18/05/2026: I had the most wonderful day here for my little brother’s birthday. Beautiful atmosphere within the restaurant and such such kind staff, particularly Susy, Thais, Jay, and Dani. The food was absolutely delicious also. This is my third time at the restaurant and definitely not my last, I definitely recommend it for a casual lunch or nice dinner. Thank you to the staff for the wonderful experience.

14/05/2026: came to celebrate my wedding anniversary, and what was meant to be a memorable night ended up being incredibly disappointing to say the least. the food was average at best, and the service… the service was nothing short of terrible. we spent most of the evening waiting for someone to attend us and when the server finally took notice in us they were ridiculously rude and standoffish. never coming back.

24/03/2026: Great food, and plates etc. Service & welcome was luke warm, atmosphere was a little dead. Half full but still, all but one overhead light over tables were off. Pity because they nailed the food.

12/05/2026: emailed them first but no reply Hi Eamon, I didn't want to post a review without giving you the right of reply but I am afraid I must bring this to your attention. I would be a regular enough customer, certainly once a month for drinks and food and usually more. Anyway, I arrived in yesterday around 16:45 and ordered a pint of Rockshore lager (see attached picture of it) and the mushroom soup and special. 1. The soup was cold 2. The special (chicken sizzler) was nice but the girl forgot to tell me the iron plate was scalding and I burnt 2 of my fingers badly in a vain attempt to lift it and scoop onto the plate with the rice 3. My sorry pint you can judge for yourself. Paid my bill (was $32, gave 40 and said keep the change, the girl looked at me as if I had robbed her purse. There was a family with 3 young kids in the area behind me. The 3 kids roared and screamed for the 50 minutes I was in there. And I mean roared the house down. No one said a word. I ended up leaving. Anyway that's my tale of woe. You guys are better than that. I know it because i have always loved going in there

06/05/2026: The food at Layla's Rooftop Restaurant is very good, with Italian dishes that are well prepared and full of flavour. As French/Italian people previously living in Paris and used to elevated dining experiences, we were however a bit disappointed by the service, which sometimes felt somewhat pedantic rather than genuinely warm and refined. Considering the price of dishes, this should definitely be addressed, as premium should never rhyme with pretentiousness.

09/05/2026: Had dinner here on a Friday evening. Main dish tasted excellent, but the portion could have been a bit bigger. Service was good, nice atmosphere as well.

02/05/2026: Didn’t have any huge expectations going in, the signage is a little outdated as is the menu design itself. However inside the place is modern but cosy with a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly throughout and service was prompt despite being quite busy. The food itself was very very good. The batter on both the fish and chips and scampi was crisp but not too thick and heavy and the fish itself was cooked perfectly. The mushy peas and tartare sauce are both perfect. A must eat restaurant in Dalkey, especially for fish

10/05/2026: Got a table outside on a sunny Saturday in May and it was perfect. Great appetizers and meals - seafood chowder and linguini were great and atmosphere was lovely.

04/05/2026: We had a lunch. I had the sea bass which was delicious perfectly cooked and served with really fresh veg. My husband had the seafood linguine as always and it was really good full of lovely fresh seafood. We both had lemon posset which was also excellent. Service was excellent. A lovely lady with long curly hair sorry we didn’t get her name. We’ve been here a few times and will be back. The food is great, service always good and it has a lovely atmosphere for families, and locals alike.

09/05/2026: It's true that the buckwheat crepes are sweet, what a shame! They're also quite heavy. The Breton cider is perfect. The coffee needs improvement. And to access the women's restroom, you have to ask the staff to open the door, and there's no lock either, which is really inconvenient.

04/05/2026: I recently visited a so-called French restaurant in Dublin, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. To begin with, the appetizer was served with bread so hard it felt like you could break your teeth trying to eat it — definitely not what you’d expect from a place presenting itself as refined or authentic. The service was even worse. Some of the staff appeared to struggle significantly with English, which made communication very difficult. Their attitude was dismissive, rude, and at times even mocking — we could clearly hear them laughing in the background. At one point, someone from the back started shouting loudly that the service was over (or at least that’s what it sounded like), which felt completely unprofessional and inappropriate. Shortly after, a waiter came over and abruptly told us that they were closing. When I asked about the shouting, he pretended not to know anything about it, despite being right there. To make matters worse, my friend hadn’t even finished her bottle of wine before we were rushed out. Considering the high bill, this level of service is simply unacceptable. We left feeling disrespected and unwelcome — and for the first time in a long while, I felt absolutely justified in leaving no tip. Definitely not a place I would recommend.
