O'Hehirs Bakery

Galway
08/12/2024: Love the staff 😍they are always so happy 😊 and so helpful at finding a table for you.
03/12/2024: I was in here earlier today and I was absolutely disgusted at the way an older customer was treated! We were just finishing up our food when I heard a server raising her voice to an older lady sitting at the next table. The lady was waiting for her daughter before she ordered her food. She simply told the server that she was waiting for her daughter. The server aggressively told her "you cannot sit here until you have ordered your food". The lady tried explaining that she was waiting for her daughter. That wasn't enough... Another staff member came over telling the lady "you cannot sit here. That table is for people who have already ordered their food". So now there were two servers standing over her as if it wasn't embarrassing enough for her. All the nearby tables could hear them. The lady again tried explaining that she was just waiting for her daughter. These two staff members were so horrible to her. It was absolutely disgusting to see. The poor lady was absolutely mortified. There was another table at the wall that the people ordering could have sat at. I offered the lady our table as we were leaving. She seemed a lovely lady and visibly upset and embarrassed. I was genuinely upset myself for a good while after witnessing the way they treated her. Disgusting!!

Prom Restaurant

Galway
30/04/2025: Perfect dinner for a warm end of a sunny day! My husband enjoyed the Wild Cod and I ordered the King Prawn with Gnocchi and a glass of Pinot Grigio. The restaurant is part of the Salthill Hotel, strategically located right across the street from the beach. The perfect night was capped by a sunset stroll watching the kids diving off the platform and golfers trying not to lose their cool! Lovely time!
05/04/2025: We joined the restaurant for our business dinner. Apart from our group, it was another group nearby, one couple and 2 other guests. So it was practically empty. Therefore it was just a waiter to look after all the floor. The interior and seating area looks very fashonable and I liked the details. Very comfy chairs too. I ordered the soup of the day which was tasty and came with soda bread and a selection of butter. The problem was the main course. I ordered the catch of the day, which was fish and chips. Both were tepid, not hot like you get straight from the kitchen, which I assume the plate was left on the kitchen counter to cool down maybe waiting for the other orders. Chips were not crispy outside but soggy, like when you eat them after a while. Although the dish presentation was very good but the food unfortunately not. So after few bites I was not enjoying the tasting experience so I left my food on the plate. The waiter was friendly.

The House Hotel

Galway
17/07/2025: We just returned from our time in Galway and had a wonderful experience at the House Hotel. The location and hospitality were amazing. We were set up in the apartment down the street and it was fantastic. Special thanks to Jules and Emmett at the front desk for making us feel welcome and making our trip special. Emmett makes the best whiskey sour in Ireland. Thanks again.
12/07/2025: Rooms are great, very silent and comfortable. Breakfast is amazing and every single staff member provided a friendly and helpful service. Is just a great hotel right at the right location. My only complain is such tiny showers. And the bathroom has space for bigger showers. Should make them bigger.

Kennedy bar

Galway
13/04/2025: Loved the possibility to attend Irish and European dance classes in this bar! Truly a refreshing opportunity with lots of fun and learning. The staff and dance instructors are friendly, welcoming and nice.
17/03/2025: I went to Kennedy's for an event last night and can confidently say I will never return. The bouncers were extremely homophobic to my friend and shouted “sick” at them as we left as they didn’t dress like every man in Ireland does. Gross, disgusting man. I also rang today to ask if a passport had been handed in and the rudest women barked back at me to tell me they wouldn’t bother checking until tomorrow. It’s St. Patrick’s day so I get how busy they must be but the tone was aggressive and unnecessary. Hard avoid if possible.

