The best restaurantsof irish in Galway

07/02/2026: Always excellent. I have hadunch there three or four times over the past two months with my husband & son, often getting three different lunches from the menu and on all visits everyone was impressed and very happy with their lunch. They have a very large lunch menu daily.

20/02/2026: My partner and I visited on our trip to Galway to get some drinks. What a great place! Staff was great, Roland was amazing, recommended us some places to go in Dublin (which were great as well), and gave us some lessons on gin and some laughs. There are some board games available too for some entertainment. Bar is clean and has plenty of personality. Great selection of beer as well! Highly recommend stopping here

06/12/2025: The food was bland, unimaginative, and tasteless. We had a starter and a main course, but after these, we decided to skip dessert. There were only one size of wine glasses available, so we had to drink the Pinot Noir from a very small white wine glass. The service was inadequate and showed little interest in us, including our criticism. We felt that the service was somewhat arrogant and snobbish. We certainly won't be returning.

29/12/2025: An Púcán has a great atmosphere and friendly service, and the outdoor area is a big plus. Just a heads-up: on match days it gets very busy and loud—if you’re after a quiet, relaxed pint, it’s better to visit on a non-match day.

16/02/2026: Absolutely delicious shepards pie and vegetable soup was some of the best I’ve had. Service was excellent. Only negative was a heater was blowing strongly on us making the space very warm. Would happily return and recommend for an affordable meal.

08/01/2026: A Galway classic you can always rely on The Cellar is a Galway staple and one of those places you know you can always depend on. It’s an old reliable in the best possible way. The food is consistently excellent, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair, which isn’t always easy to find anymore. Whether you’re dropping in for a casual meal or bringing someone who’s visiting Galway, it never disappoints. It’s been doing what it does well for years, and that consistency is exactly why it’s such a favourite. Proper comfort food, a solid pint, and great value.

31/10/2025: Called in here for lunch during the week, was seated and had my order in front of me within 10/15 minutes. Their toasted sandwich, chicken pesto sandwich and chips were all super delicious and extremely well priced. Highly recommend stopping in here if you're in Athlone and looking for a tasty and affordable meal.

09/01/2026: Outdated and overpriced. This hotel is not worth ‘4 stars’. In my opinion, they have some neck to charge customers their prices. The signal is nearly non-existent on the first floor. I wasn’t acknowledged by staff at the table during breakfast - you have to ask them to bring you toast, heat up croissants/scones etc and order coffee separately as it’s not accessible at the buffet, plus there’s a price menu to pay for coffee even though I already paid for breakfast included in my room rate. I could go on and on, like the steam room wasn’t working and the button to release bubbles into the jacuzzi wasn’t functioning properly. The food was bland and lifeless. The only benefits were the gym as the equipment was a decent standard and free on-site parking. Do yourself a favour and save your money for another hotel.

06/01/2026: The branch I frequently visit is in Salthill. The staff there are across the board, so friendly, obliging and courteous. The food, (my preference are the pies,) are all delicious. They make an ab fhab, what I refer to as a Giant Jaffa Cake. 😋😋😋 Well worth the shekels no matter what you like! 👍

16/12/2025: Got a coffee so cant really comment on the food, good prices but service was absolutely atrocious, place was falling apart, hand dryer dying and atmosphere is dead

27/10/2025: We hadn't eaten here in a while but really enjoyed it. Firstly it's not cheap but the source good ingredients and good produce well cooked is never going to be cheap in Ireland. We tried 3 starters the pick of which was the beetroot. I had the John Dory as a main which was lovely. Everything was very well seasoned. They've a great selection of wine including our favourite Rose Cava. The only minus I'd have was the new York style cheesecake whilst delicious was just too small. Overall it was excellent.
