01/02/2026: Stopped for lunch earlier today. Had a selection of various starters tapas style. Excellent seafood, efficient and super friendly staff, great Irish coffee- open kitchen , very cool vibe. Oh and clean and warm toilets which is always appreciated after a long and cold walk đ

01/03/2026: Usually have a lovely time here. Last night was disappointing.
One table where loud and had too much to drink and been very vulgar (can't blame the restaurant for this?
We where asked to give back our table before we where offered desserts, this was 45 mins in ton out arrival
Our bill came and have the items where not charged for. When we explained and asked for correct bill there was additional drinks and food added.
After 20 mins bill was resolved.
Personally I feel the restaurant was over booked and staff could not function .
Definitely won't be going back here on a Saturday night gor a while
28/02/2026: This place has really gone downhill with new ownership. It used to be such a gorgeous local spot, now the atmosphere is cold and contentious with ill mannered staff. Avoid.

22/04/2025: Ashling Hotel was a very reliable place for good traditional food. Not anymore. Had a meal there on Easter Saturday. The food was pretty mediocre. A pretty poor attempt at nouvelle cuisine. It would be better if the chef stuck with traditional menus.

07/02/2026: The food and coffee are very disappointing. The cappuccino taste like it was made with water not milk and definitely the beans are not of good quality by the taste. Also the look of it, no chocolate powder on the top, no shape of the foam or anything, just thrown there..
The avocado and poached eggs again were disappointing, the avocado was toasted like the butter on the bread, shiny and pressed into the bread slice, making it look disgusting. The toasted bread was so hard and really impossible to be cut in pieces. The way they brought the salmon, just thrown in a separate plate, no lemon or anything next to. It was supposed to be served together with the toast avocado and poached eggs.
The pancakes were soaked in oil.
The sandwiches for kids were brought like for adults, no consideration that a tiny little person will have some bites from it.
There is no sense for food estetics or standards in a plate.

12/03/2026: A service charge of 12.5% was added to our bill for 2 people, myself and a friend. I didn't realise this until after I'd paid the bill.
I actually had added a tip and while the waitress was processing my bill I looked at the receipt because I was curious about why the bill was expensive. I said oh I didnât realise there was service charge already on the receipt and she just smiled and gave me back my card. No apology. I thought it was unfair she didnât mention there was service already included. I ended up paying service charge and a tip.
Service charge is usually added to a group of 5 or more people, which I can understand but not for anything less than that. I have never seen service charge added for less than 5 people.
It left a sour taste on what was overall a nice experience with tasty food and service up to that point. I wonât be going back, on prices that are already inflated, automatically adding a 12.5% charge is crazy.
12/03/2026: Excellent place for a date or to meet friends, very good food and several areas for private parties, top-notch DJ and bartenders. I recommend it â

22/01/2026: Came here for my birthday drinks with a friend and Eva was the best! She not only had the best recommendations but also kindly got us little cakes which was so sweet. Will be bringing my girlfriends back for all future birthday drinks!
10/01/2026: We went there just for a couple of cocktails around Christmas time.
Despite the time of the year and the Christmas tree outside, the place didn't feel very warm.
The cocktails we ordered were really good and the seasonal offering quite interesting.

24/02/2026: Dublin has tons of hotels. Save yourself the time digging through options and just book this one, the area is Central. Safe. Staff is awesome. Ger who is the concierge extraordinaire will make sure your stay is perfect!

