The best restaurants in Offaly

02/09/2026: Ordered a light beer, received a dark one; ordered a small cider, received a large one; next time we wanted to order two Irish coffees, but they had no coffee or cream! Unfortunately, this is the only pub for miles around... and the cleanliness, well...

18/08/2026: I have sampled the food while travelling through Edenderry on many an occasion today I stopped here, its got a great carpark and very accessible premises. The food I ordered was a cesear salad. It's my goto middle of the road healthish option while travelling for work It usually comes with a carb side such as bread or chips and it was offered here with chips. I usually avoid the carbs but today I couldn't. The portion of salad and chicken I was served was below anything I had before. It came on a massive plate and was nearly covering it. I ate the chips as the portion size wouldn't have filled a 5year old. The croutons were also soft and I would say stale. Sorry to say I wouldn't return. Staff were friendly nice buzz about the place but value for money was poor. €14.50 was very pricey for the portion size served and quality of food.

18/04/2026: A truly authentic spot in the area. The beer selection is very appealing, and there's a spacious indoor dining room. The food and service were excellent.

08/09/2026: I ordered the poached eggs with bacon. The eggs while soft & edible looked dreadful, the fat on the rashers was translucent and could have been cooked for another few minutes. The eggs weren't drained before placing on the plate so water on the plate. Staff were friendly. Food way to dear for what is provided. Updated review August 2026 Went back and ordered the poached eggs and bacon. Eggs cooked perfectly so upgraded from 3stars to 4stars

08/08/2026: It wasn't a good sign when we got there and it was empty, we sat down and asked for wine and were told they dont have it, only soft drinks or mango lassi. Got the impression the place is mainly for take aways which was confirmed by the stream of people coming in and out. We had some starters but there was no atmosphere so it wasn't what we were looking for and left shortly after. It also felt extra strange when a table walked in 20 mins after us, they asked for wine and the waitress brought it over. I dont know why they chose to do that but the bad table service probably explains the lack of customers!

08/04/2026: A must visit or stay when in Birr. The Stables has an excellent cafe and gift shop

20/03/2026: Was here with friends for lunch, it was so relaxing with friendly staff. I had panni coffee and delicious individual lemon meringue pie. Highly recommend.

25/12/2025: One of the best pubs in Ireland. Cozy atmosphere and great pints. Never a let down from Kieran. If your in between the two spots in Kinnitty this is definetly the more comfortable option

28/04/2026: A great spot, lovely atmosphere. The drinks of a very high standard & the place is always kept clean & tidy. Lovely decor, a real traditional pub. 5 star rating from me.

26/05/2026: Spent €43 on takeaway and 90% of it went to the bin. Satay was flavourless, ribs were all bone, salt and chilli chicken was rubbery, chicken wings were flavourless… forgot both the curry and bbq sauce. I’ve ordered from here for the last 15 years and I will never step foot in the place again. What an absolute waste of money

05/09/2026: The mango duck main course comes with no rice or naan bread (we had to pay extra), the duck meat was a bit dry and not enough for the main coarse...The service was lovely but food was average and overpriced...

30/07/2026: Went in around 4pm to get some chips, young girl behind counter lost her voice which can happen however while upon waiting for my food to be cooked. Herself and another colleague was hands on inappropriately touching each other during service. They was also kissing each other while cooking and preparing my food. Have to say I'm shocked a business would even allow that to happen during service luckily I was the only customer at the time and no children witnessed what I saw. Very unprofessional however the food was good and very hot. Due to what I witnessed I more than likely won't be back nor recommending this place to friends or family or even kids

01/04/2026: Very welcoming staff with good facilities, although tye rooms could do with a mirror and dressing table for the ladies. Located within a 3-5 minute walk to the centre of Tullamore.

10/06/2026: Great little spot but we found it understaffed and overly buisy. Older crowd inside the pub much younger crowd in the brilliant beer garden.now I would have to say it was a Sunday night of the bank holiday weekend.
