The best restaurants in Galway

13/08/2025: LONG AND HONEST REVIEW AHEAD. We did NOT end up dining here due to the below events. VERY unprofessional. Not sure if it was just the selection of staff when we stopped, but they were all sat outside on benches lounging about when we pulled in. Stopped here with the intention of grabbing a couple of sandwiches. We were looking through the menu online in the parking lot before heading inside, but not even 2 minutes after parking, some guy came recklessly barreling into the lot, honking at the female staff (who were all giggling and sticking up their middle fingers—clearly all friends.) He then proceeded to whip into the space next to me, swing his door open, and very obviously clip my side mirror. I was absolutely shocked, not only that this had all happened, but that he didn’t apologize or acknowledge that it happened. I got out of my car, checked the mirror, and noticed a very obvious mark. I told the gentleman (who was now sat outside with the girls on the benches smoking) and he came right over. Said he worked at a garage and could “take care of it real quick” for me. I was not comfortable with this as the car is a rental. I took down his name and phone number in case the rental agency has an issue. He did not apologize once, and after he went and sat back down, none of the staff seemed to care either. In fact, they were laughing the whole time. I’m glad I didn’t end up spending money here. Terrible lack of professionalism.

01/08/2025: Great atmosphere, amazing customer service really recommended and my coffee always top quality.

02/10/2025: I come to McDonald's on my lunch break and it is full of school boys. They all are buzzing around asking for tokens for free food while helping themselves to your chips. It's not on. I work hard all day and deserve somewhere to enjoy my lunch in peace.

04/07/2025: Soy un cliente fiel de Xian, pero después de la experiencia de hoy, fue decepcionante por decir lo menos. Mi comida tardó una hora en llegar, se equivocaron en mi pedido, el servicio fue lento, había pelos en mi pollo y me sentí mal del estómago después de eso. No volveré.

04/07/2025: I went to Cian for my usual i am a loyal customer but not after today i went in services was shocking it took an hour for food , messed up my order , hair in my food and left me waiting after asking for a simple order i will not be returning …….

23/08/2025: To begin with, on the map the establishment is located away from the main complex, in reality it is at the entrance to the oceanarium, and the others are to the right in the same building. First, the heavy smell got to me already at the entrance. The second floor did not improve the situation. The food is ordinary. The only plus is the location. There are enough more interesting offers nearby and around the corner

23/08/2025: This used to be a nice place but has gone way downhill. From entering you can tell the place needs to be cleaned, painted, maintained. The service was fast but the food was inedible, far too sweet, I couldn't manage more than 2 spoons. My 4 year old ate a good bit of chicken and then felt sick the rest of the day. It's a shame such a nice location should offer a better experience

09/05/2025: Ok food (reason i'm giving more than 1 star) reasonably priced and clean. However the service I got was absolutely awful. I got the full irish which you get a free tee/coffee with. Personally I can't have caffeine (medical reasons), therefore I asked for a decaf coffee. Yes I could just ask for a hot chocolate or something however i thought for something different would be nice. I made it very clear to the waitress atleast twice of my order at the till, which seemed ok so I sat and waited. Fast forward 10 or 15 minutes later and she came with my cappuccino. I asked, to double check, if it's decaf to which she slowly said no. I then (again) explained i can't have caffeine and would like a decaf coffee instead. As she was taking it away she HUFFED as if it was all my fault. My friend noticed she wasn't writing anything down while ordering, and the restaurant was fair quite at the time (that said she did seem to be the only one behind the till.) God knows if I had another food intolerance. Again a few minutes passed and this other waiter came with a cappuccino. I asked if its decaf which he said yes to (this turned out to be my friend's which I didnt know we got the same drink lol). A few seconds later the same lady came out with my coffee. I again questioned if it was decaf where she said yes. At this point I gave it to my boyfriend as I felt couldn't trust them. After drinking it he said there's 100% caffeine in there (I definitely felt more awake after a few sips myself) The waitress seemed to not give a toss about being there. What makes it angry is the way she dealt with the situation. I also work in hospitality (including being a barista at times), and I myself had times where I might make a mistake. However I'd always rectify them and show good customer service. She literally lied to me about what type of coffee it was and made me feel bad for asking to send it back. The manegers really have to give their employees a customer service crash course or something Great start to the day 😃 A few extra points: at first I ordered a mocha, however was charged €12 when the menu said €11.50. When I asked about this she said the mocha was an extra 50 cents. She never said that prior nor as far as I could tell it said on the menu. Also the food came before the drinks, which i thought was a bit weird as usually its the other way around. These weren't not that much of a deal however, just thought I'll point these out aswell.

11/11/2025: Easily one of the dirtiest coffee shops I’ve ever been in. Tables, floors, and counters were all filthy - clearly no one’s keeping up with cleaning.

05/11/2025: We were there on holiday. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a kids' cheeseburger. We didn't have to wait long for the food. It was very tasty. Unfortunately, there's no customer restroom, which is quite useful if you're staying longer or want to wash your hands after eating. All in all, though, we were very satisfied.

27/10/2025: I ate yesterday night here. At first, food looked really good but taste was amazing, I recommend it at all and I will go again undoubtedly.

08/10/2025: Always great coffee and great service by happy staff.

16/09/2025: Visited Insomnia twice during our stay in Galway and found it to serve an amazing latte. The place (and tables) are kept clean and service is excellent. Pricing is fair too.

26/09/2025: Great for an emergency fill up .

21/09/2025: Poor service took 30min for a pizza lady that worked there was very rude and had poor costumer service

15/11/2025: The place is fine, but having to go to the bathroom urgently with an hour to spare before closing time and being told I couldn't, and that I couldn't even use the accessible restroom, is shameful. If they don't want to work, they shouldn't make it so obvious.

06/11/2025: Now please tell me how you manage to give me a chocolate mixed with vanilla milkshake after me getting a vanilla one these workers must be off their heads cause not once have they acc got my order right ordering from here

14/07/2025: Las fichas eran terribles, empapadas y tristes. El arroz frito estaba rancio. El Kunk Po está bien y el pollo al curry, pollo como goma. Muy pobre

30/06/2025: Service is pretty good, they give lots of water (no charges), let to use the bathroom and the guy that works here is pretty chill, food is also pretty good, it’s a must in Galway 🔥🙏

15/10/2024: Lovely pub! The staff is really helpful and if you're looking for a place to do a group party or celebrate something with friends, I definitely recommend it. They have a separate area that its great for it.

27/09/2024: These haters can shut up. This place is great. Wonderful spot got a quiet pint away from the tourists and noise of city centre. We’re American and found it to be aces. Wonderful music on Wednesday nights. Friendly staff.

07/09/2025: We have never had a bad meal here. The salmon is great, the drinks are great, the views are great.

01/09/2025: I went for a meal with my girlfriend on 31st of August. The meal was absolutely fantastic, the service was very very good. I had mentioned it was my girlfriend's birthday on the reservation and we got 2 complimentary drinks and our dessert came out with a candle and a happy birthday note in chocolate on the plate. I will definitely come back again with friends and family.
