The best restaurants in Carlow

14/06/2026: Been to many restaurants in Ireland both Asian and Chinese, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Asian food experience , literally the smallest portions I have ever seen here in Ireland as per the price itself, not even close to what we were expecting. Overall : Too expensive for its value and taste, a westernized rip off -Asian restaurant as it is.

09/05/2026: Said it was open online, called to the door rang the bell twice and no answer normally food is loveky shame the service isn’t the same 👍🏻

27/03/2026: It was nice to see this restaurant reopened and the food did not disappoint. There was a good choice of main meals and what I really liked was that my fish was cooked fresh. The service was very prompt and the staff were all lovely. Even a veg bowl for our baby wasn't a problem. The meals were lovely and the kids meals were good value as well.

06/06/2026: An affordable and friendly Italian family run chippy with tasty pizza, chips, and burgers. Irish sourced ingredients fresh to order. Will come back to try chicken and cod options!

17/03/2026: Order a delivery 40 minutes wait time no problem, I order a chipper box which came abit warm and a cod which the batter was burnt and the fish was cold, which we had to put the food in the microwave, besides that €10 for a cod which was nearly the size of two fish fingers put together €30 for the food and delivery. Definitely not worth it

04/04/2026: Food was disgusting, really disappointed as I have been here before and it was nice, but will never be going again. The bag was sopping with oil, and the battered sausages were wet to touch with oil and tasted rancid, completely inedible. Even the chips tasted bad, would like a refund this food had to go in the bin!

22/04/2026: APACHE Portlaoise is the best Apache. I think this Apache could be much better with their pizzas…

12/02/2026: I ordered online, wasn't given an option to set a time to collect my order but for some reason it swtu collection time to 2 and a half hours after I placed the order. I arrived in the lashing rain, not a single staff member in sight for about 5 minutes, finally someone appears and asks if I want to order, I say I'm waiting on an order. He darts back to god knows where. Other customers call out for staff but no one appears. I cannot see any food being prepared. 15 minutes after arriving it's just me there, no staff, no other customers. For 5 minutes I call out to the empty staff area. Finally the staff member returns, I am in a very upset state, saturated, starving and starting to tear up as I ask if my order is ready yet. Immediately the staff member pulls out the order receipt and tells me about the time set,, before telling me it's my fault. I am shocked because I didn't set that time. Suddenly he raises his voice and keeps giving out to me repeating that it's my fault and that I should have told him about the error I didn't know about. He barely lets me get a word in as I try to ask to cancel the order because I don't have the time to wait another however long it will take for him to make my food. I eventually left. I am never ordering there, I am disgusted with the lack basic decency or social skills, I am autistic and even I know not to give out to a crying person. If you want to get pizza in Carlow, Dominos is better.

20/03/2026: I've been to all the Chinese takeaways in Carlow and The Tiger is number one. New owner, better flavors. I recommend it.

06/03/2026: The New Takeway is so good now. Thanks someone take over the previous one and the food is delicious

30/05/2026: Going on one hour after ordering our food to be delivered, only 1km away, and still not here. Had to call twice. Awful service.

29/04/2026: The best Chinese takeaway I know. The food is always fresh, very tasty and full of flavour. Dishes arrive hot, which is a big plus. Quick service and great value for money. Highly recommend!

01/07/2026: Old world bar full of character. Very genuine and friendly owner. Excellent pint of stout. Highly recommend this bar. Pool tables at the rear of pub if you fancy a game. Customers are very friendly as well. A genuine Cead Mille Failte.

20/06/2026: Got denied here today due to my nationality. They said only guarda issued ids are accepted yet the same fella who refused me for showing a polish passport let my other friends in with their passports, i am of age yet got judged based off race got told my polish passport was no good. Discrimination is ridiculous in 2026 get some cop on.

02/06/2026: First thing, this is not indian restaurant. It a bangaladesh based person. Second they don't know how to prepare food. Waste of money 💰

05/03/2026: Supposed to be one of the nicest Chinese in Carlow. It didn’t disappoint. Nice 3&1, and chicken balls are lovely. Don’t forget to order sweet n sour sauce with them
