heart of Birr. The hosts are so friendly and attentive to all your needs. Fantastic healthy-option breakfasts, freshly prepared. I had dinner here at the Tapas restaurant which is a bright, spacious and fun restaurant with fantastic food options! I’m definitely coming back to Townsend House 😁👍

10/09/2025: Went here on a recommendation and I couldn't have been more disappointed. Overpriced and under-baked cakes. €3.90 for carrot cake which was stodgy, heavy and very clearly under-baked. Photos below. The bakewell was the a little dry and lacking in flavour. Haven't tried the apple tart but im desperately hoping it will be delicious to justify paying almost €20 for as the rest went into the bin.
17/08/2025: My favourite cafe in the area. Staff are all really lovely and attentive. The sandwiches and salads are yummy and fresh, the coffee and cakes are great. Everything is very good value and always a relaxed atmosphere too. A small bench out the back to catch some lunch in the sun for summer days too, sometimes a furry friend even comes to say hello!
