18/09/2025: Great experience. Matty was great and welcoming. He recommended a great local restaurant to eat dinner. Nice kitchen, beautiful new tiled bathroom with shower. The only minor issue was the bed footboard stuck out (we keep running into the corners).

27/12/2025: Made an order for fish and chips collection at 10.15pm. Discovered Mario's has gone from 4.5 rating to 1. The chips were poor and the fish was for the bin. A complete change with staff members greetings also. Red card I'm afraid. 👎

31/10/2025: My order included food for multiple people, and from what I can tell, other than drinks not being included in the child meals, nobody else had any complaints. My own food however, was simply disgusting. I got the cheesy fries with a drink (I forget whether it was supposed to be Coke or Pepsi). Firstly, the fries were cold, absolutely soaked in a genuinely sickening amount of mayonnaise, and the small amount of cheese on top was not just sad, but had no hope of ever melting. Secondly, the drink was just simply disgusting. As mentioned already, I’m not even sure what it was supposed to be, but all I got was a gassy, brown, sparkling water that had clearly been watered down as well. A pathetic and horrible waste of money.

15/03/2026: Worker with long blonde hair was very unhygenic while preparing food. I seen him once with his finger in his nose and then wiping it into his shirt. He also appeared very rude giving customers dirty looks and what liked him talking bad about customers to other employees. I told him to cheer up abit and his expression immediatly changed and told me to go away. I did not eat my food as what I witnessed made me feel sick which resulted me having to go buy food from the food place beside.

12/04/2026: We didn’t stay at the hotel, only dined in the restaurant. Overall, the food was quite good—typical of Irish restaurants. The steak was excellent and the staff were very friendly. There was a mistake with our order, though, and the pizza arrived much later. They apologized a lot for it, which we appreciated, and remained very kind throughout. The wine wasn’t great and was quite expensive, but the steak was fantastic.

29/03/2026: We ordered the new Pickle Burger specifically to try the advertised crispy freeze dried cucumbers. However, the burger only had two small regular pickle slices, and there were no cucumbers in the fries at all. We were not informed about this when ordering. We understand they might have run out, but it should have been communicated instead of serving something that does not match the menu. Very disappointed, as we were really looking forward to trying the new item. The experience was ruined.

07/02/2026: Best chips in bagenlstown. If you like chips with the occasional soft one, and not a bag of hard chips, this is your place. Staff are on the ball. Pre order before you arrive is the best way to get in and out fast. Take out only

26/10/2025: Had my son's 21st birthday in the barracks we would highly recommend the staff were absolutely brilliant couldn't ask for better had a great nite.

18/08/2025: We recently celebrated my twin daughters’ 18th at The Barracks, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible effort of Joanne Aaron and their team. As I wasn’t able to be there, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, to arranging balloons, bringing out the cake and candles, and making the girls feel so special and welcomed. A big thank you also to the DJ for the birthday announcements through out the night which added such a lovely touch to the night. Joanne and her team truly went the extra mile, and thanks to them, my daughters had an unforgettable celebration. Thank you so much to everyone at The Barracks, you made it a truly special night that we’ll always remember!

08/04/2026: I turned up her on spec last Tuesday @ 9:00pm after a stressful trip from the UK via Rosslare heading to Achill. The reception staff were brilliant, helpful, kind relaxed and friendly and . I had missed dinner but was made a lovely substantial roast chicken salad sandwich free of charge, which I had with a good pint of Guinness in the bar, they even gave me a discount on the room, rather than stinging me. The bedroom was very clean and the bed was very comfortable and quiet even though not far from the town centre. Breakfast was great well cooked and served on a hot plate! Yes the hotel is a bit dated but its well maintained and the staff are great and its very clean. I will book to stay there again and and I would like to say a big thanks to all the staff for making me so welcome.
