We chose it as the venue for our Wedding & it truly exceeded every expectation! All of the staff went above & beyond to make our day perfect, especially Benny,Becky,Sarah,Alan, Bridget & Lee.Every detail was handled with professionalism,warmth & genuine care which allowed us to relax & enjoy every moment with our family & friends.The hotel & gardens for our ceremony were stunning, the food outstanding and the service was flawless from start to finish. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful the hotel was,how delicious the meal was & how welcoming everyone made them feel. We couldnt have asked for a more magical setting to celebrate our special day. A huge thank you to the entire team and Cait & James for making our Wedding Day so unforgettable. 15/06/2026: Our group of 17 friends, travelling from different counties, chose The Step House in Borris, Co. Carlow as our meeting point for a night away together, and what a fantastic choice it turned out to be. From the moment we arrived, everything was first-class. We enjoyed a light lunch in the bar before taking a fascinating guided tour of Borris House, located directly opposite the hotel. The tour lasted around two hours and provided a wonderful insight into the rich history of the area. Afterwards, we spent some time exploring the charming village before returning to the hotel to relax and prepare for the evening. Dinner in the main restaurant was booked for 7pm, and it exceeded all expectations. The menu was excellent, the food was beautifully presented, and every dish was cooked to perfection. The staff were attentive, friendly, and professional throughout, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Following dinner, we enjoyed a nightcap in the bar before retiring to our rooms. The accommodation was comfortable, spotless, and ensured a great night's sleep. Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive. Afterwards, we took a lovely walk through the village to the viaduct, enjoying the beautiful surroundings before returning to the hotel for tea, coffee, and a final catch-up. Before headinghome, we all agreed that this would not be our last visit. In fact, we are already planning a return trip later in the year for a festive Christmas getaway. The Step House offers exceptional hospitality, outstanding food, comfortable accommodation, and a wonderful location. We couldn't recommend it highly enough and are already looking forward to our next stay.

13/08/2026: First night in Ireland and this pub made for a great evening. The food was really great: the burgers, the vol-au-vents, the kids' meals were classic but very good. Excellent value for money and friendly staff. I recommend it.

There’s always a great buzz in the place, made even better by the live music, which creates such an enjoyable and relaxed vibe. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet drink or heading out for a lively evening, The Thatch never disappoints. A true gem of a pub with heart, character, and a fantastic atmosphere. 06/01/2026: One of the best if not THE best bar in Carlow/Laois. Staff are always pleasant, friendly and efficient. Always a good atmosphere no matter what time or day of the week. Decent price for an always fantastic pint, not one of your overpriced rip off pubs we see so much of now. Very clean and extremely well run establishment.

01/06/2026: I was with a group who had the great pleasure to be given a tour of the yards, horses facilities and history by Patrick Mullins, a pure gent who took great pride in showing us around and answering all our questions, many thanks to Niamh and Patrick for a great day.

On another note I left my purse behind and they went above and beyond to try to find me to return it, so thanks for that! It had my house and car keys in it too! Thank you.. 😊

01/09/2026: Stopped into Namo today for the first time and ordered a steak and cheese burrito, having never had a burrito I have to say it was absolutely delicious, staff were super friendly. I will be returning thank you !!

31/08/2026: Absolutely delicious food. Huge bag of chips and the nicest staff ever. Proper chips not frozen. Burgers were also gorgeous and very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of food.
