26/08/2026: If a place is in the center of town and is clearly a tourist trap, I tend to avoid it. I admit, however, that I didn't do that with The King's Head, and for the first time, I'm glad to be one of those tourists! 🏠 VENUE | A classic Irish pub with a large room designed for beer consumption and a smaller one for food. I found it to be very well-kept down to the last detail and one of the most welcoming places in Ireland. 🚶‍♂️ STAFF | The staff are all very young, and despite the crowds, they remain calm and friendly. Well done, it's quite a challenge, but you've overcome it! 👨‍🍳 CUISINE | Classic Irish cuisine, but with a few interesting dishes to discover. We went for the oysters (special), classic fish & chips, and cake to finish. Everything is truly special and made with quality ingredients. 💶 BILL | Prices are around €30 per person for a full dinner. I'd say it's reasonable for what's on offer! I recommend it.

14/06/2026: Had such a great time, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the bartenders where excellent in their work and their personalities. There are 2 bartenders who need a shout out too and that is Mark and the only female bartender whose name i never knew but she was phenomenal also, the management should be proud of the atmosphere they have created and the entertainment has been number 1

26/08/2026: I feel bad giving this review but the service was just really poor :( for context, I was traveling with a tour group that had a stop in Galway. I got there i want to say around 2:45 ish. I was told to grab a menu from the counter and seat myself anywhere for lunch. So I sat myself outside. Seemed like a bit of a bad sign because usually someone is there giving you the menu but I rolled with it. After a few minutes, I walked inside to ask if I needed to go in to place my order, since I saw some people with drinks go inside and back out with drinks. Plus I didn’t see servers helping people outside too much. When I asked inside, they said someone would come to me. Since I was solo, I had to use the bathroom but held it in so I could get my order in. After about 10 minutes or so, no one showing up, I went in and said something to the effect of hey, I’m on a bit of a tight timeline because I have to meet this tour group by a certain time, can I just place my order before I go to the bathroom. I put the order in. I got my beer shortly after, although the person serving didn’t seem to know what table to go to. I wasn’t keeping track of exactly how much time had passed but at this point, about 1/2 hour went by with no food. Sometime between, beer and the 1/2 hour point, I checked in on my order (since no one had actually served me officially, I just ordered at the bar) and was told it had been in put in 5 minutes go. At this point I was supposed to be back at my tour in 40 minutes and I wanted time to explore the city a bit and also eat. I went in and politely asked again, repeating my time constraint and explaining that I would need to leave and go somewhere else, because at this point I was worried about missing my tour group leaving. They checked and said it was on the way. Finally I got my soup, partially spilled, soon followed by a sandwich and oysters. Then I had to go in to pay the bill this way I’d have time to walk around a little (I only had 15 minutes roughly). The food was good. But this service was just really bad, there’s no way around it. I don’t know if I’m being impatient, but in other coastal areas of Ireland (Howth, Bray, Dublin), I’ve had very fast service and thought it would be the same here because I imagine it’s heavily touristed. I feel bad, the staff were trying their best, but it was just so disorganized. I must’ve talked to 5 different people just to make sure my appetizers arrived on time and even then, it didn’t. When I was inside one time, I heard one of the bartenders saying that food was only in the back of the restaurant starting at 3:30(?) and someone else said actually it’s at 4. So I’m wondering if I was even sitting in the right area. even so, I should’ve been told that. I usually don’t mind if service is a bit slower but I would’ve liked to have gotten my order taken my somebody at my table like I was told I would. Or even if they were swamped, to at least check in with me and say hey it’s coming sorry for the delay, instead of me having to get up and check with them. Plus I told them I had a tighter timeline early on. It’s a shame, food was great and I loved the atmosphere, but the service made it a stressful experience because it was so confusing and I was constantly wondering where my food was. In conclusion, I’d say go here if you have time to kill, but not if you’re coming from a tour group and have a tighter timeline.

26/08/2026: Stew really tasteful, but meat a bit tough, great service and always hopping, allowed out medium dog in the outside seating which very helpful.

17/08/2026: We ordered three dishes: soup, wings and tenders. There were excellent and the portions were very generous, we could not finish them all!

29/08/2026: We ordered gluten-free fish and chips and a burger. The chips were hard, but the fish was delicious. The service was very quick and attentive, even though it was busy.

