The best restaurants in Carrick-on-shannon

23/04/2025: Stopped in here for a few drinks with family whilst in the area. The barmaid was very friendly and attentive. The pub has a great outdoor area with plenty of seating and another bar at the back of the area. Definitely worth a visit if with a group of friends.

19/04/2025: Got manhadked and thrown out for no reason, bouncers just taking the piss

04/06/2025: Lovely little spot although I wouldn't go here if you wanted food. The coffee is lovely and they also have a nice selection of ice-cream, pastries & treats.

22/04/2025: Myself & my good friend Malachy Costello met here on Saturday 19th April 2025. The coffee as always was Exceptional & Expertly Made by Joanna & the cakes were delicious. This is always my first port of call for a coffee when I am in Carrick-On-Shannon. Joanna who has worked there for 9yrs provides an Exceptional Service & creates a Unique Atmosphere.

08/06/2025: The food was good, but expensive, staff were lovely and friendly. The downside was how long it took to clear tables after previous customers, A very odd system for table allocation, you walk in see if there is a table free and then you place a seat reserved sign on the table , This is well and good , however on our visit , when we placed the sign we were waiting at least 10mins for the table to be cleared , we had actually gone to the counter and ordered and walked back to the table , it still had to be cleared. This and the prices would deter me from returning unfortunately.

02/06/2025: Place was good some time ago. Now meat looks like it's refried frozen burgers and grey chicken. Not recommended.

18/05/2025: Murtaghs offered our group of 20 an immersive experience called The Cube. Please don’t be lured into this. It was a joke. Few handmade wooden boxes and tennis balls. Extracted €30 from us for the pleasure. Young lad running it was great and did everything he could with what he was given.

20/04/2025: Absolutely the best pizza I have ever tried. Oh my goodness!!! Amazing! The lady who works there makes the best pizza in Ireland!

01/06/2025: Carrick on Shanon is a pub landmark in a very nice town, festivities at all times, we arrived there by chance and stayed.....if you are passing through, stop by, cosmopolitan and good-natured....you will be very well received there

27/05/2025: Used to be great. I’ve had multiple sit ins and takeaways from here. Last time I sat in on Mother’s Day our table was propped up with dirty napkins, there was a dirty earring down beside the seat and the server was spraying chemical sprays into the air right beside my food and drink without even a window open. I order veggie dishes, and unfortunately I now pay the same price as a meat eater for afew frozen peas swimming in sauce. There used to be lots of vegetables now you’d be lucky to get a single piece of cauliflower. I’ve tried to relove here but I’m sorry - the prices have all gone up loads and I should not have to pay the same as my partner eating a whole sizzling plate of lamb, chicken and beef when I get afew defrosted peas. We should be rewarding customers for choosing cheaper ingredients, not expecting them to fill the gap for the cost of meat now. It’s a pity as I really loved here. I’d highly advise reviewing the rations for the vegetable dishes and asking staff not to spray chemicals around people eating or at all during table service due to the health implications. The tables need updating and should not be propped up with napkins and customers shoved into a tiny corner with no room to move. Your phone should also be silenced as it rings endlessly sometimes when trying to enjoy a meal. We had this problem alongside families allowing kids to play cartoons on loud iPads whilst other people are also trying to enjoy their experience. Sorry spice India, it’s time to relook at some crucial things.
