Greedy Goose

Malahide
04/01/2026: Dishes that are unique and different from the classics. The crab and cream cheese with their bread are excellent. The three-course pairing options at a reasonable price are appreciated. A decent wine list, though limited by the glass, is available. A view of the harbor completes a slower, more relaxed meal.
28/12/2025: I came on a whim. Entrance is nicely decorated - lovely foyer. Note that the restaurant is on the first floor so there is a flight of steps. I'm fine, skipped up like a hungry gazelle, but others may not be as spry. I was warmly greeted by staff, and got a seat straight away due to the early time. The place was half full at 4pm. Getting a seat without prebooking at a later time may not be so easy. The menu is nicely divided into Earth (that'll be your vegan/veggie selection) Land (meat and poultry) Sea (go on, have a guess...) and Heaven - the dessert section. I ordered a half bottle of Malbec, patatas bravas and the lamb shoulder. Wine is very nice. The lamb was served on a delicious bed of risotto. I enjoyed every morsel. Now, the portion is on the small side as it's a tapas meaning there's room for you to choose other dishes. Perfect for the cuisine curious! It all came to approximately fifty euro. This was a very reasonable price for a xmas treat for myself. 10/10 will be back with friends to sample more plates!

Gibneys

16/01/2026: Came in for a quick pint. They have several local brews including a house stout made by Rye River. Great atmosphere, comfortable pub. Didn't order food because we were in a rush but quite a lot of locals eating there. Food looked great.
13/01/2026: We had a dreadful experience. Ordered chips for the four of us, flagging our son's food allergies. The waiting staff said they would check with the kitchen and it would be fine. They delivered the chips, minus the ones for our son. Said they would follow as they were taking extra care. We'd finished our chips, still no sign. Followed up and turns out the chef refused to cook for our son, but no one had told us. So we had eaten, he couldn't eat. We would not have ordered and eaten if we had known. Talk about abominable service.

20/01/2026: Lovely funky cafe in Malahide. Nice food, coffee and soup! Delicious and reasonable. Very friendly staff.
02/01/2026: Got the toasties and soup deal and my friends got toasties and chips. The soup was fantastic and the toasties were crisp and very cheesy! Only the high chairs were available when we came as the others were occupied. The staff was lovely too. Came in later to get vanilla latte and that was delicious too! Great experience overall :)

Matt Ryan Bar

13/01/2026: I love this hotel. I’ve been a lover of Malahide for a long time but never stayed here until now. I stayed in an Exec Sea View Room, and while the room is kind of dated, I don’t mean that in a negative way. It was not in any way faded or in need of an upgrade, it was clean, elegant, with old world charm. A very comfortable bed, nice Rituals products in bathroom, chocolates and water and a gorgeous corner view of the sea. The staff are wonderful, a warm welcome at reception and in all of the bars and restaurants. The lobby area has a wonderful ambience, warm colours and vibe, busy with customers enjoying afternoon teas, I was told it’s recently been refurbished and they’ve done an excellent job as you could spend all day in here happily. The Marksman bar is also very inviting, can imagine spending a couple of hours in here with cocktails with great atmosphere and lighting. And you are right on the coast for a lovely walk along the sea or a couple of minutes from the main town which has lots to offer. I always like to stay in Malahide rather than Dublin centre, you are only 20/25 mins away by taxi if you want to go and only 12 minutes from the airport. It’s perfect and I can’t wait to return again. It’s a gem.
13/01/2026: My husband and I had a very disappointing meal and experience at the Grand Hotel on a weekday afternoon. I had received a voucher while recovering from an illness, so this visit was meant to be a quiet and special celebration for us both. We arrived before 3pm and were served soup at around 3pm, which was only lukewarm, but we ate it. After that, we waited approximately 45 minutes with no sign of our main courses and no staff anywhere near our table to ask for an update. The restaurant was not busy, with many empty tables. I eventually had to get up and speak to a supervisor, who was apologetic. At 4.10pm — over an hour after the soup — two main courses arrived, both seabass, despite us having ordered one fish and one beef dish. At that point we should have left, but we stayed. The fish was cold, though my husband ate it. My beef arrived even later, after my husband had finished eating. The roast beef was also cold, poorly presented, and unappetising. I could only manage half. The supervisor apologised again and offered complimentary coffee and dessert, which we appreciated. Sadly, the experience did not end there. The following day, both my husband and I became unwell with symptoms consistent with food poisoning - vomiting and diarrhoea, which was extremely upsetting. I am giving one star solely for the supervisor’s professionalism. Everything else was deeply disappointing, and we will not be returning or recommending the restaurant. The delays, incorrect orders, cold food, and lack of staff presence strongly suggest problems with organisation, staffing, timing, and kitchen standards, which I believe management should urgently review. A four-star rating for this restaurant is difficult to justify.

Seabank Bistro

Malahide
18/12/2025: Very good food and great service!
07/12/2025: Incredible food and flawless service Seabank Bistro is simply fantastic. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared, but the service was also incredible—attentive, friendly, and professional. You can tell the team here really cares about what they do; the standard is just something else. A 5-star experience from start to finish.