18/08/2026: After having left The Quays across the street because the service was so bad, came here and loved it .. great menu. Super friendly and efficient service , thanks to Ruairi and better value than The Quays . Will come back .

18/08/2026: The bar enchanted us. The people, the live music, the atmosphere, the food, and the service were simply wonderful. Gemma, in particular, is a friendly, warm, and incredibly funny server who made our last evening in Galway so special. THANK YOU! Reservations are definitely recommended, or you might get very lucky :)

02/06/2026: When we arrived we were given a free upgrade to a bigger suite as it was my birthday .Huge busy hotel .Staff excellent .Rooms spotless .Music in the bar that night was very enjoyable .Have to say that for such a busy hotel I was really impressed at breakfast time at the speed at which everyone was seated .Tables were cleaned .Beverages served .Loads of buffet breakfast availible and food was good too

22/10/2025: Location was wonderful. the staff was very kind and tried to be as helpful as possible… Rooms were very outdated, extremely dusty/musty, beds very uncomfortable, Wi-Fi didn’t work half the time & AC was broken with inability to be fixed. The room also smelled terribly of a nursing home which did not dissipate at all with our windows open for two days.

21/10/2025: Such a great spot! I was visiting Galway for a few days with my family, and we could not have picked a better location. All the staff were so kind. Henrique at reception in particular was incredibly helpful and very fun to converse with.

05/08/2026: Worst coffee and Almond Crossiant I've probably ever had. No taste from coffee and Almond Crossiant was just a normal Crossiant with jam and some flaked almonds on top I had driven away by the time I realised how bad it was otherwise I would have gone back for a refund

08/06/2026: Absolutely the best pork chop I’ve had in my life. I will never forget it—I closed my eyes for most bites so I could savor it. We asked for a recommendation for dessert and it was ridiculously amazing. The flavors were incredible. The chocolate was so rich it was plenty for four of us to split since we all were full from our incredible meals. Others in our party got a fish entree they loved and the sauce that it came in was so fantastic they used the extra bread to finish it off! 10/10 We will be back next year. 06/06/2026: We had a very odd experience here. We came during our honeymoon after several people recommended we visit while in Galway, but from the moment we arrived, the service felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. We arrived at 6:04 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation, and from the initial interaction with the host/server, we felt as though we were somehow in trouble. After reading other reviews, it seems that unfriendly service may not be an isolated issue. I’ve have never left a negative restaurant review before, but our experience warranted one. A couple seated next to us, who arrived after we did, received their meals significantly sooner than we did. In fact, they had already finished their mains and were ordering dessert before our entrees even arrived. I ordered the steak, which was served with a single slice of tomato on top. The couple next to us ordered the same dish, and theirs came with multiple slices of tomato as an accompaniment. I understand that presentation can vary, but the difference between one slice and several seemed unusually inconsistent. My wife ordered the scallops and received only three scallops. Photos online clearly show the same dish being served with noticeably more. I understand portion sizes can vary, but the difference was substantial enough to stand out. After our plates were cleared, we sat for approximately 10–15 minutes without anyone checking on us. Apparently, the server asked my wife about dessert while I was in the restroom, but when I returned, we waited another five minutes before I finally had to ask for the bill myself. Throughout the evening, we felt largely ignored. Looking back, I don’t believe anyone ever asked how our meals were. My family owns a restaurant, so I understand that service can suffer when staff are overwhelmed. That wasn’t the case here. The server walked past our table multiple times and never once acknowledged us or checked in. Out of habit from the United States, I still left a generous tip, but in hindsight I wish I hadn’t. We left feeling genuinely disappointed by the cold and dismissive service. It was certainly not the dining experience we had hoped for during our honeymoon in Galway.

12/08/2026: We came for lunch on August 10, 2026, and were warmly welcomed by a very friendly young woman. The dishes (a stew, a vegan dish, and two lamb and goat cheese burgers) were very generous, excellent, and very reasonably priced. The waitress was smiling and attentive. We will definitely return.

11/08/2026: A pleasant bar with an extensive range of interesting craft beers. Staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great. Would thoroughly recommend, and will visit again

09/08/2026: A fantastic experience at Cellar Bar! We ate very well; the dishes were excellent and generous. The atmosphere is really nice, and the whole team is welcoming and friendly. A great place to eat in Galway, I highly recommend it!
