The best restaurants in Galway

25/12/2025: We got married in the g 9 years ago, we have stayed there every year for the past 15 years. We celebrate our anniversary and we now have 3 December birthdays. This was all relayed through email while booking. As we have 3 small kids we love to stay at the g around Christmas and have our own little pj party. Despite sharing all this information when booking there was no welcome plate or card even left in our room on arrival, something which was always there before so that was a disappointment. The room itself was beautiful and spacious especially with our own Christmas tree. The room however was cold. The heating seemed fine on our first day but didn’t seem to work on the second day. While using the bath there was no little body wash beside it or that could be moved from the sink, which meant I had to get in and out which is a little dangerous. Breakfast selection the next morning wasn’t hectic, I chose pancakes and I asked for just strawberries and cream to be told there was no cream available. How can a 5 star hotel restaurant not have something quite basic as cream. Overall we had a nice stay but there is definitely room for improvement as initially it was even difficult to complete our reservation.

22/12/2025: Our stay was brilliant & Davidus (front office manager) made our stay special from the beginning with his warm welcome. Would 100% recommend to friends to stay here. Look forward to returning.

17/03/2026: Called in yesterday evening. Dinner delicious service excellent. Highly recommend.

28/12/2025: Terrible, the duck had probably been dead for some time.

09/11/2025: Food ok. Seating area filthy, no regular cleaning. Table tops dirty, food on floor, and trays not cleared.

07/09/2025: Service needs a lot of work. Sitting area is very dirty. Guy behind the counter ignored us to serve other people when the walked up and was then snarky when we point it out.

03/06/2025: Great array of food, very friendly staff.

24/05/2025: This place sells more than tarts, also does prepared chilled meals. Prices are good by Irish standards. I feel they could keep it a bit cleaner, including seats outside.

13/12/2025: Great place for casual business meetings. Few Chester sofas. Calm atmosphere. Cloud Picker coffee 👍

12/11/2025: A good place for morning coffee, a good place for lunch coffee, a good place for evening coffee. You can buy dessert, various T-shirts and caps, just for fun. The interior design is unusual, and I liked it. It's cozy inside, you can drink coffee and work on your laptop. You don't have to work. You can't help but enjoy this place. I recommend it.

03/12/2025: Fake indian restaurant. Don't even know how to make aloo jeera. I said my mom had a fast please give me boiled potato with salt and cumin and no other spices. they said they can only make whats in the menu. Aaloo jeera was in the menu. 🤦

01/12/2025: 5 star food and fantastic staff always love to visit tulsi when in galway. Highly reccomend this restaurant.

20/11/2025: Don't advertise staying open till late and let no one in! Let me sit outside for over an hour. Just wanted to catch up with my friends inside. Said it was full and wouldnt let me in even when plenty people left while i waited. Not a nice place

24/10/2025: This place is really cute and has a great aesthetic. I love the decor on the walls. The food itself is pretty disappointing for the price. My hot chocolate was a bit watery and I ordered a ham and cheese croissant but they said I had to take it to go since there were no seats. They popped it in a brown paper bag and the cheese and oil leaked through. It tasted ok though

21/12/2025: My friend and I booked a table there for 7 people. This is based in my own opinion First time: first time going there and it seems alright. Not too shabby. It’s really pretty Food wise: I myself as a sushi lover , the sushi is actually not too bad but the price and the food that they’re serving us just doesn’t match. I just feel like they were overcharging us for both the bbq and the sushi. We got the bbq for 2 for €50 something and the sushi platter for €33.20 for the 4 of us. The rest they ordered ramen. It just clearly feels like just not enough. Staff: very good not too bad. Overall I felt like I wasted my money going there with my friends as I said the pricing doesn’t match with the food they served us. Overall I would’ve went somewhere else.

09/12/2025: 🥴☹️ If you want to fill your stomach with something bland and flavorless rather than real food, this is the place to go. I’m not even going to comment on their tea or customer service here… but the food itself was extremely disappointing. The portions are huge, but the taste is terrible. I have never had a “spicy ramen” that tasted like a mixture of ketchup and canned beans — until now. It was truly unpleasant. As for their “sushi,” it’s nothing more than rice wrapped with seaweed and avocado, with no fish at all. Calling it sushi is misleading — it would be more accurate to call it Kimbab. Overall, a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place

19/03/2026: I loved the Italian sandwich, the mozzarella was so good. The food came out quick and the prices were fair. Great experience!

21/01/2026: We only discovered Kumar's in the last year, but soon regarded it as one of the best restaurants in town. Every meal until recently was very authentic and tasty. However, the last meals we had this year were not good at all. The starter seemed like it had been reheated or refried, and the curries were bland and very over-salted. And this is coming from someone who likes their salt! Worse still, both curries had long strips of raw ginger in them. Maybe this was meant as a kind of dressing or topping, but it's the first we've ever come across it. Raw ginger is a bit like raw garlic - it's quite pungent and very distracting in a curry. I'm guessing the ginger might be added to provide a burst of flavour in a curry, but it needs to have some bit of cooking or heating so that it isn't overpowering. I would make a confident bet that the chef in question was filling in for the regular chef, who has probably returned home for a holiday for a month or so over the Christmas/new year period. That's fair enough, but any replacement chef should be capable of seasoning dishes appropriately and perhaps holding back on the root ginger! The experience has meant that we will probably never eat at Kumar's again.

05/01/2026: Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. Food quality was shockingly poor. The samosas tasted like they were made with frozen, stale meat and had a strong unpleasant smell. Biryani was one of the worst I have ever had.. it was dry, no flavor and completely inedible. We couldn’t even eat a few bites. chicken dishes were equally bad with meat that clearly wasn’t fresh. On top of the terrible food, the service made it worse. The staff were rude, dismissive, and showed no interest in customer feedback. It felt like a complete waste of money and our day spoiled. For anyone in Galway, especially Irish/European visitors, this is not authentic Indian food by any standard. Please avoid this place.

05/03/2026: Spent the night throwing up the lobster and fish soup, was ill for days, avoid this place, spent £150 to be as sick as a dog !!!!!!!!!

14/02/2026: Wouldn’t be rushing back here came here for a valentines meal booked weeks in advance when we arrived we were informed that the menu was set at €60pp extra €6 for sides on top. Do they really expect people to get a steak with no side ? Not to mention the set menu wasn’t great there were no starters we liked the waitress was nice and informed us that we would still be paying the €60 regardless they made a compromise and gave us garlic bread instead. Steaks were small my boyfriends was very small and all fat ! Desserts came and they were only middling. Waitresses were nice this is more of a management problem. Plenty of people left while we were there and plenty complaining they were not informed of the set menu.
