The best restaurants in Galway

21/06/2025: The worst and most expensive coffee I've had in the past couple of years – completely tasteless. You only find out after the fact that the price has gone up to €4.20 for a cup of cappuccino. The expressions on the staff's faces scream that you're not welcome and they can't wait for you to leave. They have never smiled. After thanking them for the coffee, I received no response, just a sideways glare. I've sworn never to return to this place and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone – unless you enjoy feeling uncomfortable and drinking hot water.

20/01/2025: So far I have a good experience with that place. The breakfast menu is cheap and tastes good, even for the lunch you can grab a big burger full of beef with cheese and vegetable with fries for 7,95€, which is undoubtedly the best price so far. The cleaning could be better.

11/12/2024: Never supply any cutlery and now they started charging for wooden cutlery at the till. Blaming students for stealing them. Anyone could steal them not just students. Not even a nice restaurant would charge for take away cutlery.

10/06/2025: Delicious coffee can be enjoyed on the cobblestone pedestrian street in downtown Galway. Live music from artists parades through the streets while you enjoy the aroma and flavor of the coffee.

08/07/2025: Absolutely disappointed with Lana in Salthill. The service was shockingly bad the server was rude and acted like we were an inconvenience. To make matters worse, the food was completely tasteless and bland, definitely not worth the price. I expected so much more given the location, but this was a total letdown. Save your money and go elsewhere; there are far better places in Galway. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

08/07/2025: I’ve never written a review before, but this experience was so upsetting that I felt people deserve to know. The food was average at best, but the service was downright appalling. When my partner and I walked in, we weren’t greeted just met with a rude “What you want?” from a staff member. It immediately made us feel uncomfortable. We were then ignored by a waitress who deliberately skipped our table while taking orders from customers who arrived after us. Eventually, a different waitress took our order, but the experience already felt off. The worst part? We weren’t even halfway through our meal when the same rude waitress came over and asked if she could clear our plates WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING. No apology, no explanation. Just trying to rush us out, even though other tables with empty plates were left untouched. It felt targeted, and incredibly disrespectful. We left feeling humiliated and angry. Absolutely unacceptable service, and I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting even basic courtesy.

26/06/2025: I have been here a few times and it’s always lovely. The almond croissants are amazing. it is very affordable the coffee and food is all priced very fairly. The young woman with red hair that works there is lovely. She is always polite and hardworking. A few times that I’ve visited she has been working all by herself and managing a large rush and queue. She is very efficient and professional.

16/06/2025: Only tried 2 things so difficult to judge the restaurant. The chocolate tart was good. Strong simple well executed. Simple smooth chocolate. Crust was just right. The chocolate eclair was just ok. Would like to try the savory tarts next time.

15/07/2025: Paramos aquí después de cenar en el Barrio Latino. Tienen una variedad única de sabores de helado. Tomé el pastel de natillas y limón. Te darán una cucharada de dos sabores si quieres. Era tan cremoso y lleno de sabor. Muy muy bueno. Buena relación calidad-precio.

20/05/2025: Just don't order the wings. They are basically pigeon wings with mayo, not bleu cheese as stated. However, the hotel is wonderful and the chowder was very good. The breakfast is decent. But get there early, for they run out of potatoes and eggs. You really don't want to miss the eggs; they're perfect.

06/04/2025: Dillisk está dentro del Harbour Hotel y es un lugar muy acogedor. Nuestra primera visita fue en una mañana irlandesa lluviosa después de un vuelo nocturno que nos dejó cansados y hambrientos. Grace y Lana amable y profesional nos proporcionó refugio, café y pasteles mientras esperábamos las llaves para nuestro nuevo piso en los muelles. Desde que nos mudamos, hemos regresado felices para deliciosos y deliciosos almuerzos allí y planeamos regresar pronto para cenar al aire libre.

10/07/2024: We visited from UK and was really shocking to see this was the only LGBTQ+ bar in Galway. Bar was very small and atmosphere was definitely off! However host and bar persons were brilliant! Music was available on request which is always fun and plenty to choose from on the cocktail menu

03/07/2024: From Canada, in Galway durin our spring break in March. I had horrible experience. Looked up gay bar. Excited to go on late aftenoon with my str8 brother in law. Just to be made fun and ridiculd by bad queen i guess hosting a str8 girls night. All for that and great for doing...but once we walked in, door not locked, NOT EVEN A SIGN OUTSIDE saying closed fir private event. Once i heard it say thats why door is closed...made me sooo pissed off at how you treat new guests. In my world, you put a sign on door saying private party. Not make fun of tourist who just wanted to go to safe gay place. I will NOT recommend this place, and hope someone will open another gay place to go...or at least fire that wannabe queen. She not even a princess.....just trash.

