15/05/2025: Excellent fish and chips, with a great selection of fish and reasonably priced! Very friendly staff. But I agree with the other reviews, the fries aren't great...

13/05/2025: Portions are huge, the fish is tasty but the chips are meh. Kitchen is always open, this makes McDonagh's a prime spot for a quick tasty bite.

09/05/2025: Since last summer I've been here several times meeting people for lunch and the service has always been bad, but never as bad as today: 15mins waiting for a waiter to notice us, even though they served all the tables around us. When they finally did they got our order wrong. There was no salt/pepper in the table. And we spent another 10-15mins standing at the bar trying to pay, when there was a staff member behind the bar who completely ignored us. We had to call over another member of staff -who was on their phone- just to ring up our bill. The food is mediocre, but the service truly is unique.

08/05/2025: Git a 10 percent food and drink voucher for the place when i went to use it for a pint of coors the supervisor said no to it and that it was a misprint . There doing false advertising to get people in and will not honour their voucher . The supervisor was rude about it. Would not recommend

18/05/2025: It's a beautiful pub, and the atmosphere was fantastic. There were two young musicians playing Irish music. Unfortunately, it was very crowded, and we had to stand for a while. Everyone was very friendly, so we were seated relatively quickly. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We didn't eat there, so I can't rate it.

07/05/2025: Great Food, But Watch Your Belongings** I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant—the food was delicious, and the service was attentive. Everything about the dining experience was fantastic… until the end of the night. At the start of my visit, a staff member asked me to place my coat on a hanger at the entrance. I didn’t think much of it, but when I went to retrieve my jacket after dinner, it was gone. The restaurant assured me that someone must have taken it by mistake, but unfortunately, it was never returned. At this point, I can only assume it was stolen. While I truly enjoyed the food and service, losing my jacket put a damper on the experience. If you dine here, I highly recommend keeping a close eye on your belongings or holding onto them yourself.

05/05/2025: This is not a bad restaurant—quite the opposite, actually. I had many friends recommend it to me, which is why we were excited to try it. Fortunately, we managed to get a table at the last minute. We had looked at the menu online beforehand and knew exactly what we wanted to order. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the menu had changed. Out of five people, two no longer wanted a main dish because what they originally planned to eat was no longer available. As a result, we ordered three main courses and several starters. However, we quickly noticed that the service we received was not the same as for the other tables. Our portions were noticeably smaller than those of our neighbors. I understand that it may not be ideal for a restaurant when not everyone orders a main course, but in that case, the online menu should be kept up to date. With a limited selection, it’s important for guests to be able to choose a dish that truly suits them. Thank you.

25/05/2025: Traditional Irish food warmed our belly and spirits. Seafood chowder and cottage pie were very rich and delicious. Excellent coffee. Ate and watched the pouring rain outside, grateful for great food, warmth, and service. Would highly recommend.

17/05/2025: Excellent from start to finish. Such a lovely place to go, spacious, spotless, lovely food, good price but the service you receive from staff is simply amazing. I would rate the experience as being right up there with the best anywhere. Well done and I'll definitely be back

25/05/2025: The food was absolutely one of the nicest meals I've had in a while. Got the slow cooked beef and it was phenomenal. Venue was really nice and the staff were all friendly and attentive Food was a bit slow to come out but we were in a big group so makes sense. Will definitely be back!

15/05/2025: No. Food comes before drinking. Ordered wine must be requested. The steak for 35 euros was fatty, small, not medium.

11/05/2025: We had lunch here yesterday and won't be rushing back. We had always talked about eating there and how lovely it would be, but sadly it just didn't live up to the hype. The table we sat outside and enjoyed people watching. I had fish and chips. The batter was thick and very oily as if it had been cooked in oil that wasn't up to temperature and it was undercooked in places. There was hardly any fish inside the batter. My husband's breaded chicken lacked seasoning also. The chips were ok but nothing special. When my husband went to pay the waitress didn't even ask if we'd enjoyed our meal. Sadly this wasn't the experience we'd hoped for from a restaurant of that price range.

08/05/2025: Un an après, nous revenons au Gemeles et c’est le même plaisir retrouvé: un accueil chaleureux, une cuisine délicieuse à base de produits frais et locaux, un service attentif et attentionné, un décor plein de charme ! Excellent rapport qualité prix! Si nous programmons un autre séjour à Galway, c’est sur, nous reviendrons !

10/03/2025: I have to say this is a wonderful hotel. I only live down the road, but had to stay during a blackout and the rooms were lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely too, plenty of choice. Recently I've attended a function and the food was wonderful. Also I've been in the meeting rooms and they are bright and airy. All in all a super hotel, great food, staff and decor. Thumbs up from me!

26/03/2025: Personal amable y positivo - fue dos veces seguidas para el desayuno. Buena comida, amplia variedad de opciones entre bocadillos, menús, bollos y dulces. El café es bueno también, que parece una agradable sorpresa aquí en Irlanda de acuerdo con nuestra experiencia! Se me cayó el café esta mañana, una respuesta tan amable - no fue ningún problema en absoluto y el barista incluso me preparó un café nuevo sin que yo lo pidiera! Gracias.

09/02/2025: El café y todo lo demás en este pequeño café es absolutamente increíble. Hacen pequeñas quiches maravillosas y un montón de pasteles y postres. También hay una gran selección de comidas para llevar. Todo tiene un precio muy razonable y el personal es maravilloso.

06/05/2025: Decided to stop for lunch in Athlone to break up our drive from Dublin to Galway. Found this via TA while planning our trip. It was Easter Monday and we were happy they were open. Location: Seems to be a main street with shops and restaurants. Found street parking a short walk around the bend. Service: Nice. Checked on us just the right amount of times. Food: Had a vegetarian version of an Irish breakfast and it was plentiful food and tasted good. Hubby had scrambled eggs and enjoyed his dish.