26/12/2025: We arrived at The Port House Cava for our booking at 1pm Christmas Eve. The restaurant was empty except for one table. All the other tables were vacant. The server greeted us and immediately warned us he needed the table back at 3pm. Thatâs fine. We sat. We waited. The same server was down the back chatting with the kitchen over the pass. We waited a little longer, still no drinks order was coming. I decided to draw some attention to our table by going up to the empty bar. The only occupied table gave me a glance that I read as a comment on the hopeless service as they tried to get the same servers attention. He was still chatting at the pass while the only two tables were both waiting for some attention. Up to the bar he saunters, I ask if we can order some prosecco. We only have Cava he says âthey are the same thingâ. No there not I reply, but ok letâs have a bottle of cava and if you donât mind 6 glasses for our table. Back at our table he produces a wine list which would have been handy when we were seated. The cava arrives. Itâs barely chilled. I say nothing. Again the same server reminds us that he needs the table back at 3pm. My blood is boiling at this stage as my family as I are made feel like we are an obstruction of sorts. The food arrives and itâs delicious. Well presented. Well cooked and a delight. The first bottle of cava is empty. Iâd like to order another but the server is back down at the pass chatting again. To command he attention, again I get up and venture to the bar. Another server has started his shift just before 2pm. Heâs more attentive. We order another cava and a bottle of rosĂ©. 2.40pm and the 2nd server starts clearing our table. 2.50pm and they are hovering around our table to let us know itâs almost time to go. The restaurant is still empty except for one other 3top table. The bill arrives and I settle at the bar leaving half the tip I normally would. I ask the server why the hard push on getting the table back while the restaurant is empty. He has no answer. Which points me toward the owner or manager who I know will read this review. So, dear sir or madam, your pockets would be better lined if you spent as much time on encouraging your staff to deliver a good experience rather than a punctual one. Youâre employing bus boys, not servers. Weâre paying for the experience of which the food is only part. The atmosphere was dead just like the bookings. Whatâs the different between The Port House Cava and Tapas Del Lola? The staff. The staff. The staff. Youâre doing Camden Street no favours with this diabolical customer service. I strongly suggest you consider adding some charm somewhere because youâre just not at the level of some of your good neighbours.

15/02/2026: We went here on February 14th. We were seated fairly quickly, even though we didn't have a reservation. Once we'd chosen our dishes, it was difficult to get the waiter to order. The manager approached us first, and we told him what we wanted, but then he said another waiter would take our order. The waiter spoke very little English. We ordered two soups, a beer, and two starters, as we weren't hungry. My boyfriend was particularly keen to try the Award Winning Salmon from the starters. We ate, but when the bill arrived, it turned out to be more than we'd ordered. We saw that they'd charged us the wrong salmon. We called the waitress over, and she started asking what it looked like. Which sounds ridiculous, because how are we supposed to know what the salmon we ordered looked like and what they brought if it was all salmon? Be careful and ask several times, as they hire incompetent staff, and the guest will then have to pay for their mistakes.

09/11/2025: I wanted to give it 0 stars, but you canât give 0 stars, so Iâm rating it a 1. My friend and I were looking forward to going to this cafe after seeing on TikTok, we had even waited for them to open. It was a very uncomfortable experience from the start. The waitress told us to wait outside until she allowed us in, and when she did - the lights were still switched off. Even being the first ones there she very rudely told us to sit down at the first table. We had planned to study at the cafe as we heard people had done that before, but she told us that she canât hold the table for us to study and this was the only table we could sit at. She was behaving very hostile and rude towards us and it was such an uncomfortable experience, we left immediately. The service was extremely horrible, do better next time! We canât believe that we were treated like this, we had such high expectations, we never thought weâd be treated so poorly by the waitress especially at a cafe in Dublin.
07/11/2025: Totally unpleasant experience. Greeted by rude unsmiling unfriendly staff members. I have just taken out a family membership, love the museum but am shocked by the rude sullen indifference of the staff in the café. We complained at the museum reception front desk, and were promptly told it was nothing to do with them as it's run by a separate entity. Shocking.

01/02/2026: food was really yummy and hot. but the service was terrible. one girl shirley was very rude and had a lot of attitude. she was hurrying me up and she was not respectful when i was ordering. terrible service from her. other than that it was a very nice experience. she was also on a call talking to people while we were waiting to be seated.
17/01/2026: I only went there to collect delivery but the girl on the till is extremely rude, she literally talks via video call while FOH, technically some customers might not feel comfortable being seen on camera and as myself working in food industry for 10 years that is unacceptable! Even to me felt like Iâm about to steal the package đ
Iâve delt fair share with drivers and they are sometimes the worst but made me feel like Iâm gonna run and steal one burger! She was also little unfocused towards work as FOH should be creating atmosphere nice for customers! Surroundings dirty which I think FOH need to be responsible for and again phone on video while serving customers! I usually donât write these things as I think it can be seen and fixed by owner or manager but seems like management here is not the greatest! Please rethink employees and management gets paid for work which is needed to be done to keep customers happy!