07/07/2025: The place was supposed to be nice, I've been there a few times bc I work nearby. One day the team was very stressed and what looked like a manager or else, a tiny woman, got there and lots of orders started to go wrong. I stood there for a couple of hours working on my laptop and could hear her being very disrespectful with the team, clearly (looks like her name) harassing. One girl mentioned something about not getting payslips from the company, and all the time after the tiny woman left (saying she was going to another company's shop to "take a look" – to me it sounds like she was going to disrespect and control more people) they were complaining about her and saying that they will soon leave the company because of this woman whose name starts with C. This woman looks like trouble and th people working there said very very worrying things about her. I wouldn't want someone who makes my workers stressed like this ever, and I heard very very worrying things, illegal things, that she does. And all of the wrong orders were her fault; she treated everyone with much disrespect. If the company's owner sees this, I would get rid of this tiny woman – she is causing a headache in many many many people around and it's reflecting in the service. I myself will never set my foot on Synge and Byrne again for feeling sorry about the workers who need to keep up with so much disrespect coming from such condescendent manager whose name starts with Cla. I will also tell everyone I know to avoid going there and to also give some reviews here, some of them already saw the same situation there. Get rid of this woman, she will sink your company.

13/06/2025: Nice place and spacious. I ordered the soup as the lettuce in the salad options at the counter didn’t look appealing. Pricing seemed high for some of the menu items and there were no glasses available only paper cups. The children’s sausage and chips were very plentiful and well priced. I would go again with the kids and maybe have a hot drink and a piece of cake as their desserts looked lovely.

25/04/2025: Fabuloso lugar para comer. Perfecto para familias o una noche de fiesta. Gran selección en el menú y la comida era deliciosa. Recomiendo reservar para evitar decepciones, ya que está bastante ocupado

17/04/2025: Mi prometido y yo vamos allí todo el tiempo. La comida es siempre al más alto nivel y el personal es muy agradable. ¡No puedo encontrar ningún fallo en el restaurante!

09/05/2025: Ok food (reason i'm giving more than 1 star) reasonably priced and clean. However the service I got was absolutely awful. I got the full irish which you get a free tee/coffee with. Personally I can't have caffeine (medical reasons), therefore I asked for a decaf coffee. Yes I could just ask for a hot chocolate or something however i thought for something different would be nice. I made it very clear to the waitress atleast twice of my order at the till, which seemed ok so I sat and waited. Fast forward 10 or 15 minutes later and she came with my cappuccino. I asked, to double check, if it's decaf to which she slowly said no. I then (again) explained i can't have caffeine and would like a decaf coffee instead. As she was taking it away she HUFFED as if it was all my fault. My friend noticed she wasn't writing anything down while ordering, and the restaurant was fair quite at the time (that said she did seem to be the only one behind the till.) God knows if I had another food intolerance. Again a few minutes passed and this other waiter came with a cappuccino. I asked if its decaf which he said yes to (this turned out to be my friend's which I didnt know we got the same drink lol). A few seconds later the same lady came out with my coffee. I again questioned if it was decaf where she said yes. At this point I gave it to my boyfriend as I felt couldn't trust them. After drinking it he said there's 100% caffeine in there (I definitely felt more awake after a few sips myself) The waitress seemed to not give a toss about being there. What makes it angry is the way she dealt with the situation. I also work in hospitality (including being a barista at times), and I myself had times where I might make a mistake. However I'd always rectify them and show good customer service. She literally lied to me about what type of coffee it was and made me feel bad for asking to send it back. The manegers really have to give their employees a customer service crash course or something Great start to the day 😃 A few extra points: at first I ordered a mocha, however was charged €12 when the menu said €11.50. When I asked about this she said the mocha was an extra 50 cents. She never said that prior nor as far as I could tell it said on the menu. Also the food came before the drinks, which i thought was a bit weird as usually its the other way around. These weren't not that much of a deal however, just thought I'll point these out aswell.

09/03/2025: Have tried the pasta a couple times and it was awful. Low quality and maybe cooked wrong. Chicken was chewy and flavourless. Other dishes could be good though

07/05/2025: Very good service at this place❤️ The staff is so so sweet they listen to us suggest us, and even give us free sides which is not possible at every place! But talkinga bout food, we like spicy food but it was not spicy n more on sweet side maybe if that is improved then the yummy wok is really going to be good place to hangout for Asians😁 Service: 5/5 Food: 2.5/5 Menu: 4.5/5 (good variety) Location: 4/5
