The best restaurants in Athlone

26/03/2024: I've been using the Athlone Springs Hotel for over 10 years now & I can't fault it. I regularly use their meeting room facilities & their accommodation. I've found them to be of the highest standard. From the moment you enter the hotel you'll find all the staff friendly & helpful from the reception desk to the conference staff & the amazing breakfast team. All go above & beyond to make your stay as stress free & comfortable as possible. I've stayed in many hotels throughout Ireland & I would rate the Athlone Springs Hotel as the No.1 for hospitality & service. A special mention to Nicole in conference & events who is an absolute asset to the team & has made all my booking a breeze to organise. Book the Athlone Springs with confidence & you're sure to return again.

17/03/2024: Extremely dissapointed. I can honestly say this is the worst 4 star hotel I have ever been in. I booked a double room for 2 nights, when we arrived we just dropped our bags and went for lunch, where i had two glasses of wine which is why i HAD to spend 1 night here. If i had noticed the bed etc before i would have left, a lot of places put 2 singles together to make a double... but they are normally two level mattress! there was a 3-4 inch difference in height with the mattress and the bed felt very old. I then moved over to the single bed to try and sleep but that was sinking becase of broken springs and it had lots of squeaks and noise when just rolling over. It is over rated and over priced. It was also flity which with every thing covid-19 was quite concerning straight away, There were handprints on the doors, the hall doors were closed which defeated the point of santaising your hands, then having to push through 4 doors to get to your room 🤔The headboards were dusty not cleaned at all, the bed bases were dirty and uncovered, the phone was full of dust. The carpets were full of stains. VERY limited tv stations which wouldn't normally bother me but with the fact that you can't go out or sit in the bar the ball was dropped here, i mean the basic sky package would have made a huge difference. Netflix was on the TV but you had to use your own login so if you didn't have an netflix account it was pointless. The whole place needs to be updated Early morning constant doors banging, neighbours had a noise complaint where the night manager came up and told them to keep it down, when they were just chatting, while a party was going on in a room up the hall and nothing was said to them. Staff were not apologetic when i told them why i was leaving, honestly it was as if this was an everyday occurance, like ugh another one. They didn't even have the decincy to offer a refund, This was the most disappointing booking i have ever made, I wouldn't give the Athlone Springs 1star, but as it is the lowest rating your allowed I didn't have a choice. I would never revisit nor does it give me much hope for future staycations this year 🤨

31/03/2024: Been to this place on many occasions. I used to order their Irish Breakfast. I used to enjoyed it until recently. Used to come with hashbrown & mushroom. Now mushroom replaced by slice potatoes and mushroom is missing. For now, I will give their Irish breakfast a miss. Not for me. But their seafood chowder still a must try. Still as delicious as ever. The waitress are all very nice, courteous and pleasant. 5*. Ambience is great too. Nice & clean place. In summary, recommended place for a quick meal.

05/04/2024: This place is excellent! Having traveled for more than 12 hours on very little sleep, it was nice to sit down to a very delicious Classic Indian dishes. The people here are super nice and accommodating to dietary restrictions and offered friendly travel advise as well!

04/04/2024: I have ordered food for a party, 1st time very satisfied so 2nd time obviously expected the same and ordered food but completely disappointed the food I ordered and the ones they sent are completely different, taste and quantity was poor and when asked no proper response and not even an apology either answering rude or no answer. Worst experience not recommended

15/10/2023: Danny O Leary was playing and the atmosphere (even after our loss to your Kiwis) was electric. Fran - our inflatable friend had a big part (lol) to play in that. Crowd was in great form too. Can we do it all again next weekend? It'll take us that long to recover anyway. 🤣🤣

24/09/2023: Fantastic bar with excellent seating, fantastic food. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff. Great bar for sport with multiple big screen tv's. Great pub for live music. Classic rock cover band 'Déjà Vu' were playing while we were there, Great Great band!

02/03/2024: Went here as a family, one of the worst meals we have had in a long time! The best part of the meal apart from leaving was the chips, absolutely terrible!

18/02/2024: Top class! Best steak I've ever had in Ireland. Perfectly cooked medium rare, unlike many other restaurants which over cook their steaks! If you're in Athlone this restaurant is a must.

30/03/2024: Third time over the course of a year to have dinner here, never disappointed. Their lamb bunny chow starter was outstanding. Huge portions, lovely ambiance. Service excellent.

03/02/2024: Good coffee, delicious pistachio cake, not sweet. It is light and has a wonderful taste.

30/12/2023: Coffees are good like a standard good whereas in other Nero coffee shops are better. Not impressed at all with the service for a lovely venue and well decorated

07/10/2023: First of all I ordered for collection and it said that I can collect anytime before 22:20…. Shortly after I ordered they cancelled my order . I rang them and asked what was the story and a very rude what sounded like young woman said that the kitchen closed at 21:30 which makes no sense as online it said I can order for collection until 22:20. She then very rudely told me to put in my order again online which I did , when I got there a blonde girl that sounded like the same girl that was on the phone to me made the rudest face at me and said “ eh hello ? “ as if we were not welcome . When I got home with the food the sushi tastes like absolute rubbish and my mother would not eat it as she said she didn’t even want to chance it , my boyfriend took one piece and couldn’t even swallow it and had to spit it in the bin . Overall I would not recommend this place as the customer service is awful and so was the sushi not to mention we spent €114 on it .

11/02/2024: Ordered her based on recommendations I was working in the area. The food was delicious, and I definitely would return. Plus, the points they take card and.gave a free portion of duck spring rolls as our order was over a certain amount.
