Rachel’s Garden Café – A Hidden Oasis in the Heart of Carlow
If you're anywhere near Leighlinbridge, do yourself a favour and stop into Rachel’s Garden Café at the Arboretum — it’s an absolute gem. The coffee is top-notch, the staff are warm, friendly, and genuinely a pleasure to deal with, and the whole atmosphere is just pure calm.
What really sets this place apart is the location. Surrounded by the beautifully maintained Arboretum gardens, you can sip your coffee while sitting in the sun, tucked into one of the many peaceful spots that make this place feel like a retreat from the world. It’s the perfect balance of a quality café and a stunning garden experience.
An outstanding spot for a coffee, a stroll, and a bit of serenity. Highly recommended.

01/04/2025: We stayed in the two bed apartment lovely and spacious 5 of us fitted nicely with space for more , kitchen had everything needed even airfryer which I've never seen in any place I stayed before was handy. My gang were going to visual to listen to marty mone, I stayed there watched netflix which is already connected to the tv. Can't go wrong .

09/05/2025: Can't speak to the hotel but the food used to be great and now can be quite terrible. Ordered noddle soup and it looked listless, reminded me of a poor quality broth desperately waiting on the ingredients. My 8 year could eat it.
15/04/2025: Real poor attitude from the waitress. Not welcoming at all , snappy. Not pleased that we only ordered drinks with no food. At 4pm.....

08/03/2025: The 3 of us visited Billy’s today on a trip home from Laois , from the minute we stepped in we recieved a warm welcome from the waitress who was extremely helpful ,we didn’t get a chance to take any photos we got stuck in :), if you love satay /curry sauce this is 100 % the best !

Possibly easier and less confusing to order with correct signage and more functional digital ordering stations.
The stations (only one of 2 working) didn't seem to allow ordering pizza, queued for one ans had to queue again to order a pizza.
Staff member Edison took our order and was extremely pleasant and helpful despite how busy the restaurant was.
He rembered we had ordered when our order was ready and gave us our food with a smile, our food was perfect, we had ordered a pizza with special toppings and our order was perfect. Thanks Edison!
Maybe could do with more seating, upstairs was locked as it was booked, it's a busy location.
22/03/2025: If I cud give zero stars I wud. Has to be the worst drive thru in the country. Food is never ready. Most of the time made to park up and wait. And then they still don't get the order right. 90% of the time there's something missing from the order. Today a chicken breast missing but charged for it. I've even been given someone else's order that I had to return cause they had given mine to someone else. Absolute joke. Today was the last straw. Will never get food from there again

12/03/2025: Got a takeaway this evening via JustEat. The food was so nice. We ordered chicken bhuna and the chicken was so tender. This have become my favourite take out in Carlow Town.
17/02/2025: We decided to visit Shapla for my mom's birthday. My mom isn't easily impressed by food, but this really wowed her. We we're very satisfied with service their staff is very friendly, welcoming, and warm. As a person with a gluten allergy, they served us a delicious gluten-free meal. The place was very clean and tidy. Shapla has been really transformed. The best Indian restaurant in town. highly recommend!

12/05/2025: Today I went in to ewings with my girlfriend and my brother, when we went in the bartender mentioned there was a smell of weed from outside , he automatically assumed it was us when we came in , he was very ignorant about it when we said to him we can prove it wasn’t us he didn’t want to hear about it, I would’ve loved to show him how we were innocent but he decided to make a show of us infront of all other customers when we did not do a thing wrong. He was also quick to assume it was the men smoking instead of the woman. We got kicked out for absolutely no reason at all and judged and embarrassed. Don’t recommend this pub to anyone because if there is a smell outside you will automatically be accused.

20/04/2025: A very friendly atmosphere and equally great pizza! Went after the 10k during the Isle of Man Easter Running Festival and was pleasantly surprised. Would highly recommend!!!!
18/04/2025: Was running the 10k at the IoM running festival and rewarded ourselves with a delicious pizza! Service was fabulous and despite the busy evening got told it would be 30mins for takeaway, much to our delight they were ready in 20!! Lovely staff, yummy pizza and an overall excellent vibe, would recommend to anyone!
