31/03/2024: I usually don’t write reviews, but when compared to another one star restaurant we went to the night before, Aniar did not meet the expectations. Perhaps we came on an off day, but the dishes served to us did not have the same level of intricacy or the level of care raved by other reviewers (see photos). There were many repeated elements throughout the 20+ courses - such as the dusting of nettle powder and the usage of tuile for texture. (Another item I suspected was the seafood custard cream being used in the chawanmushi and the oyster ice cream.) In addition to that, two of the dishes we had were too salty, we couldn’t finish the cod with barbecued kale despite it being visually pleasing. As for the service, we found it to be pretentious. When paying, the waiter asked what our jobs were with no intention to continue the conversation. The chef of the evening rushed his greeting to us but when we were leaving, took his time to make nice with another table. Both interactions at the end ruined an otherwise decent dinner.

03/04/2024: Beautiful. The ambience is chosen very deliberately and you can always discover treasures in the cafe. The tea selection is very good and the selection of snacks/food is rather small. Unfortunately there is no barrier-free toilet.

10/03/2024: Small and cozy place. They are very interested. Treat you very well. But food options are limited. But if you are looking for a cheese platter, they probably offer more options. Prices are reasonable for wines, but quite expensive for cheese platter and other food.

06/03/2024: Berry the owner is absolutely amazing, our visit to Trieste Cafe & Wine Bar was the most pleasant experience we’ve had in Galway. Our next trip we will be back just to see Barry and experience his unbelievable wine and local cheese selection. Thank you Berry for the great wine, cheese, and all of the recommendations, you’ve turned our experience from pleasant to unforgettable.

19/03/2024: Waiter was attentive to small and elegant things to consider - repositioned drinks from one end of the bar to the other to avoid us disturbing other clients having returned from a smoke break. All in all, good choice of beers and the atmosphere is really nice. They organize some different activities ranging from live music to language exchange tables. (Too) Short a time spent in there.

19/03/2024: Liam, our bartender, was great! We had stopped by for a few pints! Tried a different beer made with seaweed, and it was surprisingly good!

02/04/2024: Easily the best meal we had in all of Ireland (and that's not to say we didn't have other incredible meals). The food and drink here were both top tier and the service was great.

31/03/2024: This is one of those menus where you find it hard to imagine exactly how this might taste, and when you take that first bite, your mouth is amazed and delighted. The food was incredible! Our waiter suggested the braised leaks filled with bulgur & goat cheese with some sort of tomato coulis. Hmm, ok, we'll try it....it was Amazing!! OMG. As was the fish. Oh, and the appetizers. You must make reservations to eat upstairs. Go - treat yourself.

03/04/2024: ‘Fish & Bravas’ particularly delicious! However, service slow – we were set to order desserts and more drinks, but plates weren’t cleared for 15+ minutes after we had finished.

31/03/2024: Absolutely lovely staff with a very welcoming smile! Service is available in Irish too! A discount of €0.10 is available to offers made in Irish. Great coffee, and hot chocolate too. Highly recommend as I find this isn't just a financial enterprise looking to make just a profit but one, which by offering service in Irish, is a social enterprise too; offering a chance to use a cúpla focal.

24/03/2024: Plámás has become one of my favorite places, if not my favorite in Galway. The coffee and cakes are amazing, and can't forget about the Hapi Bakery Sambos! Can't recommend enough! The baristas are the kindest, always a nice little chat with them. I love how they always have some fliers around - so good to find out about some Galway

30/03/2024: Late review, went here for dinner last December and I’m STILL thinking about the chicken wings and their lamb (very tender!). No doubt the best pub food in Ireland!