Supermac's

Galway
14/06/2025: First of all I don't like the concept that there is no menu anywhere - that's really tourist-unfriendly. There are a few changing pictures on screens, that's true, but I don't think that they have only four or five burgers to choose from. And even if they only have four burgers, what's the problem with putting a simple menu on the wall like Mc Donald's and Burger King do? The Service was not very friendly as well and I was the only guest that didn't get his burger on a serving tray, but just in my hand even though I was sitting on a table. When he handed me the packed Burger I just left and ate it outside. And to complete the experience the Burger was not even good - the taste was really "flat" compared to other Fast Food restaurants. So from now on it's Burger King and Mc Donald's again for me - Supermac's is no alternative.

Curry&Spice

Galway
10/07/2025: 🏆 Michelin Tire Award for Excellence in Jaw Endurance 1 Star (because zero wasn’t an option) Category: Most Relentless Misrepresentation of Lamb Biryani. Let me paint you a picture. I, a humble survivor of many a food disappointment, placed my trust (and money) in what I thought was going to be a comforting, flavorful lamb biryani. What I received, instead, was a masterclass in how to assassinate expectations and ruin someone's evening. I want to be absolutely clear, I’m not awarding this dish a Michelin star. That would imply some semblance of quality. No, I’m awarding it what it truly deserves: a Michelin tire, because the lamb tasted like it was carved off a radial sidewall and braised in remorse. Every chew was a negotiation. My jaw filed a union complaint. I didn’t eat that biryani, I endured it. This wasn’t “cooked” lamb. This was “slow-chewed” regret. A meditative exercise in dental attrition. Every bite was a war crime against flavor, and every swallow was an existential question. Who cooked this? And why do they hate happiness? What spice mix did they use, printer toner? Was the recipe: “Find meat, remove joy, replace with despair”? I ordered the dish expecting 'comfort food'. What I got was needing therapy and floss. And possibly a jaw reconstruction specialist. Gordon Ramsay wouldn’t yell, he’d just walk out in silence and softly weep into a raw scallop.
08/07/2025: Quick service and a wide variety of tasty dishes.

Álainn Salthill

Galway
09/06/2025: This review is about sustainability only! By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Over 95% of the plastic that we consume does not actually get recycled, but rather ends up in landfills, incinerators, and in our waterways. It is depleting ecosystems all over the world and here in Galway. I was disappointed to see so much single use plastic being sold and discarded at this establishment. Especially because of its location right on the water. It feels shameful to try to enjoy these stunning views while simultaneously contributing to pollution that harms these very ecosystems. Surely, there is a way that you can incentivize customers to bring their own reusable mugs at the very least. Or, because of the attached restaurant, perhaps you can explicitly ask customers if they are enjoying their beverage to stay, and give them the dignity of a real mug that will not pollute the waters that they have come to enjoy and learn from. You could promote bringing your own cup on social media, you could have more clear, recycling or compost infrastructure, you could give small discounts to those of us bringing our own cups, you could try literally anything. But it will take both customers and businesses to work together to stop perpetuating the plastic pollution crisis that is plaguing our entire planet. Thank you for considering how to help Galway locals and tourists. Be better to the Galway ecosystem.
27/04/2025: All the standard coffeees plus nice/healthy bowls. Coffee is very nice. The staff though!! Everytime I go there I seem to get someone who's making their first coffee. Unnecessary queues down the path. I worked in baristas before. Staff aren't sufficiently trained. Place is always a mess. The service area, self service area and shelf beside it. Ground is always filthy. Definitely the most expensive take away coffee joints in the city, yet unwilling to pay for decent staff. Wish it was better. Only place around so they can do what they want I guess. Hope inside is better equipped.

Ground & Co.

Galway
21/06/2025: The worst and most expensive coffee I've had in the past couple of years – completely tasteless. You only find out after the fact that the price has gone up to €4.20 for a cup of cappuccino. The expressions on the staff's faces scream that you're not welcome and they can't wait for you to leave. They have never smiled. After thanking them for the coffee, I received no response, just a sideways glare. I've sworn never to return to this place and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone – unless you enjoy feeling uncomfortable and drinking hot water.
10/06/2025: Lovely little cafe! Very tasty coffee
