Seemingly it’s been going down hill a while!
Not good not even remotely close to good……poor, very poor!

Fresh Bites
Carlow
25/08/2026: I had a worst experience there. No hygiene.
24/08/2026: We had a very sad and disappointing experience at the Fresh Bite stall in Carlow, near the Library (R93 X7F2), on 24/08/2026.
We had booked a Too Good To Go order and arrived at around 6:00 p.m. to collect it. Unfortunately, we were extremely shocked to see a staff member taking food items from a waste basket and packing them for us.
When we raised our concern, the shopkeeper told us that if we did not want the food, we could cancel the order and would receive our money back.
It was a very upsetting experience, and I never expected this kind of attitude or treatment from a shop. We understand that Too Good To Go involves surplus food, but we still expect the food to be handled hygienically and appropriately and to be suitable for consumption.
Seeing food being taken from a waste basket and then packed for customers was extremely concerning. It made us feel uncomfortable and disappointed, and we did not feel confident about consuming the food.

Riverbank Restaurant
Tullow
01/05/2025: I originally had given this restaurant a 5 star review on the back of having been there a number of times. However, having recently returned, I found that this place has dropped a lot in quality and service. I believe it has changed hands/under new management and it would appear to have gone downhill since then. Such a pity, it was a great place to eat and family friendly.
11/04/2025: Unfortunately, food was just ok and that's me being "generous". Service felt like we were back in 90s. Atmosphere was like a nearly closing down place. Huge potential in the right hands, but definitely not into whomever runs it now. I'm not the person to complain and haven't said anything while settling the bill (which was 74 euro for 2 people and not even a "thank you" received). Won't be rushing again to eat here, for sure.

Bombay Diner
Carlow
08/06/2025: So many gluten free options including the poppadoms. Food takes a while but overall delicious. The pilau rice was super
30/05/2025: I've been ordering takeaway from here for years and this is the first time I've been really disappointed. The pilau rice was half boiled and half pilau for both of us, the onion bhajis were burned and overcooked, the garlic mushrooms were tasteless and both main courses had very watery and salty sauces.
The only okay thing was the naan bread and it was only ok. It was a waste of almost -€50.00. I won't be ordering from here again anytime soon.

Weeping Thaiger
Carlow

Shapla Indian
Carlow
10/06/2026: Issued with a closure order. Disgusting standard for a premises providing food…
01/06/2026: I ordered for collection and the food was excellent. Tasty, on point , and the quality was there. I woke up feeling great, so clearly no crap added for extra flavour. Price was great as well. Will order again for sure!

The MerryTree Restaurant by Rathwood
Carlow
