31/10/2025: The Guinness was absolutely woeful, swapped over to Murphy's and it was worse. Stay away for the stouts.

07/02/2026: We had a fantastic meal in Pavarotti’s. Highly recommend it. The bruschetta, seafood salad, pizza frutti de mare and cannelloni all delicious. Brilliant atmosphere and the staff were so friendly. A point to note you can bring your own wine with a €4 corkage.

29/05/2026: They have a clean toilet and room. Food here is good, but not an extraordinary, or without special touch. Especially their chicken wings without extra sauce. It was tasted like a regular fried chicken. Nothing special. Pan tai noodles had almost the same history, but their recipe with nuts saved it a little. Also I don't understand when you must pay extra money to take food outside, or eat in the cafe. The fact that staff can't explain their policy in English language didn’tbother me. Could you recommend me something another on their menu? Unfortunately I can't understand people who rate this cafe more than 4 stars, or even 5 stars. Sorry, for that, that's true. Hello. Please, could you support my hobby and put your royal like for me? Thank you!

01/05/2026: Terrible experience! From the moment we walked in the door it was like the staff didn't want to be there. Waited 50 minutes for our food with no apologies or updates. Went to find out where our food was and kept getting told (by the floor staff) "it will just be another few minutes". The on-duty supervisor was more interested in making milkshakes rather than dealing with the issues at hand, leaving the floor staff to answer all queries. We even asked the supervisor where our food was and she let on of the staff behind her answer. Food came out overcooked and thrown together. No apologies, no care to customers, nothing - just blank faces when queried or questioned. Paying for the food, the supervisor served us, and not a care in the world given for the issues we had encountered. We used to like Eddie Rockets but this evening was such an unbelievable experience, it has given us a sour taste. Some manager and supervisor re-training, and staff training on customer care definitely wouldn't go a miss.

15/02/2026: I was in for a meal on saturday the 14th of february.i was treated very badly.staff was very rude.waiting for 45 mins for a starter and came out cold.when we asked why was this handed out cold,and we were spoken too like this didnt matter.i would definetly not recommend this place to no one as its overrated and false advertisment to the public

07/11/2025: Tried out The Wandering Elk today and it was absolutely amazing 🫎☺️. I had a toasted sandwich with bacon and chicken that was bursting with flavour 😋. It came with a generous serving of nachos and dip on the side which was such a lovely surprise 🌮. The coffee was rich, smooth and perfect for the cool day ☕. The cookie was out of this world, soft and buttery with a gorgeous white chocolate drizzle 🍪🤍. The 2 lady staff members were so friendly and everything came out fresh, hot and full of flavour 😊. Overall The Wandering Elk is a fantastic spot for lunch or coffee and I’ll definitely be back soon ❤️.

29/04/2026: Nice casual atmosphere and good service. Steak sandwich was satisfying, though I would have liked a bit more sauce. Fish and chips were spot on—crispy batter and flaky fish. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

14/02/2026: We had an amazing dinner on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was beautifully prepared and decorated for the occasion, creating a lovely and romantic atmosphere. The service was excellent — attentive and professional — and the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming place in Athlone town centre. We’ll definitely be back!

03/06/2026: The room was clean and the self-check in super easy. It’s got a private parking area and is located a short walk from the castle and river. We had a great stay here.

29/05/2026: It was ok for a short stay, but I wish they had central ventilation, because it was a bit to warm in the room and the window opened just a little bit.It's not a hotel anymore,more like serviced apartment building.

26/12/2025: I went in before closing time (apparently today 26th they close at 5:30 and it was before 5) and was told it was takeaway only, which was fine. However, when I asked the staff member at the pastries counter what the items were (the labels were missing), she repeatedly said she didn’t know, turned her back on me, and continued cleaning. I asked if there was anything with lemon. She said no, but when I pointed at a pastry I thought was lemon, she then said “it’s lemon” — without any apology or explanation. I ended up buying it because it looked nice, but honestly I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for her attitude. I work in customer service myself and understand how tiring busy or festive shifts can be, but basic politeness is still part of the job. The pastry looks okay. A bit overpriced for the size, 4.95€ but the service really needs improvement.

12/12/2025: Warm and food well priced, had lunch food was good. Only bad thing need to be more generous on the roast potatoes only had one on my plate.

08/05/2026: Brilliant place for a family night out, a treat for your kids, or even just a simple door dash after work. Burgers are excellent chips are nicely seasoned and the milkshakes are top tier. The only reason I give this four stars is the looks of the burgers. They usually look a bit sad. I guess no Instagram pics for the ladies, eh? But I'm not materialistic so I don't mind.

05/05/2026: I orderd a medium mcplant with garlic sauce, (they forget the garlic sauce) Medium fries: the fries was cooked well but the oil taste was really bad. Taste like burned oil. I was a chef, i know the oil wasn't changed for days. But nice people.

24/02/2026: Newer owners over the last six months or so. These guys are night and day compared to the lads that ran the place for the last two or three years. The pizzas are absolutely bangin! They make the dough freshly in front of you and are generous with the toppings. Always a tasty pizza! Fish is crispy, fresh and flaky too if you like fish.

07/06/2026: Ordered a steak sandwich and couldn’t describe how much muck it was chips came out cold and raw steak was like rubber and 2 onion rings smelt like old dirty greese not even a pepper sause to go with the dish had to ask and was charged extra. Would not recommend this dump

02/06/2026: Very friendly atmosphere, dog friendly, staff are lovely, and you won't be disappointed with the food. Not only that but the environment itself has a load of history surrounding it. You'll find it hard to leave.
