06/09/2025: Such a shame after my previous 5 stars 3 years ago and thousands of euros spent (checked with my bank). Food / Drink: - Steak sandwich chewy and tasteless. Pepper sauce was like water - Burger dry, bun crumbing, cheap chips from freezer - Fish underdone, batter strangely orange, chips as above - Guinness good, peppermint tea horrible - we asked for water top up, had to ask 2 more times Service: apart from the tea situation, average at best. Toilet cleanliness was appalling both gents and ladies. Atmosphere: Unlike in the past when we were guided to the table, this time it was "wherever you like". Started fine at first, maybe because we were positively biased, and then football match was blasted to the max. Not a chance for a conversation. I honestly hope this feedback will be taken into consideration. We live near Bray and every time we were anywhere in the triangle of Tallaght/Phoenix Park//Blanch we would chose Carrolls in the past. Same for my business guests from US/UK. Not anymore.

20/08/2025: Went there for a company night out, food, drinks and staff where all excellent. Brilliant atmosphere, totally enjoy our visit. Will definitely be back.

17/09/2025: Always try to have breakfast here when I'm in the area. Haven't had a bad one yet. Delicious food

27/08/2025: Been here a few times and unfortunately it has never really impressed. The food has become quite overpriced for what you receive albeit tasty. Small-medium sized burger alone costs €~15 and fries an extra €6. Rating for the atmosphere and aesthetic was low possibly due to time of day, brunch on a Tuesday. The main positive is the team working here; they were very (kid-) friendly although little things were noticed and caused frustration, e.g. only a pepper shaker at our table. Other tables had salt & pepper shakers however they were emptied. Overall it was a disappointment.

14/08/2025: Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, our waiter did an exceptional job! He was very personable and made our last meal in Dublin very enjoyable! Awesome Job, Moises!!!5

14/09/2025: The food is spicy and it’s not specified on the menu nor mentioned by the waiters, and the portions are very small

19/08/2025: I was passing through Dublin for a day and wanted to try the flavors of my hometown again, and this is definitely the place. The food is delicious, and although it's more of an à la carte buffet with portions, two or three per person is a good choice. The prices, as you might expect, are a bit high for what it is, but considering that this is something "exotic" here, it's understandable. Good service, with a pleasant atmosphere and Andalusian music in the background. Perhaps the lighting could be improved a bit.

19/09/2025: The cafe is lovely but it has the rudest staff. I go there often and I never had a pleasant encounter. They ignore customers, roll their eyes, and are generally acting odd/full of themselves. very odd vibes from the staff, but the cafe itself and the food is good.

10/07/2025: 10/10 experience, would definitely recommend. I came in early on a Thursday evening and was met with the whole place buzzing with a great atmosphere. The food and drink were absolutely delicious and the service super friendly, especially the waitress Kamila. She recommended and made me an absolutely amazing cocktail. Will definitely be back.

05/07/2025: Had tapas and drinks here last night and found it throughly mediocre in all aspects. The food was defiantly not worth returning for.

14/08/2025: On August 11th, I had an unpleasant situation. My friend and I went in for lunch and sat at one of the last 3-4 tables outside. Shortly after, the waitress came and she told us that we had to go inside to be seated, because sometimes customers are standing in line for a table. I said that we didn’t know and apologized. To which the waitress replied that this was not my first time here and should have known. This statement was completely disturbing as neither I need to memorize how operations work in your coffee shop nor I felt secured someone tracking my earlier visits. On my last visit, I first saw this waiter when I went inside to see what desserts were available and to place an order, to which she rather rudely told me that I needed to sit at a table first. So on this visit, we immediately sat at a table. It sounds like your place either lacks proper training or staff is treating based on their mood. I also observed that this waitress did not approach other customers the same way which made us feel further down. Previously, I visited this cafe years back, there were no waiters, and everyone just sat outside. Regardless, this is nowhere near how a service should be provided in this industry. Then my friend and I paid the bill, said thank you, goodbye, to which the waitress remained silent, tried not to look at us, looked unhappy. At that moment an elderly woman came up and asked her a question about the payment, she also answered unkindly. We left a little shocked and realized everything after we had previously been in a good mood, but after that it was spoiled. I have never encountered such service in this cafe, I always liked this place and the staff. As in principle, it is unusual to see such service in Ireland after many years of living here. I very often visit different coffee shops and restaurants in the city and this is the first time I encountered such low level of service.

22/04/2025: Ashling Hotel was a very reliable place for good traditional food. Not anymore. Had a meal there on Easter Saturday. The food was pretty mediocre. A pretty poor attempt at nouvelle cuisine. It would be better if the chef stuck with traditional menus.
