20/10/2026: The cosy, multicultural and slightly messy vibe was perfect. We got the last two bowls of potato pea curry with all the toppings. Nicely spicy and filling.

18/08/2026: Definitely my favourite pub in all of Galway, staff go above and beyond and are always so lovely! Food is always incredible and service is quick. They cater for gluten free and vegan, and as a celiac they are so reassuring and attentive! Honestly can’t recommend enough :))

07/10/2026: A truly typical Irish pub. Good music, regulars who seem to be part of the decor... the kind who look like they live there. Good drinks and excellent recommendations from the staff; I'd rather not mention the prices. I'll always remember the exceptional taste of the local whisky—a great experience with the Galway spirit, definitely worth returning for. Live music and a very local atmosphere.

27/09/2026: Ok... great for trad music. But honestly, a pub like this is about the people. Bert was exactly the bartender you expect in a local pub like Darcys. Alice (spelling) was a GREAT bartender. But she was also sweet, kind and genuinely friendly to a goofy American like me. She put up with my Jameson ginger's because of my heartburn 🤣 I'll return just because of that!!

16/10/2026: Apperantly we consumed to much so they stoped serving us

16/10/2026: We stayed the whole day drinking and after 6pm they didn't serve us anymore because they thaught we drank to much even if we didn't make any trouble.

12/09/2026: Love this place, the staff are wonderful. A local cafe with fabulous ambience, from the art on the walls to the back ground music.

16/10/2026: I ordered the honey crepe, it came out cold with cream on the side, I asked for it to be heated in the microwave, the pancake came out just as cold again and the cream hadn't melted which I knew then it couldn't have been in the microwave. When I paid I just mentioned it had been cold, the table staff member was extremely rude saying how did I expect it to be, as I was leaving the same member rudely shouted I'd like to see how you make them at home rather than apologizing.

16/06/2026: I hate to leave a bad review, but I feel like I was duped by all the glowing ones as my experience was anything but. We stayed at the BlackCat for two nights and it was the two worst nights of sleep of my entire trip. Most complaints seem to be that the rooms are very small, and while that was true for my mom’s room it wasn’t for mine - it was quite spacious. However, it was so LOUD and HOT. It honestly felt like we were sleeping in the kitchen - pots and pans, trash can lids slamming, cans clanging into the trash from 1pm to just before midnight. We had to sleep with the window closed to help subdue the noise (it didn’t work) which meant the room was STIFLING hot. Even when we’d open the window after things quieted down around midnight, it barely cracks open and our room stayed significantly hotter than the hallway outside. I truly don’t know how you’d survive staying here on a warm day - a fan in the rooms would go a long way if they’d provide one. Also, it’s a very cramped building with narrow steep stairs, so just be aware of that. Had I read a review like this alerting me to the noise and heat in the rooms, I would’ve chosen elsewhere. So I feel I need to let others who are sensitive sleepers know.

04/06/2026: I'd give them 10 stars if I could🤞🏻 The price here is not so cheap (imo) but it's affordable!! Like the room is clean, adorable and it is located next to the beach!!🫶🏻 I went back to my room really late, and i asked them if they still had any desserts left. They said they didn't have any left😭 After knowing that i travel here w my boyfriend to celerate his birthday that night, they decided to make us a free dessert🫠 So so sweet. Since then, i always tell my friends to stay here if they come to Galway

15/09/2026: Absolutely a wonderful experience! The food is delicious and the service is the BEST we've had so far in Ireland. They didn't have berries for the yogurt so they offered extra granola or honey, which was totally fine. But then later they brought some berries out, saying they went out and got some! Incredible service and so thoughtful. Come to Cafe Roscoe's - you will not be disappointed!

27/08/2026: Overall disappointing experience as soon as I walked in I could already tell this was gonna be a hand full of trouble. We sat down ordered the waiter was so awkward i was shaking with discomfort. Then the day only got worse my chicken & bacon panini was place on my table only to find mayo was pouring out the sides (Shame)then the were onions and tomatoes which I did not order and worse of all the onion were out of date(tragic) I sent them back up and the lady was very rude and when I got my plain panini back it was still wrong it was like eating a bean boozled…where I been the boozled. our drinks were also forgotten nowhere to be seen in-fact it was like a blind forgetting his cane….it shouldn’t happen .when she finally got them I was greeted by a wave of awkwardness that makes you want to crawl into my underwear..and stay there. Overall bad experience we ran out of there as quick as the gingerbread man and never to return……!
