The best restaurants in Carlow

21/06/2026: Ordered take away for 5 people and paid 90 euros. An hour later we got our order. I was disappointed with the Pad Thai, as it was burnt. Couldn't eat it! No flavour. Spice box chicken hardly from chicken it was like the coating of the chicken only. Phoned them to complain and she put the phone down saying she will call me back. This place used to be my favourite, but I won't order anymore.

08/06/2026: i went by myself but i think it's good for little dates with who you love after exams i was so tired and i really wanted to eat something and so i decided to go there and try something i dont regret it at all it was so delicious i tried the seabass bento and im 100% sure if i go there again i will eat the same thing i really liked it in fact i loved it i ate every last crumb if you like fish you should try it too it's €20.90 for it if you can afford it buy it definitely the lady working was so nice im sad i didnt get her name the table i sat at had a very fun design i like the fish in the table a lot it's so simple but was so cute and i love cute things the atmosphere is so cosy and feels just like home i love the lights on the walls and the way everything is positioned it wasnt claustrophobic and was so comfortable i dont go out in town often but this place is making me less of an inside person and more of an outside one the food came fast and even came with a free gyoza (i think it is called a gyoza) it was really tasty 10/10 amazing people amazing food amazing place

16/08/2026: I ordered a mixed kebab and I only received the doner kebab; the chicken wasn't included, and the box also said "mix." This is the third time they've gotten my order wrong; they need to be more attentive

27/04/2026: The best kabah I've had in years , fresh and tasty and chips are great also.

07/09/2026: We were celebrating two special events. We have got takeaways from the Lotus in the past but decided we’d go to the restaurant this time to celebrate. I was really shocked how rundown and shabby the restaurant was. There are conference chairs in the majority of the restaurant now. I felt like I was in work. The lighting was glaring. There were no candles on the tables. The same one song was on repeat. We were barely acknowledged when we arrived. Two of the drink options were not available on the already scant wine list. We had our starters which were tasty. Then we waited 45 minutes after that for our mains which were fine. Many takeaway orders went out before we received our orders. Also we had to ask many times for basic things- another drink, another napkin, for our empty glasses to be cleared. The steam table to keep food warm is no longer a thing apparently. Neither are the after dinner mints. The staff seemed incredibly disinterested. The whole experience was nothing short of disappointing. I won’t be returning. As a Carlow native who grew up going to The Lotus for special family events this really saddens me. They need to improve on all levels DRAMATICALLY or I fear they won’t survive. It is incredibly overpriced for what you receive.

06/09/2026: The spice bag is well priced and the staff are friendly. The chips are extremely tasty too. But there isn't anywhere near enough chicken. Needs a lot more chicken tbh.

18/08/2026: I bought Margarita pizza and chips also a Coke. Halfway through my chips I bit Into a frozen chip, at first I thought it was just overcooked but then realised it was actually frozen so I checked a few others and they were frozen too so I am really mad. Hopefully I don’t get food poisoning.

25/06/2026: Went into the restaurant at 12.55 with 2 people ahead of me and exited with my roll at 13.22. 1 person working at a snails pace and even stopping during making a customers roll to service a delivery. Queue at this stage 7/8 long. Second employee walks in 13.16 which isn't good enough. You'll need to take a half day in order to get your lunch in this place.

11/06/2026: I only got a takeaway but what a disaster! Seemingly it’s been going down hill a while! Not good not even remotely close to good……poor, very poor!
