The best restaurantsof irish in Galway

12/04/2026: I was pleasantly surprised. The food usually takes a little while, but it's worth it, and the service is very friendly. But if there's one downside, it's the door—wow! 😳 I sat almost at the entrance and I think I got up seven or eight times to close it because it wouldn't close automatically, and water and wind were getting in, which was quite uncomfortable. Opening and closing it is rather awkward and unintuitive; you practically have to slam it shut, and you hear that every five minutes. It's not pleasant.

07/04/2026: Definitely a must visit. Reserve a table if you're planning to be here on a public holiday or weekend as it can be difficult to get a table. Had a wonderful and amazing roast chicken and bangers and mash. Service was impressive and the ambience was wonderful!

04/03/2026: We called in for a couple of drinks before dinner. We loved the trad music. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was deadly. I'd love to have a place like this near home. It was a small but cosyy pub.

25/03/2026: We had an absolutely wonderful dinner for two at John Keogh’s Gastropub. The sirloin steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavour, the crème brûlée was beautifully done with the ideal caramelised top, and the Red Dot Jameson whiskey was the perfect finishing touch. The atmosphere was warm, cosy, and authentically Irish—exactly what you hope for in a true Irish pub experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Without a doubt, this is the best pub in all of Ireland. Highly recommended!

25/03/2026: If you’re looking for a true Irish pub experience, look no further. The atmosphere at John Keogh’s is so cozy and the people are wonderfully welcoming. We had the oysters and the sirloin steak—both were 10/10. Easily one of the best meals we’ve had in the city. Highly recommended!

24/03/2026: I went there on St. Patrick's Day; the concerts were back-to-back in an incredible atmosphere. The pub has three floors with an open mezzanine from top to bottom.

20/03/2026: The staff weren't very attentive. It's a nice place on Galway's busiest street. The interior is very large. Apparently, there's live music in the evenings.

22/10/2025: Location was wonderful. the staff was very kind and tried to be as helpful as possible… Rooms were very outdated, extremely dusty/musty, beds very uncomfortable, Wi-Fi didn’t work half the time & AC was broken with inability to be fixed. The room also smelled terribly of a nursing home which did not dissipate at all with our windows open for two days.

21/10/2025: Such a great spot! I was visiting Galway for a few days with my family, and we could not have picked a better location. All the staff were so kind. Henrique at reception in particular was incredibly helpful and very fun to converse with.

02/04/2026: Was down for a work training day and stayed in the hotel. Great service from check in to the staff in breakfast this morning . Rooms were spotless and pool and gym facilities were really good. Great value for money

16/04/2026: Just got charged 8 euro for a bowl of vegetable soup!!!!!! Just ordinary, everyday vegetable soup! Probably the most expensive bowl of soup in Galway. Fortunately, I'm in job where I can encourage visitors to Galway not to visit this establishment. Shameful and shameless robbery.

30/03/2026: Nice place with two lovely cabins for 4, with a view to the street. The cod was very juice and fresh. Soup of the day was vegetable with some cream... Caesar salad was great!

16/04/2026: Hand-cut, chunky, and seasoned perfectly. They were fluffy on the inside and had that golden crunch on the outside. Super fresh oysters with price on point!

07/02/2026: Always excellent. I have hadunch there three or four times over the past two months with my husband & son, often getting three different lunches from the menu and on all visits everyone was impressed and very happy with their lunch. They have a very large lunch menu daily.
