21/07/2025: A good local pub with a decent selection on the menu and good food. The beer and liquor selection is better than most.
21/07/2025: Good service was quick despite the packed pub

Seabank Bistro

13/07/2025: Disgraceful “service”, I wanted to buy food but takeaway they said no they don’t do takeaway. That’s fine, after that I said can I just use the bathroom please they said I cannot it’s only for customers. I said that’s fine, I can buy something, a drink or whatever and they said NO!! They can’t only for customers with food. What world do you live in??? Id never return even to have food in a place like this!! The first waiter giving me looks up and down just because I wasn’t probably dressed appropriately for him, in regular shorts and t shirt coming from the beach!!! Avoid, because if there’s no humility in such a place, the food really doesn’t matter! Disgusting behaviour and you should be ashamed of yourself. Literally didn’t want to sell me any drink because I was not going to have any food. Get over yourselves! Ew!!!
08/07/2025: Go for the Seafood. But.......everything on the menu is great.

Old Street
Malahide
16/07/2025: We were genuinely excited to celebrate a birthday at Old Street Malahide, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, the tone was set by the host, Sean, whose attitude was unexpectedly dismissive and unwelcoming. A proper meet-and-greet should make guests feel comfortable and appreciated — sadly, that was not the case.
We had requested a cosy table on the second floor for the celebration. Sean informed us, without much courtesy, that the upstairs area was closed as it wasn’t the weekend. This was quite surprising, as there was no mention of such a restriction on the website. The restaurant was not particularly busy, which made it seem as though the staff simply didn’t want to maintain the upstairs space. This marked the first of several uncomfortable interactions with Sean, who remained cold and unsmiling throughout.
Next, we were taken to a room on the ground floor and offered a table by the window, where the sun was glaring directly into our eyes - clearly not a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. We kindly asked to be seated at another available table in the shade. There was a nearby table that was neither marked as reserved nor occupied. However, without any apology or flexibility, Sean told us, “Unfortunately, this table is for five people, and I can’t seat you there.” It felt more like we were being managed as a problem than welcomed as paying guests.
We were then led to another section of the restaurant, which was extremely noisy, with guests having to raise their voices just to hold a conversation. At that point, the overall lack of warmth and hospitality had soured the occasion, and we decided to leave in different restaurant. As we walked out, we noticed that the table we had asked for- the one “for five”- remained empty.
Ultimately, due to Sean’s unprofessionalism and lack of basic courtesy, the restaurant lost four potential customers who came to celebrate a special occasion and were more than willing to enjoy a full dining experience. A little kindness and flexibility could have made all the difference.
Overall, the service felt rushed and impersonal, and the hospitality did not reflect the standard one would expect from a restaurant with such a reputation. It’s unfortunate when a poor first impression defines an entire experience.
I truly hope the management takes this feedback seriously. The restaurant certainly has potential - but that can only be fulfilled when guests are welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and respect.
16/07/2025: Unpleasant Greeting Experience at Old Street Malahide
Unfortunately, our visit to Old Street Malahide was overshadowed by a very poor first impression, largely due to the attitude of the host, Sean. From the moment we arrived, he was cold, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic hospitality. A greeting sets the tone for the entire dining experience, and in our case, it did -just not in the way we had hoped.
Sean made no effort to be welcoming or accommodating. His tone was abrupt, there was no smile, no warmth, and no sense that we were valued as guests. Reasonable requests were met with rigid, unhelpful responses, and it felt as though he was doing the bare minimum to get us seated - or worse, actively discouraging us from staying.
It’s a shame because the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and a good reputation, but when the first person you meet makes you feel unwelcome, it taints the entire experience.

The Greenery

13/07/2025: Popped in for an early dinner with my sister after a long day at the beach. Reservation was at 5.30. We arrived at 5.00 just as the restaurant opened. The host was lovely and seated us early outside as we requested on the online reservation notes. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Food was very tasty. Cocktails stole the show with great value for money. Would 100 percent recommend and can’t wait to return.
09/07/2025: Stopped in for lunch/brunch on a rainy Saturday. Food was delicious. I can't remember the price but I thought the full Irish was good value and a perfect size for me. Proper thick maple syrup with the pancakes too. It gets busy around lunch time so you might need to wait.

28/06/2025: delicious food. Everything we had was tasty and delicious. The desserts were amazing too.
26/05/2025: Myself and my wife had the best brunch we’ve ever had. Gorgeous coffee, super fresh orange juice. The eggs on our Benedict and Royale were spot on. The seasoning on everything was spot on as well. 5 stars to the chefs. In a city of mediocre brunch places this restaurant shows how it should be done.
Can’t wait to come back to eat everything else

Bon Appetit

01/07/2025: Went before a gig. Service was a little crazy due to the crowd in before the gig.
Good value though
01/07/2025: Staff are lovely here. The food was ok. The burrata and croquettes were very tasty. For the mains we had the sea bass tempura which is fish and chips with mushy peas which was fine. The batter wasn’t very light and the peas were dry. The chips were delicious although the last third were too salty to eat. My friend had the vegetarian tart. The pastry was too hard to cut and the filling was too salty for her. She has high blood pressure and would have liked a choice about the amount of salt on her food. In this day and age I think that’s expected.
We have our feedback which was taken very graciously.
We also noticed that the dado rail and lamp next to us were thick in dust.
We wouldn’t go back even though the staff are great.
