30/12/2025: Very cute little coffee shop with wonderful coffee and staff. It’s just around the Mall

07/11/2025: Tried out The Wandering Elk today and it was absolutely amazing 🫎☺️. I had a toasted sandwich with bacon and chicken that was bursting with flavour 😋. It came with a generous serving of nachos and dip on the side which was such a lovely surprise 🌮. The coffee was rich, smooth and perfect for the cool day ☕. The cookie was out of this world, soft and buttery with a gorgeous white chocolate drizzle 🍪🤍. The 2 lady staff members were so friendly and everything came out fresh, hot and full of flavour 😊. Overall The Wandering Elk is a fantastic spot for lunch or coffee and I’ll definitely be back soon ❤️.

03/01/2026: Check your order before leaving the last window!! Drove off and parked up realised was missing items so rang the restaurant and explained that I had an autistic child in the car and couldn’t leave him so would they mind bringing it out to me. They said no call into us I already explained why I couldn’t it didn’t matter they told me to inconveniently come back through the drive through to which I was greeted by a girl with zero customer service skills after explaining to her just threw a face and handed me out what they should have gave me at start! No apology nothing. Chips were cold too! Need to work on your staffs customer service and try to accommodate people with special needs!!

26/12/2025: I went in before closing time (apparently today 26th they close at 5:30 and it was before 5) and was told it was takeaway only, which was fine. However, when I asked the staff member at the pastries counter what the items were (the labels were missing), she repeatedly said she didn’t know, turned her back on me, and continued cleaning. I asked if there was anything with lemon. She said no, but when I pointed at a pastry I thought was lemon, she then said “it’s lemon” — without any apology or explanation. I ended up buying it because it looked nice, but honestly I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for her attitude. I work in customer service myself and understand how tiring busy or festive shifts can be, but basic politeness is still part of the job. The pastry looks okay. A bit overpriced for the size, 4.95€ but the service really needs improvement.

12/12/2025: Warm and food well priced, had lunch food was good. Only bad thing need to be more generous on the roast potatoes only had one on my plate.

23/11/2025: Had a terrible experience with the short security guard here — incredibly rude, unprofessional, and went out of his way to make the visit unpleasant. Completely unacceptable behavior and definitely needs better training in basic respect.

24/05/2025: I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived i was told I had to join a long queue. What is the point of calling in your order. No idea how to run a business. The food isn’t that good to wait 40 minutes! Rude staff. Would rather go to supermacs.

28/09/2025: I always visit O'Brien's in Athlone Town Center when in Athlone. The sandwiches are always beautifully made with high quality ingredients. The coffee is great too. This is the best O'Brien's I have been to, always so clean, from the food display to the clearing of the tables. I have always found a clean table to sit at and always enjoy my food. But most of all the staff are amazing, so friendly and efficient, nothing is too much trouble for them. At this point they remember my regular order, goats cheese sandwich on gluten free bread with an Americano, I don't even have to ask anymore 😆 well done to the hard working staff.

13/01/2026: I got whopper meal. And the burger fillings was so poor I went back to change, it was one tomato, one pickle, no ketchup 3x3cm onion pieces. I say to manager/supervisor no name tag, on picture like this and you give me this. So I've been told it's only for marketing the one in the picture 😆 To be fair they did better one the second time, but I wouldn't go there again. You advertising quality, then give quality and keep customers happy! The worse answer ever too. Employee should learn how to answer customers.

05/02/2026: This food was probably the deadest chicken ive EVER had in my life, the grease was genuinely sparkling on the inside and the oil was obviously not changed. Both me and my friend feel mad sick after this and we came right at open. Also how is yhe chicken in kfc unseasoned thats ur whole thing.

01/01/2026: I had a horrible New Year's Eve experience at this place. There weren't enough staff, and 10 minutes before the countdown, there were no drinks for sale. The staff were doing the impossible to serve everyone. It was a disastrous environment. They want to save money on staff and simply advertise a terrible party with no management whatsoever. No cocktails, no álcool. Please don’t make people leave their houses if you not able to give a good experience

21/08/2025: To all the staff in Maisie’s, from the door staff to the bar staff to the glass collectors and cleaners, you made my entire hen weekend an absolute blast. From the Friday night dancing , Saturday day activities upstairs and into Saturday night dancing , you made us feel so welcome. As a hen party you tend to be watching yourselves and trying to separate as a lot of places don’t like seeing a bunch of women coming(I get it) however ye are different… we got waved at and welcomed from the second we got over that bridge! You guys are absolute amazing. Ye are number 1 in Athlone by a country mile and I’ll be recommending this place to everyone and their nana!!!! And also - whoever that Dj was that ye had Friday 15th and Saturday 16th - he’s an absolute superstar on the decks! I can’t wait to come back!! From the Galway Hen ❤️
