The best restaurants in Laois

16/03/2024: Edit: I have been living here for a month now. While the main barista does a great job, other staff don't seem to be qualified. The espresso is an over-extracted, bitter mess that masks the coffee beans’ lovely flavour profile. At this stage I cannot possibly recommend the espresso to coffee enthusiasts. Now that I've received my espresso machine, I will simply be purchasing coffee beans from here. The micro-foam is uneven, the cappuccinos and mochas never have a consistent weight. The mochas, when made by the main barista have an adequate cocoa flavour, while other times it ends up tasting like drip coffee mixed with a Cadbury knock-off. Original review, bar the coffee part: The cream on the cinnamon swirl is to die for. The people in the bakery are the loveliest, from the staff and owner to the customers themselves. It's the kind of business that makes us glad we moved to Abbeyleix.

18/03/2024: The food was very good but the waitress service was terrible. he gave us the wrong order and had a very bad attitude. It's a shame because the place is very nice but I'd rather pay more elsewhere and receive good customer service

14/03/2024: I debated whether to give 5 stars to any restaurant but I actually couldn't fault anything about Jeremiah's .... food was tasty, service was friendly and fast and I'd definitely go back. While they have reduced the menu since my last visit ( this seems to be a regular occurrence in many restaurants and takeaway places too), there was still something for everyone. I ended up just ordering 2 starters for my main meal, the hot wings - tasty - and the bruschetta, absolutely delicious, was tempted to order another one🥰 We ordered the brownie for dessert...and a couple of spoons 😎. The food arrived quickly and we were put under no pressure to vacate the table. The staff were lovely, chatty, friendly, without being overbearing. So, if it's just a quiet drink or a meal you're after, head to Jeremiah's, you'll be glad you did. P.S. PLEASE BRING BACK THE CARBONARA 🥰.

02/02/2024: Had lunch and a few pints with a friend. The Guinness was very good and enjoyable. The beef stew was excellent. Tracy looked after us ensuring everything was perfect. The fires made for a cozy atmosphere. I can recommend.

10/12/2023: Had lunch here today with friends. Food was beautiful and great variety on menu. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Fantastic value for money. Would highly recommend Ashbrook Arms Town House. Will certainly be making another trip.

01/04/2024: I ordered through the app .I got the kebab which actually is probably the best in portalington. It tastes quite fresh . Also got the Taco cheese chips which were okay . The mince tasted a little bit watery ,still would choose supermacs ones over this one but it was a good and was a large portion . The battered sausage was a let down . I think there was 5% batter and 95% sausage ,honestly tasted like normal shop sausage too but won't complain for the price. The milkshake is a must have though . Definitely recommend the milkshakes . Tastes lovely,I got the Nutella one and it tasted lovely . The wait time said it would be 15 minutes but actually was about 30 minutes . Didn't try the pizza but will next time

21/02/2024: A nice cafe embedded in a store with furniture and home decor gadgets. It's usually crowded, you can't even get in during lunch and you have to wait in line. The cafe offers good coffee, not too sour, which suggests beans from the higher parts of the mountains. You can eat salty and sweet. Nice service, and if someone feels like it, they can buy, for example, a lamp that is a decoration with a price attached.

02/04/2024: Great Restaurant serving authentic Indian cuisine. The waitresses and waiter who seemed like he owned the restaurant were absolutely lovely and delivered great service. Our 2nd time back yesterday and we will be back again. Got the Chicken Bhalti and tikka masala both were very good.

30/03/2024: Absolutely amazing food and service. The food here was really good quality you can tell they use quality produce. The starters and mains were delicious and great portion size. We were stuffed. Service from the staff is 10/10. The owner was also around and greeted us on arrival. You can tell the owners care about their customers and the experience given. Can not recommend enough. Will definitely be returning.

26/03/2024: We love Akayu. I have been to many sushi restaurants around the world and here is on par with the best. Excellent Sushi, service always great. Both eat in & takeaway is always consistent. There are some who mention the sushi is expensive. That is incorrect. If you have the mindset that cheaper is better, then you shouldn’t be eating sushi.
