14/01/2025: Been coming here yearly since 2021 and it’s always a pleasure. Very cozy place with a wide array of pastries and coffee/tea beverages. Anything you want really. Despite what some reviewers have said, the staff here is friendly. They may come across as rude to some, but let’s understand that they are serving the public for over 10 hrs a day. It takes a toll on anyone and there is only so much energy you can put out there as a service industry worker. They were all cordial and I had no issues with that. I was fortunate to sit next to the cafe cat that frequented the place since its inception. The most chill cat that ever lived. Unfortunately she passed last fall, but lived a good life! I’m happy she had a peaceful environment around here till she moved on. That being said, I highly recommend this place for a nice morning start.

30/12/2024: Really lovely atmosphere. My spot on as I was wandering in the neighborhood. They really have a secret garden in the back of the store. The drink was okay but the staffs were very nice.

05/01/2025: I found a hair in my plate. The waitress changed it for another one, she was lovely. Once we were going to pay, they asked me if I wanted to pay separately or together. I said separately and they charged me all, another mistake, but it was ok. My complaint is for the blonde women (older staff) was very rude to us, with 0 customer service. I saw her attending the guys next to my table and she was horrible to them! I've been there good few times and I brought friends and family, but today was the last time. Never again. Now I can understand why there's always new staff. Horrible experience and very disappointing.

02/01/2025: Got a mocha here for the first time today. It was made with some pre made coffee, and chocolate tube sauce. I knew as soon as I saw him squirting the sauce in that it was going to be poor and I was right. Would not return here for a mocha ever again. Suggestion to owner - make your coffee fresh if you're charging €4.20, and use Cadburys powder. Mocha binned 3/4 full. Can't speak to the food hence 3 stars.

05/11/2024: We spent 3 days in Galway and this cafe was the best one we went to, as the staff were extremely friendly, whom made such an effort to entertain their customers over the Halloween Festival (as you can see they were all dressed up in cool costumes) and the food and drinks were fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Thank you for the experience, regards the two Aussie's Shaz & Daz PS the smoothies are yummy 😋

29/12/2024: Busy spot beside Salt Hill Strand, located next to the Aquarium. Busy spot so may need to wait for a table at peak times, prompt service, street parking nearby, good quality food and drinks

10/12/2024: Tall man seated us and took our order, and we proceeded to wait nearly 40 minutes without even our coffees. It was busy so we assumed we may be far back in the queue until we saw everyone’s food arriving around us. When I asked the man if our order was coming, he offered to take our order again? And when I confirmed that he had forgotten to put our order through at all, he didn’t apologise! Was so excited to have a nice drink and meal at this cafe but was disappointed by the lack of service.

06/12/2024: I enjoyed a slice of raspberry pistachio tart for €3.50 and an Americano for €2.80 at Gourmet Tart Co. in Salthill. The taste of the cake was really convincing - fresh, balanced sweetness, and with a pleasant pistachio note. The coffee was also aromatic and offered a solid complement to the cake. On a positive note, there is plenty of seating and the toilets were clean and in good condition. Unfortunately, the experience is marred by a few aspects. The cleanliness of the tables leaves something to be desired as they are usually dirty. The disposable cutlery and cardboard plates used look cheap and take away a lot of the ambience of the café. The lack of WiFi is also a clear negative point these days. All in all, the price-performance ratio is okay, but the lack of attention to detail and the low appreciation from guests in terms of facilities and cleanliness mean that I only give it 3 out of 5 stars. Gourmet Tart Co. could do a lot more with its potential with small improvements.
