The best restaurants in Offaly

22/09/2026: Easily the best Indian restaurant I have been to in quite some time. Food is excellent. On a quiet Tuesday evening I recently had Balti with peshwari naan and it had great flavour. The chef is apparently there for 20 years so the people of Tullamore are very lucky!!

08/08/2026: It wasn't a good sign when we got there and it was empty, we sat down and asked for wine and were told they dont have it, only soft drinks or mango lassi. Got the impression the place is mainly for take aways which was confirmed by the stream of people coming in and out. We had some starters but there was no atmosphere so it wasn't what we were looking for and left shortly after. It also felt extra strange when a table walked in 20 mins after us, they asked for wine and the waitress brought it over. I dont know why they chose to do that but the bad table service probably explains the lack of customers!

19/10/2026: Have eaten her a few times and it never disappoints. Food is amazing along with the service. Kids also enjoy coming here. Would highly recommend the salmon penne 🤤

05/10/2026: A long time waiting for drinks and food was mixed up. all other things was perfect.

20/08/2026: Service was ok. Food quite poor. Nice enough chips. Had steak sandwich, steak was overcooked, very very thin, so I guess nearly impossible to cook it medium rare. Had to ask for pepper sauce as it didn't come with it. Definitely the stingiest steak in a steak sandwich I have ever had. Person serving us was apologetic about the steak being well done rather than medium rare. Due to the time constraints, I didn't send the sandwich back and eat and paid for it. Mushroom vol-au-vent was tasty, but contained very little chicken. The pub must be in the serious cost cutting stage as prices are on par with everywhere else but very little protein for your money here. Card machine didn't work (signs displayed so assume that machine doesn't work permanently). We had to pay for food and drinks separately even though everything was ordered and served together. All in all, would not go back and regretted eating here. Do not recommend for more than chips and a drink.

14/08/2026: Lovely staff bus service a bit chaotic on Sunday. Food very good. Pity a glass of Chardonnay was so bad - undrinkable actually!

05/10/2026: Very pleasant atmosphere with equally great quality food which was welcome after long weekend wedding . Definitely would recommend as unlikely to disappoint

05/09/2026: The mango duck main course comes with no rice or naan bread (we had to pay extra), the duck meat was a bit dry and not enough for the main coarse...The service was lovely but food was average and overpriced...

18/04/2026: A truly authentic spot in the area. The beer selection is very appealing, and there's a spacious indoor dining room. The food and service were excellent.

13/10/2026: I'd stopped going here as they'd reduced the portion sizes and cut back on meat content just making the dishes poor value. However on recommendation of a good friend i tried Zaffran again and im delighted to report the quality & portion quality are back to the good old days 👍

11/09/2026: We had a positive experience ordering from Zaffran. We ordered garlic naan, chana masala, butter chicken and two sides of pilau rice. Delicious complimentary pakora and chutneys were provided alongside our order which was a nice touch. There was plenty of food for two – portions were generous and we had food leftover for lunch the following day. The chicken was deliciously tender and the chana masala had a nice level of heat. The highlight for me was the garlic naan which was warm and fluffy and loaded with fresh garlic. Service was friendly. The order was placed for collection and was ready in approximately 20 minutes. Cash and card payment options are available in the restaurant.

18/10/2026: Good cup of coffee and sandwich. Big shop with plenty of seating.

12/08/2026: I visited Costa Edenderry today with my baby and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The manager was the person dealing with us when we came in, and I found her very rude and unwelcoming from the start. I asked if she could heat my baby’s bottle safely behind the counter, but she initially ignored me and didn’t respond. I had to ask her a second time before she acknowledged me. She then said, “We’re not really allowed to do it.” I explained that I had never had an issue with Costa heating my baby’s bottle before and asked why it couldn’t be done. Instead of offering a helpful alternative, she gave me a cup with a small amount of water in it and handed it to me. As you can see from the photo, this wasn’t a practical way to warm my baby’s bottle. As a mother with a hungry baby, I found the whole experience very upsetting. I completely understand if there is a health and safety policy preventing staff from heating baby bottles, but I would have expected a little more understanding and compassion, particularly from the manager. Most places I have been to have been accommodating when I’ve needed to warm my baby’s bottle, especially when I’m coming into the business and spending money there. I genuinely hope no other parent has to find themselves in the same situation with a hungry baby. Even if the answer was no, I believe the situation could have been handled with much more kindness, professionalism and understanding. Unfortunately, the manager’s attitude and customer service really let the experience down. I hope Costa Edenderry takes this feedback seriously.

22/07/2026: 5 star experience all day long. The food is so fresh & tasty (great portions) & the place is kept very clean & tidy. Always made feel welcome.

08/04/2026: A must visit or stay when in Birr. The Stables has an excellent cafe and gift shop

20/03/2026: Was here with friends for lunch, it was so relaxing with friendly staff. I had panni coffee and delicious individual lemon meringue pie. Highly recommend.

16/09/2026: Not a huge veggie menu however the lovely staff were very accommodating and we left with full belly’s:)

08/09/2026: I ordered the poached eggs with bacon. The eggs while soft & edible looked dreadful, the fat on the rashers was translucent and could have been cooked for another few minutes. The eggs weren't drained before placing on the plate so water on the plate. Staff were friendly. Food way to dear for what is provided. Updated review August 2026 Went back and ordered the poached eggs and bacon. Eggs cooked perfectly so upgraded from 3stars to 4stars

01/04/2026: Very welcoming staff with good facilities, although tye rooms could do with a mirror and dressing table for the ladies. Located within a 3-5 minute walk to the centre of Tullamore.

01/03/2026: Was there for food yesterday food was nice staff was bit slow but over all ok time

04/10/2026: Their coffee is delicious -full bodied, smooth and just the right temperature. Inside seating - cosy. Tried the mozarella croissant which was delicious! As a visitor, will definitely be back on my next visit ❤️

04/09/2026: The place is very small, but can be cosy if someone likes it. They have vegan sausage roll which was amazing.
