The best restaurants in Carlow

15/10/2025: Not good at all. Fish was burnt to a crisp, pure black. Weird smell off the bun, donner meat was cold. Chips were OK had they been warm. Chicken tenders were burnt but probably the only good thing in the while order. Also forgot my sauce. Milkshake was good

10/10/2025: Recently I’ve been getting the vegetarian kebab from here once a week and usually really enjoy it, great flavour and value. Unfortunately, my last order contained meat, which was very disappointing as a vegetarian. Just a heads-up for others who order the veggie option. Sadly, I won’t be returning again.

08/03/2026: Best pizza I've had in Ireland and the people are so nice. Quantity is always really good too.

08/09/2025: Ordered 2 portion of Vermicilli noodles and a portion of egg fried rice, only got one delivered along with the egg fried rice witch was black and burned and then the second one came burned as well and every veg on it and piece of chicken was black and the smell of smoke and burned food was to much ! Never again, bin the food you get of them , prices are over the top and for what ? Nothing trust me.

11/08/2025: Waitress peeped the hangover, cordial on ice provided asap, sorted. Really set the tone for what was to come. Scran was just what Dr. Netwatch Cullen ordered; infallible, generous, delicious, well-cooked. Would frequent. Would recommend. 1bill / 5

14/10/2025: Went in for to get breakfast Saturday and there was no organisation in the place There was so many couples inside waiting including ourselves.. A couple of young girls were behind the counter and no one taking charge. It was ridiculous so we left to go somewhere else and got great breakfast and service Very disappointed Won't be there again

13/03/2026: Shaws and his team are the best I am from carlow been there many times but now moved to another county still craving for their Kebab its unbeatable with pricing quality and quantinty overall they make kebab with love. That can feel in taste. Thanks metrogrill you are amazing.

13/02/2026: A small 3 in 1 cost 6.50 but on website is €6? Think I was overcharged but eitherway this is actually pure greed for a tiny portion of chips rice and curry sauce actually obscene, its the same size as a portion of rice, other places do a full size one for way less! Literally how can you justify this price its literally chips rice and sauce, it has actually annoyed me so much that I dont want to return

05/02/2026: Great service. Lovely friendly staff. The food is amazing. No matter what you order. Delivery service is local men and women. So you’re not opening your door to a stranger. And they have all worked there for years - so they must be good employers too.

15/02/2026: Myself and my partner dined here on Valentines. We choose the set menu, most popular items on it were not available at 7.00pm, to an already limited menu. Only one menu on the table, when there was two of us, having to share a menu is a bit odd. If the à la carte menu was explained to us (no physical menu just a qr code) we would have ordered off this instead). Our waiter, a young blonde girl basically threw my partners rose on the table with no thought. It started the night on a bad note for us, this could have been such a highlight for many couples. She never ever table checked us. Only saw her when she dropped our food and she couldn’t turn around and walk away quick enough, we saw this happen at many other tables. We also had to ask for cutlery after our mains arrived. These mains sat on our table for 25 mins after we finished without being picked up, we left without our ordered dessert feeling deflated. We were never given water, we ordered wine which we never received but was still on our bill. We asked twice about the wine, ended up not having a drink all night. Staff were all bickering with each other, there’s a very obnoxious bartender who spent more time complaining in front of customers rather than making drinks, might explain why we never got our wine. We felt very sorry for the other bartender who was trying hard to do his job. Who I can only assume as the only supervisor/manager on duty, was running around clueless to most tables not knowing where the drinks or food was going, passing on any form of authority to staff in a lower position who shouldn’t be dealing with this as they were clearly already short staffed. She has no clue how to do her job, unfortunately. Staff should’ve been guided and told what to do, there was clearly no leadership. We went to the supervisor to pay and express our disappointment, who then passed us along to another young staff member (we think her name was grace, she was tall) and she was very nice and handled the situation very well and respectfully. This is something definitely above her role but she did a good job With it being Valentines night we expected a more intimate evening but it felt like management just wanted to make as much money as possible off a big crowd. We felt rushed and unwanted. Seeing so many people waiting for a table and so many people unhappy with the service really brought down the overall mood of everyone in the building. Only positive part of the evening was the food, which we barely could enjoy with everything else being such a disappointment & let down.
