The best restaurants in Galway

10/07/2024: We visited from UK and was really shocking to see this was the only LGBTQ+ bar in Galway. Bar was very small and atmosphere was definitely off! However host and bar persons were brilliant! Music was available on request which is always fun and plenty to choose from on the cocktail menu

03/07/2024: From Canada, in Galway durin our spring break in March. I had horrible experience. Looked up gay bar. Excited to go on late aftenoon with my str8 brother in law. Just to be made fun and ridiculd by bad queen i guess hosting a str8 girls night. All for that and great for doing...but once we walked in, door not locked, NOT EVEN A SIGN OUTSIDE saying closed fir private event. Once i heard it say thats why door is closed...made me sooo pissed off at how you treat new guests. In my world, you put a sign on door saying private party. Not make fun of tourist who just wanted to go to safe gay place. I will NOT recommend this place, and hope someone will open another gay place to go...or at least fire that wannabe queen. She not even a princess.....just trash.

09/05/2025: Ok food (reason i'm giving more than 1 star) reasonably priced and clean. However the service I got was absolutely awful. I got the full irish which you get a free tee/coffee with. Personally I can't have caffeine (medical reasons), therefore I asked for a decaf coffee. Yes I could just ask for a hot chocolate or something however i thought for something different would be nice. I made it very clear to the waitress atleast twice of my order at the till, which seemed ok so I sat and waited. Fast forward 10 or 15 minutes later and she came with my cappuccino. I asked, to double check, if it's decaf to which she slowly said no. I then (again) explained i can't have caffeine and would like a decaf coffee instead. As she was taking it away she HUFFED as if it was all my fault. My friend noticed she wasn't writing anything down while ordering, and the restaurant was fair quite at the time (that said she did seem to be the only one behind the till.) God knows if I had another food intolerance. Again a few minutes passed and this other waiter came with a cappuccino. I asked if its decaf which he said yes to (this turned out to be my friend's which I didnt know we got the same drink lol). A few seconds later the same lady came out with my coffee. I again questioned if it was decaf where she said yes. At this point I gave it to my boyfriend as I felt couldn't trust them. After drinking it he said there's 100% caffeine in there (I definitely felt more awake after a few sips myself) The waitress seemed to not give a toss about being there. What makes it angry is the way she dealt with the situation. I also work in hospitality (including being a barista at times), and I myself had times where I might make a mistake. However I'd always rectify them and show good customer service. She literally lied to me about what type of coffee it was and made me feel bad for asking to send it back. The manegers really have to give their employees a customer service crash course or something Great start to the day 😃 A few extra points: at first I ordered a mocha, however was charged €12 when the menu said €11.50. When I asked about this she said the mocha was an extra 50 cents. She never said that prior nor as far as I could tell it said on the menu. Also the food came before the drinks, which i thought was a bit weird as usually its the other way around. These weren't not that much of a deal however, just thought I'll point these out aswell.

09/03/2025: Have tried the pasta a couple times and it was awful. Low quality and maybe cooked wrong. Chicken was chewy and flavourless. Other dishes could be good though

11/08/2025: Dirty taps.... There's also a creepy barman .. he looks like a hippy sort of guy, maybe a student, I was with my sister and he was making the two of us uncomfortable by staring in a creepy way..maybe because no other women in pub, he was on his phone also when we were waiting for a beer, ok dive bar but won't go back over that creep.

03/08/2025: Spent some time in galway for the races.. everything was great but also expensive... Went into Kennedy's for a beer and the young barman with long hair and beard asked me and my two friends did we want cocaine, ive reported this to the Garda, also I think he was drunk or hungover because you could smell it off him.. galway was great but I wouldn't recommend here

16/08/2025: Poor quality kebabs. Minus another star for not accepting card payments in 2025 (just unacceptable given current low merchant fees).

07/08/2025: The guy behind the counter making the coffee is one of the rudest people I have ever met, he is the owner to my knowledge. We work in one of the IT companies local to the area and booked a group like we have done several times in the past and had some last minute changes as half the group were delayed by 30 mins, but I rang ahead and updated the booking about 1.5 hrs before the booking time. First group arrives and he does nothing but complain about how much of an inconvenience it was to serve them. Second group arrives (I was a part of), he specifically asks where the person who made the booking was, I obviously let him know it's me, he then continues to give out to me using colourful language and says "he's already so busy that he doesn't need my business". In the interest of not causing more of a scene that he has already caused we sat down and had our lunch, the lady behind the till could not have been more apologetic as she even realised how out of order he was. He will be happy to hear though, that he will not be getting my business again and I will actively recommend that my colleagues steer clear as he does not carry himself in a professional was as all business owners should.

04/07/2025: AMAZING food, gorgeous patio! Salad & seafood pasta was delicious, got the fish & chips the next night which I enjoyed immensely. Conveniently located & worth visiting, definitely recommend!!

15/07/2025: We had the BEST time at our hen party dance class with Declan in Coyotes! Declan was absolutely amazing – full of energy, fun, and made everyone feel confident and included. We danced to Single Ladies by Beyoncé and couldn’t stop laughing from start to finish. The hen was absolutely delighted, and it gave us memories (and moves!) we'll never forget. If you're planning a hen party, this is a must – such good craic and a brilliant way to get the party started. Highly recommend! 💃💍🎉

10/07/2025: I came here some time ago with my boyfriend and the bartender made homophobic remarks and made fun of my accent as i’m not Irish originally. I left a review a while back and it was deleted. I shall not reccomend this place to anyone even if it were the last bar on earth. This bar’s reputation precedes it.

16/07/2025: I've been going to Fat Tony's as a special treat for about 2 years now, and they've never disappointed. The staff are nice and chill, the prices are decent and the food/drinks are absolutely lovely! The aesthetic of the cafe is also stunning. It's biker themed with some more hipster thrown in. Super relaxed and cozy to sit and enjoy whatever you order :) In the photo; Mocha, quite a large lemon drizzle & matcha Blondie, also quite a large red velvet soft cookie (total: 13€)

07/06/2025: Love the cafe - great coffee and hapi bakery delicious treats. Staff are friendly and welcoming and seats are comfortable!

05/08/2025: Portion size of curry fries and garlic fries was smaller than that of a child's portion.

07/09/2025: When I walked into this café, I immediately noticed that the prices weren't displayed, which set a disappointing tone for the entire experience. The food fell short of expectations— the sausages and sourdough were tough and hard, and the rashers were of subpar quality. Service was consistently lacking, with long wait times and multiple trips to the counter to ask for missing items like drinks. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience and I will not be returning.

31/08/2025: Left standing at food counter for a very long time no acknowledgement that we were there.With Costa opening shortly they need to wake up or lose alot of custom.

20/07/2025: They don’t take time to explain the dishes . It feels like they are in a hurry Always Not too great .asked for spicy and it was very bland and dint quite understand what I meant . Never coming back again .
