The best restaurants in Carlow

25/08/2025: Absolutely gorgeous little cafe, well run and very welcoming. The food is fab. Ill definitely be back for more.

17/08/2025: Driving from Dublin down to Waterford, I really needed a bite to eat and some good espresso . Stopped here, based on reviews. They don't lie . Wonderful service, cute coffee shop with plenty of seating. Excellent latte , with fresh out of the oven scone. It could not be more perfect! Highly recommend.

25/10/2025: Visited Sweet Baking Mama on a Saturday late morning for breakfast with a companion who recommended it after a visit some time ago. It was not our 1st choice for breakfast in Carlow but our favourite place had stopped serving breakfast at 11.30 so we came to visit. I was impressed by the options on offer for breakfast. I chose the Waterford blaa filled with egg bacon and sausage. My companion chose an omelette with one filling. The blaa came in two small portions each filled with layers of sausage, fried egg and bacon and looked perfect from the outside. I was very excited by this excellent presentation of breakfast and started to eat the blaa by picking it up and biting into it. I immediately suspected something was wrong! I examined the contents of the blaa. The bacon and sausage were cooked to perfection. Bravo Chef! Unfortunately the fried egg was well below acceptable standard. The yoke of the egg was cooked solid and fell out of the egg when I picked it up on a fork. The white of the egg was burned to a crisp on the bottom. The humble egg deserves more respect in the cooking process than it got by the Chef/Cook on my visit. I would not recommend Sweet Baking Mama for the quality of their fried eggs and will not visit again for fried egg.

23/10/2025: Great people there at that shop,I wanted to surprise someone with a cake and i gave them very very late notice and they still made it happen for me delivered and all on time , customer service brilliant 👌

26/08/2025: I was on holiday with the family I'm an italian racegoer and I' m interested in every aspect of horse racing: breeding, training etc I was there without advice no email I simply ask if was possibile to see something, they gave me the chance to visit all the stable. Thanks you so much, was unbelievable to see so many champion Galopin des Champs, Lossiemouth, Energumene, Absurde,Ethical Diamonds and many many others What a powerfull stable! I Also had the privilege to talk with Willie Mullins a Genius in training and a real gentleman Thanks you so much to all the staff I'll never forget

31/07/2025: A small, cozy space and fragrant with a fantastic coffee aroma - this is the coffee house, Tea & Coffee world. We have been enjoying coffee from this shop for many years, and we met the owner Saulius face to face for the first time. We both tasted the coffee and had a nice chat. Beautiful environment and really high-level service. What if coffee is not a communication link these days❤️☕ Sincerely grateful for the great time and we wish you great success in the future!! 07/07/2025: On a day trip to Carlow Town, we found this little place. So many coffees and teas to choose from - we picked Hibiscus Tea and had some pistachio biscuit cake and a brownie, too! The place had a lovely ambience - elegant and sophisticated yet old world. The tea was wonderful and the cakes were perfect - small and dainty portions but melt in the mouth delicious. Great music in the background added to the atmosphere. A lovely experience overall!

18/09/2025: Great experience. Matty was great and welcoming. He recommended a great local restaurant to eat dinner. Nice kitchen, beautiful new tiled bathroom with shower. The only minor issue was the bed footboard stuck out (we keep running into the corners).

28/08/2025: On our trip to Ireland, although we wandered in by chance, the owner greeted us warmly and treated us with great kindness, just as I saw him serving his regular customers. We were served a hearty, tasty meal at a very good price without having to wait too long.

13/07/2025: Food good. Service adequate. I ordered fried chicken with veg and potatoes. Looked great but plate garnished/decorated ordered with balsamic vinegar , terrible combination pulse pureed cranberry . My garlic bread had soaked up the vinegar. I am literally allergic to vinegar it turns my stomach. I said to the waitress that those ingredients should have been stated on the menu. I would have asked for the meal without the garnish . My sister had ordered a different meal , not my favourite but we agreed to swop meals as the waitress appeared taken back that I raised an objection to the dressings. She did offer somewhat reluctantly to take it back . I did not want to cause a problem as the food looked good and my sister confirmed it was good 👍.

02/08/2025: Had a take away and although it took a little longer than estimated. It was definitely worth the wait. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted deliciously authentic! Definitely recommend Will eat in next time...

12/03/2025: Got a takeaway this evening via JustEat. The food was so nice. We ordered chicken bhuna and the chicken was so tender. This have become my favourite take out in Carlow Town.

22/08/2025: Food good. Sat on the balcony overlooking the bay - lovely spot. Customer service was ok - room for improvement; one of the staff said we couldn't sit where we wanted as it needed cleaning and they are too busy - there were two younger staff stood next to her, one of whom jumped at it and sorted the table out.

15/08/2025: The Pistacini was fab. But their signature one was unfortunately wet. All the toppings were landsliding off the dough when picking up the pieces, likely because of too many watery ingredients. I guess we expected more for £18.

04/10/2025: Nice place for drink and food But the staff management is the worse.. tables with nobody. Not place where to eat. Terrible management.

16/09/2025: Went to the Dinn Rí Bar and Terrace with my brother tonight and really enjoyed it. Danny the Bartender was also really friendly and helpful. Having worked in a busy Irish bar in the past I can say that he is one of the good ones.

20/08/2025: The place isn't maybe fancy but the food is delicious and in such a fantastic value compared to other places in Carlow. Their chicken satay is just a perfect combination of sweet and spicy taste and we've been ordering it for the last few years now. Not once we were disappointed. Highly recommended.
