03/04/2024: Amazing food! Breakfast burger was great, butterscotch pancakes, breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict and fresh OJ. One of the best breakfast in Ireland highly recommend and local sourced farm and coffee. Must go if in Galway

31/03/2024: Fantastic seafood, all delicious! We had the croquettes and half portion of seafood chowder for starters, and the fish stew and risotto for mains. They don't take reservations for smaller groups or pairs, so we had to give our number and they call people back. In our case, we waited outside 15 minutes and were offered the option to be seated at a shared round table (which we eventually shared with 3 other pairs): this was a great way to slash waiting times and meet new people over a delicious meal!

04/04/2024: Disappointing culinary experience despite warm service. Opting for the halloumi dish, I was looking forward to its rich flavour and texture, but it tasted lacklustre. It bore the unfortunate impression of having been precooked. It lacked its natural succulence. The chips were tasty.

04/04/2024: If you are looking for decent irish home-cooked food at its best, do not look further. We were being quite lost as foreigners where we should have lunch as we wanted to taste some real authentic dishes but non of the other places we found were really convincing, then bumped into this small restaurant by accident. Seafood chowder was amazing, irish stew and baked salmon the best we’ve ever had. Huge thanks for the wonderful experience and greetings from Hungary!

02/04/2024: Great place with a fun atmosphere! Some of the best sandwiches and chips I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the Chicken Parm sandwich and the Parm Bacon Fries!

04/04/2024: Very good food. Unfortunately the head of staff is an arrogant eejit who doesn't have the slightest clue about dining etiquette and finds normal to bring starters to the table whilst his customers have barely received their aperitif. When I pointed out to him that he leave us time to finish our gin and tonics before serving the food he answered " not necessarily" and was thereafter brusque and put up an attitude. The young ladies waiting on us were charming but this guy, the short and bald one was a joke. He even started speaking broken French to us for some reason. None of us were French and I'm Irish. He gave us a good laugh though. The restaurant should consider employing someone with decent social and customer relation skills. Or at least give the silly little man some dining etiquette and frustration management courses.

01/04/2024: Food is fine but the amount of seabass in main course dish is incredibly small especially for that price. We also ordered coca cola, waiter put a lot of ice in the glass and poured only half of bottle without bringing the bottle on the table.

31/03/2024: I usually don’t write reviews, but when compared to another one star restaurant we went to the night before, Aniar did not meet the expectations. Perhaps we came on an off day, but the dishes served to us did not have the same level of intricacy or the level of care raved by other reviewers (see photos). There were many repeated elements throughout the 20+ courses - such as the dusting of nettle powder and the usage of tuile for texture. (Another item I suspected was the seafood custard cream being used in the chawanmushi and the oyster ice cream.) In addition to that, two of the dishes we had were too salty, we couldn’t finish the cod with barbecued kale despite it being visually pleasing. As for the service, we found it to be pretentious. When paying, the waiter asked what our jobs were with no intention to continue the conversation. The chef of the evening rushed his greeting to us but when we were leaving, took his time to make nice with another table. Both interactions at the end ruined an otherwise decent dinner.

07/03/2024: Stunning food with so many different components that had our taste buds dancing. Service was top notch one of our waitresses, Izzy was so lovely and attentive.

02/04/2024: Easily the best meal we had in all of Ireland (and that's not to say we didn't have other incredible meals). The food and drink here were both top tier and the service was great.

31/03/2024: This is one of those menus where you find it hard to imagine exactly how this might taste, and when you take that first bite, your mouth is amazed and delighted. The food was incredible! Our waiter suggested the braised leaks filled with bulgur & goat cheese with some sort of tomato coulis. Hmm, ok, we'll try it....it was Amazing!! OMG. As was the fish. Oh, and the appetizers. You must make reservations to eat upstairs. Go - treat yourself.

03/04/2024: ‘Fish & Bravas’ particularly delicious! However, service slow – we were set to order desserts and more drinks, but plates weren’t cleared for 15+ minutes after we had finished.

04/04/2024: Kai is definitely a restaurant that should be in your priority list while visiting Galway. All the dishes are seasonal, using superb quality products. Both the food and presentation of the dishes are memorable. Excellent service and wine list and the ambience is cozy, amiable and unpretentious. It’s not a cheap restaurant yet it’s definitely worth the bill.
