The best restaurants in Carlow

08/07/2026: A great place to enjoy a proper meal after a long day. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff are friendly, and the service was quick. The portions are generous, the food is fresh, tasty, and cooked with care. I especially liked the traditional style of the dishes – comforting and full of flavor. The prices are fair for the quality you get. If you're in Carlow and looking for a good lunch or dinner, this is definitely worth a visit. I would happily come back again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

26/09/2026: Been waiting for my food for 2 hours Called half an hour after my food was meant to be here just told me it wasn’t even sent out yet And hung up the phone

12/09/2026: I’ve ordered a good bit from here, I normally don’t leave reviews but this needs one. I ordered the food at 19.53, the delivery came just came at 21.23. I live five minutes down the road. On top of it all the food is cold. It will be the last time I order from here. Absolutely ridiculous after spending over 30 euro on it.

19/09/2026: I've never liked the food in Dinn Rí, except the scones and coffee, but that's not why I go there. We were a bunch of ladies having an informal get together in the Library. We were able to hear each other, which is what we wanted. Clean, friendly staff, lots of room. Clean toilets. Cosy fire. This was a Tuesday evening 7-9:30pm. April 2025 update. Came to The Terrace with family for dinner around 4pm on a Wednesday. I wanted to show them how nice the Terrace is. Food took so long to get to us that I was getting embarrassed. Service at the bar was slow, also. One more mature server kindly put the heating on for my Dad. It looked amazing and generous when it did arrive. All 4 of us couldn't finish our different dinners - chicken wings/crispy duck/carbonara/chicken curry. They were overly sweet, too 'rich' to finish. The curry was straight up Sharwoods. Very unpleasant. The sourdough bread and the chips were lovely. Re: ACCESSIBILITY- I could enter from Potato Market into the back of Dinn Rí/The Terrace, which is at an incline, but no steps. Doors are wide enough. I've used the lift in Dinn Rí once before and shared it with kegs/bottle crates. They have wheelchair toilets which are clean and well maintained. Some areas are inaccessible due to steps, eg The Library. Verdict: as a group, we won't come back for food, other than drinks or tea/coffee. Pity, because it's a fantastic location.

16/08/2026: Positiv: Food (pizzas) was good and arrived fairly quick. The young Gentleman at the Bar was also really nice and helpful. -: The waitress didn't care at all, wait for service was really long and she was annoyed at all the questions, we are not locals so i don't know the outside displayed menu is not available. Also she said we get our leftovers, then just clocked out went home and we never got them. They are busy chating tho.

12/09/2026: What can I say some banging taco chips every time. Spot on place and friendly.

04/08/2026: I am disgusted with my food taking 30 minutes for chicken nuggets and chips?! Never going back

03/07/2026: I love it in there there so nice food is always so lovely places always so clean and the chicken meal is unreal love it thank you.

24/10/2026: Dissapointing. Ordered a chicken wrap and it had barely any filling in it. For the price of it, bit overpriced for barely any filling. Just saying

04/08/2026: I am disgusted with my food taking 30 minutes for chicken nuggets and chips?! Never going back

24/04/2026: Loving the stay over here. It feels like staying at your own home. I Specially love the facility of kitchen they provide for us to cook ourselves which makes it feel like a home.

06/04/2026: Me and my friends went down to the outdoor area of the pub. Heating didn’t work outside, there was giant gaping holes in the roof and it altogether looked like it was about to collapse. We decide to leave because one of my friends felt sick, suddenly we get stopped by a staff member who gets up all in my friends’ face and I quote. "It’s one thing to make me clean your vomit but another to steal my vape.” my friend is asthmatic, she wouldn’t have even touched it. (And my friend had informed one of the staff kindly about the bathroom, didn’t just leave it) and she continues "don’t lie to me, you were the last ones in there.” extremely unprofessional and accusatory without even talking it out.

05/10/2026: I’ve been ordering from here for 6 months my grandchild and I both got sick after a delivery a few weeks ago I contacted takeout and explained not asking for anything just what happened. In the next 3 occasions my food did not come hot & last week even the sauce in containers was like warm I phoned to explain again not asking for anything just explaining to be told as it was my 3rd to contact then in private to complain the chef said I can’t order from them again I honestly thought this was a joke it wasn’t and they refunded the money. How unprofessional and rude this is why I’m going public

08/06/2026: The 6 in 1 tray is a must try here , also nice staff , good service , great all round experience

09/10/2026: Great service, food was good value, tasted good and served quickly

07/10/2026: Very clean, staff extremely friendly. Brought the allergen folder to the table for me but manager was able to tell me what I could adjust and couldn't have for my dairy intolerance

03/07/2026: Great food and fantastic service. We stayed for hours and Patrick was super attentive. Cheesecake special was divine

19/05/2026: Fabulous food and fantastic service, highly recommend.

28/10/2026: Dog ignorant delivery drivers and they don't read order notes.

28/05/2026: Unreal food!! ,have to give credit where it is due prices are so cheap for the size of portions you get it’s unreal!! Definitely recommend 😍

20/03/2026: I've been to all the Chinese takeaways in Carlow and The Tiger is number one. New owner, better flavors. I recommend it.

29/09/2026: Good food but damn I'm waiting for the main course for the last 30 min. I know Indian food doesn't take that long to cook! Specially when we're the only customers sitting in! They'll forget about you if you don't remind them about the food you ordered!

27/09/2026: THIS WAS OUR 4TH TIME TO EAT FROM HEAR WE HAD MEAL 3 FOR TWO PEOPLE STARTERS MIXED MEATS LEG AND TYE CHICKEN SOME VEG CHICKEN BREAST LAMB IT WAS JUST OK NO SPICE AT ALL PLANE THEN CHICKEN BUNA AND LAMB BALTI RICE CHIPS DISGUSTING NO TASTE AT ALL OF IT JUST PLANE TO EAT WORST INDIAN MEAL WE EVER HAD GOT THERE AT 4.20 FOOD CAME OUT AT 5.10 SMOKE ALARMS KEEP GOING OFF WHEN FOOD DID COME IT WAS COLD HAD TO ASK SEVER TO REHEAT IT UP HE DID TOLD SERVER FOOD WAS MISSING SPICE OR SPICY HE SAID NEXT TIME HE LOOK AFTER US BUT THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TIME AT BLUE MOON TANDOORI IN TULLOW COUNTRY CARLOW OUT OF TEN WE WOULD GIVE IT A 2 VERY BAD FOOD 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮

12/07/2026: We don't have a good experience. This is a piece of pear crumble tart and we found out when we ate half of it that there is a mould on it. We handed it back to the service and they just said "oh my god" and that was it. No refund no apologies, nothing. Be careful with the food there we are not going to buy anything from there anymore.

01/07/2026: Our favourite coffee shop, the staff are amazing, Giant and the staff always welcome us with a smile and a chat, we love popping for a quick takeaway coffee or a sit down with the family for a slow down snack. It's such a lovely atmosphere, love meeting the regulars and saying hello xx
