The best restaurants in Malahide

09/07/2025: My husband and I are here a couple weeks ago, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! We both chose the three course option from menu A, and selected six different dishes to try. My husband is a big eater and was worried that the portion sizes would be too small, but every dish was so rich and filling, we were completely stuffed by the end of the meal! Beautiful, concentrated flavours achieved by time & labour in the kitchen, lovely presentations, and our server was so pleasant and naturally charming. It was a splurge for us, but one of the best meals we'd had in a very long time. One piece of advice I would offer is to make sure that your choices don't overlap too much with their flavour profiles. I did notice that a couple dishes had some very similar components. Other than that, a truly memorable experience, well done to the staff!

26/06/2025: The Greedy Goose is certaintly one of my favorite places in Malahide. The food and staff are amazing. I had a dinner with my bridemate 2 days before my wedding there and she also loved it

22/06/2025: If you are looking to eat somewhere, AVOID!!!! All the food was terrible quality. I got a pizza and it tasted like it was purchased in Centra and stuck in the oven. Disgusting. Staff are also untrained. Good atmosphere

21/06/2025: Good food selection of traditional Irish and other standard pub fare and a kids menu. Large establishment with lots of seating, local hurling matches on TV and cold drinks situated right on a very cool city street that's closed for pedestrian traffic only. Safe and clean, kids welcome

11/07/2025: Myself and my Husband enjoyed a lovely meal here this evening. The welcome was so friendly and professional. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful in ordering. We had ribs and chicken wings to start both fabulous. While I enjoyed a chicken dish my husband had the cod dish of the day both excellent and we finished by sharing a cheesecake which again was lovely. All in all a most enjoyable experience. It was our first time but we certainly will be back.

11/07/2025: We visited for dinner one Sunday recently because gluten free options are available. The food was very good and the waitress was knowledgeable about gluten free options. The restaurant is in a nice location and has a nice vibe. It's popular with families, so early Sunday evening isn't the time to eat there if you want a quiet meal, but otherwise, I'd recommend. It is nice to find restaurants that can accommodate diners with gluten free requirements.

13/07/2025: We recently visited Malahide and were glad we stopped in. The brunch menu is varied and creative. We tried the Deja Vu breakfast, which was flavourful and well presented, with each item— from homemade roti to the unique sausage—prepared perfectly.

13/07/2025: Disgraceful “service”, I wanted to buy food but takeaway they said no they don’t do takeaway. That’s fine, after that I said can I just use the bathroom please they said I cannot it’s only for customers. I said that’s fine, I can buy something, a drink or whatever and they said NO!! They can’t only for customers with food. What world do you live in??? Id never return even to have food in a place like this!! The first waiter giving me looks up and down just because I wasn’t probably dressed appropriately for him, in regular shorts and t shirt coming from the beach!!! Avoid, because if there’s no humility in such a place, the food really doesn’t matter! Disgusting behaviour and you should be ashamed of yourself. Literally didn’t want to sell me any drink because I was not going to have any food. Get over yourselves! Ew!!!

26/07/2025: Not the most quintessential Irish pub atmosphere, but still good and popular locally. Walked in around 20:00 for a late dinner and the place was still fairly full during a midweek evening. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. Satisfied with our dinner. The mixed berry pavlova was a nice dessert after a busy day!

23/07/2025: Nice gastro pub in Malahide village. Great food and all sports on the TVs. Right next to Malahide Dart station. Good atmosphere and service. Great for a sport match on TV

16/07/2025: We were genuinely excited to celebrate a birthday at Old Street Malahide, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, the tone was set by the host, Sean, whose attitude was unexpectedly dismissive and unwelcoming. A proper meet-and-greet should make guests feel comfortable and appreciated — sadly, that was not the case. We had requested a cosy table on the second floor for the celebration. Sean informed us, without much courtesy, that the upstairs area was closed as it wasn’t the weekend. This was quite surprising, as there was no mention of such a restriction on the website. The restaurant was not particularly busy, which made it seem as though the staff simply didn’t want to maintain the upstairs space. This marked the first of several uncomfortable interactions with Sean, who remained cold and unsmiling throughout. Next, we were taken to a room on the ground floor and offered a table by the window, where the sun was glaring directly into our eyes - clearly not a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. We kindly asked to be seated at another available table in the shade. There was a nearby table that was neither marked as reserved nor occupied. However, without any apology or flexibility, Sean told us, “Unfortunately, this table is for five people, and I can’t seat you there.” It felt more like we were being managed as a problem than welcomed as paying guests. We were then led to another section of the restaurant, which was extremely noisy, with guests having to raise their voices just to hold a conversation. At that point, the overall lack of warmth and hospitality had soured the occasion, and we decided to leave in different restaurant. As we walked out, we noticed that the table we had asked for- the one “for five”- remained empty. Ultimately, due to Sean’s unprofessionalism and lack of basic courtesy, the restaurant lost four potential customers who came to celebrate a special occasion and were more than willing to enjoy a full dining experience. A little kindness and flexibility could have made all the difference. Overall, the service felt rushed and impersonal, and the hospitality did not reflect the standard one would expect from a restaurant with such a reputation. It’s unfortunate when a poor first impression defines an entire experience. I truly hope the management takes this feedback seriously. The restaurant certainly has potential - but that can only be fulfilled when guests are welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and respect.

16/07/2025: Unpleasant Greeting Experience at Old Street Malahide Unfortunately, our visit to Old Street Malahide was overshadowed by a very poor first impression, largely due to the attitude of the host, Sean. From the moment we arrived, he was cold, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic hospitality. A greeting sets the tone for the entire dining experience, and in our case, it did -just not in the way we had hoped. Sean made no effort to be welcoming or accommodating. His tone was abrupt, there was no smile, no warmth, and no sense that we were valued as guests. Reasonable requests were met with rigid, unhelpful responses, and it felt as though he was doing the bare minimum to get us seated - or worse, actively discouraging us from staying. It’s a shame because the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and a good reputation, but when the first person you meet makes you feel unwelcome, it taints the entire experience.

03/07/2025: Excellent,friendly service from Charly and Tony. Beautiful setting I had the trio of fish and hubby had lamb wellington, 2nd night of their new menu. Well presented and delicious flavours.

16/06/2025: The staff were exemplary. The window seat was a perfect setting. The desert - pear , meringue and cherry was delicious. The main course, however, fell well short of what I expected . Fondant potatoes were expected. They were not served. Much too much mash came. The beef was overdone and the vegetables very ordinary.

02/07/2025: Without doubt the nicest Italian style restaurant I've been to. The food was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to go again and will highly recommend it.
