The best restaurants in Galway

09/04/2026: I am commenting specifically on the selection of local whiskey and spirits. They have a very large one, including lots of mini bottles or good Irish whiskey. They let you try a bunch or local whiskey and gin for free, along with some competent explanations. Overall, I'm very impressed with this store and will definitely be coming again the next time I'm in Ireland.

17/11/2025: I'd like to point out that my review refers only to the Mocha Beans guesthouse, which is located above the bar. My room was very small, with a bulky closet. Luckily, I didn't have a large suitcase, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to open it. The mattress is old and sagging, with springs that hurt my back. There are no electrical outlets in the bathroom, and to figure out how to use the shower, I had to call the owner because I wasn't told there was a button outside the bathroom to activate it. There's essentially no reception, and you're given an access code for the main door, which is the same for the room. I texted the owner several times in the days leading up to my stay to ask if it was possible to check in at 11/11:30 in the morning instead of 2:00 PM. He never answered, and when I called him after arriving, he showed up, saying the room was still occupied and that I had to return at 2:00 PM. I told him about my messages and that I hadn't received a response, but he showed no interest. Once I returned at 2:00 PM, I had to wait on the stairs because the cleaning lady hadn't finished. I had to ask for a hairdryer because there wasn't one in the room. I wasn't provided with a shower mat, and I only had a face towel and a large one. I struggled to sleep that night because of the mattress, and in the morning I woke up around 6:00 AM (the only window in the room is on the ceiling and can't be opened because it's too high, and there's no curtain). For what I paid, I didn't receive good service, and even the lady who prepared the room seemed very cold; she didn't ask if I needed anything. The cleanliness was passable. The only advantage is that it's twenty minutes from the city center. I definitely won't be returning.

19/10/2025: There is no check in as such for this bedroom so I can't rate service really. The room itself is clean and comfortable and an adequate size but there is nowhere to store clothes. There isn't enough room for a wardrobe. We were in room number 4 and the shower room isnt exactly ensuite but almost. It's opposite the room on a tiny off side corridor only for room 4. The shower room is spotless nicely tiled and the shower is lovely. There is no plug for the basin. There's no hair dryer or iron. The rooms are above a cafe so I think breakfast should be included. It is an easy walk into the centre of Galway city so perfectly situated.

22/02/2026: Horrible dirty tables Ketchup self-serve area disgusting unhygienic Service slow and make you feel like your disturbing them from doing nothing Toilets stinking and dirty Chicken on the bone dry and looked like it was knocked down and reversed over Chicken strips ok Chips undercooked and cold cheese didnt even melt on them I like supermacs but definitely wont return to this branch

04/10/2025: I recently visited Elephant and Castle with two friends, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was wonderful. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who was warm, polite, and attentive. She quickly brought over a jug of water and took our drinks order, which set the tone for a relaxed evening. We decided to try three different cocktails, and each one was absolutely delicious. For mains, two of us went for the chicken schnitzel while the third ordered fish and chips. When the food arrived, it looked incredible—and tasted even better. I completely cleared my plate, and I’m still dreaming about it. The creamy smoked bacon parmesan mash was out of this world, and paired with the rich, velvety basil cream pea sauce, it was the perfect comfort dish. Honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it—take me back right now! Between the friendly service, the amazing cocktails, and that unforgettable meal, Elephant and Castle has firmly secured a spot on my “must-return” list.

26/11/2025: My fav fav hot chocolate in the town with jumbo quantity 🤩 I tried their cookie hot choc, and it was just yum tum! Must must have it, they also have bailey hot choc available and believe me you should try out that one as well😋

08/11/2025: Coffee has deteriorated significantly in the last 12 months from a nice rich mellow consistency to a bitter, burned brew. The ambience also needs a freshen!

14/03/2026: Ordered there twice in last few months both times burritos where cold.. tried messaging on Instagram to give them a chance to make things right. The communication was dragged out to eventually being ignored would not recommend the place.... Also they charger extras on the most ridiculous things soon being charged fpr salt

06/03/2026: not good at all , the food looks nothing like the picture the tacos weren’t even tacos they were soft bread with the smallest filling and the plainest filling ever the nachos has big pieces of chicken in it and the paper at the bottom of it kept going on my food , i order it for delivery took ages and food was cold will not be buying again over priced and not as shown on pictures and not as described disappointed

27/03/2026: The Supermacs website states that this branch has a SuperSubs outlet. It doesn't. Please update the website to reflect this that someone else doesn't waste their time going there. I can't eat any of the chips or burgers on offer because they have milk and soya in them.

30/01/2026: The food is honestly delicious. What I liked most about this place is how incredibly friendly the staff are, starting from the warm welcome at the till. In particular, there is a tall gentleman who wears glasses i believe he is the manager. I noticed how warmly he welcomes customers and how he is on top of everything. Truly the right person in the right position

27/04/2026: I Used to love a boojum and when I was in Galway recently I decided to get one , the place wasn’t very busy yet I was still standing in the small Que for about half an hour which is fine whatever , I ordered a burrito bowl which literally was unable to eat it was so bad , I took about two bites and had to leave it .. the rice must be cooked in some kind of stock which wasn’t mixed into the rice properly so the rice was gritty and so salty it burnt my lips .. the Chicken was very greasy and all seemed to be fatty bits , again just horrible texture and flavour it all just seems really not fresh and of low quality . It Was just a really disappointing experience hopefully they were just having a bad day but won’t be trying it again in a hurry

23/04/2026: Whenever I order the delivery it takes a long time so once I was there in person I saw that they leave the delivery piled up waiting to pick up their orders that's why it's the delay
