07/09/2026: Stayed at the Connacht Hotel as a couple and had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel is clean, well decorated and has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff at reception were particularly helpful and hospitable, which made the check-in experience really easy. We also had breakfast for €13.50, which I thought was great value. There was a lot of variety, including a lovely Full Irish breakfast as well as a great selection of cereals and granolas. The room itself was fairly standard and the bathroom had a slightly older style but very clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable and we both had a great night’s sleep. Overall, I’d definitely stay here again if I’m staying in Galway. Great value, friendly staff and a comfortable stay!

17/06/2026: (update): After I contacted the hotel, the management team helped resolve the issue. If you run into any booking issues, I’d recommend reaching out directly to the Guest Relations team. They seem to handle these problems much more efficiently. (original): Honestly, communicating with the reservation team by email was quite frustrating. They were polite, but it felt like they didn’t really understand my questions. For the same dates, the price they gave me by email was almost twice the price listed on their official booking website. I really don’t understand how that could happen. When I asked for an explanation, the answer was still very vague. I also asked a simple question about changing my stay dates, but the replies kept missing the point. It made the whole process much more confusing than it needed to be. I have kept all the email records, so this review is based on my actual communication with the reservation team. I hope the hotel can improve its staff training and make the reservation process clearer for guests.

24/09/2026: An incredible, unforgettable meal at Aniar! We chose Aniar to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it was exceptionally well spent. The food was outstanding from beginning to end. The chef is truly top-notch and extremely well regarded in Galway. We had even heard chefs from other Michelin-starred restaurants speak very highly of him, so we came in with high expectations,and the experience absolutely lived up to them. The highlight of the evening, beyond the incredible food, was when the chef personally invited us into the kitchen to take a photo with him. That was such an unexpected and thoughtful moment, especially on my husband’s birthday, and it made an already wonderful evening even more memorable. Exceptional food, a truly talented chef, and an experience we will remember for a long time. Aniar was the perfect choice for such a special celebration.

16/10/2026: I was pleasantly surprised by the extremely good fish tacos. You could tell it was fresh with the first bite. They also made excellent Espresso Martinis and the most delicious dessert. Large portions and very incredibly friendly and fun staff!

08/06/2026: Absolutely the best pork chop I’ve had in my life. I will never forget it—I closed my eyes for most bites so I could savor it. We asked for a recommendation for dessert and it was ridiculously amazing. The flavors were incredible. The chocolate was so rich it was plenty for four of us to split since we all were full from our incredible meals. Others in our party got a fish entree they loved and the sauce that it came in was so fantastic they used the extra bread to finish it off! 10/10 We will be back next year. 06/06/2026: We had a very odd experience here. We came during our honeymoon after several people recommended we visit while in Galway, but from the moment we arrived, the service felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. We arrived at 6:04 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation, and from the initial interaction with the host/server, we felt as though we were somehow in trouble. After reading other reviews, it seems that unfriendly service may not be an isolated issue. I’ve have never left a negative restaurant review before, but our experience warranted one. A couple seated next to us, who arrived after we did, received their meals significantly sooner than we did. In fact, they had already finished their mains and were ordering dessert before our entrees even arrived. I ordered the steak, which was served with a single slice of tomato on top. The couple next to us ordered the same dish, and theirs came with multiple slices of tomato as an accompaniment. I understand that presentation can vary, but the difference between one slice and several seemed unusually inconsistent. My wife ordered the scallops and received only three scallops. Photos online clearly show the same dish being served with noticeably more. I understand portion sizes can vary, but the difference was substantial enough to stand out. After our plates were cleared, we sat for approximately 10–15 minutes without anyone checking on us. Apparently, the server asked my wife about dessert while I was in the restroom, but when I returned, we waited another five minutes before I finally had to ask for the bill myself. Throughout the evening, we felt largely ignored. Looking back, I don’t believe anyone ever asked how our meals were. My family owns a restaurant, so I understand that service can suffer when staff are overwhelmed. That wasn’t the case here. The server walked past our table multiple times and never once acknowledged us or checked in. Out of habit from the United States, I still left a generous tip, but in hindsight I wish I hadn’t. We left feeling genuinely disappointed by the cold and dismissive service. It was certainly not the dining experience we had hoped for during our honeymoon in Galway.

26/09/2026: People kept looking at my cousin like she had 5 heads when she said she didnt drink alcohol, She is pregnant and didnt need the judgement! Staff were a bit rude. Cold chicken ciabatta- edible but nothing to write home about. Will not be returning, if you work here- do better. " give me a super macs chicken wrap over that ciabatta any day- it was 17.50🤣"

16/10/2026: The only good thing: the live music is excellent. However, the staff is very unfriendly and the very expensive drinks we ordered were watered down. When we asked the staff about it, they were rude and snappy. Not recommended.

11/10/2026: I got served by the most aura guy in this pub, he so that much charming that all atmosphere is holding on him, drinks made by him is masterpiece of another world…

13/10/2026: Have been here at the afternoon hours and got somewhat lucky with our table as the place was already quite packed. The food was delicious. Servicing was a bit slow but understandably as lots of guests had to be served. The live music was very great.

10/10/2026: Food was pretty okay. The seafood chowder was really good, but the fries were a bit off.

24/09/2026: Food was standard and pricey. but the beer is top notch a great collection. There midweek busy with but really no atmosphere. I'd recommend cause of the beer selection

18/09/2026: I personally really enjoyed it and discovered the Ostara Stout, but that wasn't all! The bar is very large with a big room at the back. Gamers gather there and create a lively atmosphere. We enjoyed our dinner in a warm and peaceful setting.

26/09/2026: Amazing place! If you want to experience a pub with live entertainment, this is the place for you. Great atmosphere, very friendly people, and reasonable prices. A must-visit during your stay in Galway.

26/09/2026: We ate in the Galway Girl restaurant in the cellar, the main floor being the pub area, which was noisy and rather crowded. Reservations are recommended. The fish and chips were decent, but the cottage pie and roast chicken exceeded expectations.
