Woozza Wood Fired Pizza

Galway
21/04/2026: We can't say enough great things about this place! The staff made us feel so welcome. The pizza was amazing. You could tell it was made with love. The desserts were out of this word! Creme Brulee, Tiramisu, and Affogato, DELICIOUS! Highly recommend Woozza over all the other pizza spots. You won't regret it!

22/04/2026: The best pizza I’ve tried in Ireland!
21/04/2026: Amazing Pizza Margherita. We devoured it before I could snap a picture. Here on a bus tour, this was a quick and tasty option for anyone who might be a bit fish and chipped out.

Osteria Italiana Da Simone

Galway
08/06/2026: My partner and I just visited this restaurant, where we discovered the flavors of home. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and welcoming, especially the waiter Diego...it was like visiting an old friend... Highly recommended.
31/05/2026: The single star in this review is awarded solely for the service, which was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the food itself fell well below expectations.. An osteria is historically a simple, welcoming establishment focused on honest, regional cooking, quality ingredients, and traditional preparations served in an unpretentious atmosphere. It is not intended to be fine dining, but it should deliver authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and well-executed dishes. Sadly, that was not my experience here. I began with the calamari. It was largely tasteless and noticeably rubbery. The toughness of the calamari suggested that it was either made from previously frozen product or had been significantly overcooked. The breading itself appeared uniform and processed in a way that suggested a pre-coated commercial product rather than calamari prepared and breaded in-house. Either way, the result was a disappointing appetizer that lacked both flavor and proper texture. What was particularly surprising was its accompaniment. The calamari appeared to be served with plain mayonnaise. In Italy, fried calamari is traditionally served with little more than a wedge of lemon, allowing the flavor of the seafood itself to take center stage. When prepared properly, fresh calamari should have a delicate yet vibrant flavor that stands on its own and requires very little embellishment. The purpose of the lemon is to enhance that flavor, not conceal it. The mayonnaise felt more reminiscent of a generic pub appetizer than a dish one would expect to find in a traditional Italian osteria. Next was the bruschetta. Traditional Italian bruschetta is served on sliced, toasted bread rubbed with garlic and topped with fresh ingredients. Historically, bruschetta originated as a practical way for Italian families to make use of day-old or stale bread, reflecting a culinary culture that prized resourcefulness and sought to use every ingredient to its fullest rather than waste food. The beauty of the dish lies in its simplicity: quality bread, quality olive oil, and fresh toppings. Just as importantly, bruschetta should provide a satisfying crunch when bitten into. The toasted bread is a defining characteristic of the dish, creating a contrast between the crisp base and the fresh toppings. Here, however, the bruschetta was served on pizza dough instead of toasted bread. Rather than offering the expected crunch, it flopped over like a slice of pizza when picked up. In doing so, the dish lost not only its traditional texture but also much of the character and history that make bruschetta such a classic part of Italian cuisine. To be fair, the topping itself was reasonably flavorful. The tomatoes, however, lacked the sweetness and depth of flavor one would hope for in a dish where they are a central ingredient. I do not place the full blame for this on the restaurant, as sourcing truly vine-ripened tomatoes in western Ireland can be challenging. For the main course, I ordered the Chicken Puttanesca. Puttanesca should be a bold, vibrant dish characterized by robust flavors from tomatoes, olives, capers, garlic, and herbs. Instead, the dish was surprisingly bland. The chicken itself was unremarkable in taste and, unfortunately, somewhat chewy and tough. More disappointing was the sauce, which lacked the bold, savory character that defines a proper puttanesca and came across as flat and largely flavorless. For anyone familiar with traditional Italian cooking, this would be difficult to accept, as the hallmark of Italian cuisine is not complexity, but the ability to create rich flavor from simple, quality ingredients. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing dining experience and, in my view, a poor representation of what an osteria should be. While the staff deserve credit for their excellent service, the kitchen failed to deliver the quality, flavor, and authenticity one would reasonably expect from an establishment calling itself an osteria.

Freddy's

Galway, 20-30£
05/05/2026: Lovely warm friendly staff. Had Calzone ham and mushroom. Not many mushrooms, very fatty ham for the bit there was. Was here before xmas, had same dish which was beautiful with generous fillings. A little disappointed this time. Still a lovely place to eat with a lovely ambiance.
27/04/2026: We were a table of five on Monday, April 20th, and we had a very good meal. We would particularly like to thank our Hungarian waiter, Bejar, for his thoughtful touches and kindness. The food was excellent.

Woozza

Galway
16/03/2026: I just want to say something to people leaving reviews here. Yes, sometimes the delivery might take a bit longer than expected — it happens with many places. But please don’t destroy the rating of this place because of that. The pizza here is honestly incredible. The ingredients are fresh, the taste is amazing, and you can tell it’s made with real care. Places like this are rare. I know this spot well and every time I want to order pizza, this is the only place that comes to mind. That says a lot. Also, the staff are great — the girl at the counter is always very friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better.
02/02/2026: it’s nice and small. Love getting their small margarita pizzas.

Mona Lisa

Galway
11/06/2026: Really nice place and great food! I really Italian experience!
09/06/2026: Local Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, but the food was good. Small tables. Bread and olives beforehand, not recommended. The olives were soft and not really tasty, and the olive oil was also missing. Main course, seafood ravioli in tomato sauce. The best dish, well prepared and flavorful sauce. Another dish, seafood fregola. This dish just wasn't quite there; more quantity than quality here. 2 glasses of white wine with it, for 65 euros total.

Trattoria Magnetti

Galway
08/05/2026: The Caprese Salad and the Pizza Diavola were delicious and more than enough for 2 people. Service was very attentive as well!
01/05/2026: Perhaps it was the dish I ordered. The portions are huge. However, I had the privilege to encounter 2 other diners that engaged with me which made the atmosphere more welcoming. The seafood pasta was good but felt the pasta wasnt cooked as thoroughly as it should be. The wines they have, legit as i notoriously buy those same bottles at home

Zappi's

Galway
09/05/2026: They were sampling some of the pizza out in the square and it was quite good. We decided to try out the restaurant. Tried ordering several things, but the first 3 things we tried to order were out. Finally ordered a pizza and a salad. Friends with us had ordered a pizza. Theirs came so much before ours that they had finished it and the waitstaff was looking to clear the table, but we hadn't received even our salad yet. When the food came, it was quite good, but the combination of the extreme delay, the items that were out, and the lack of timing is going to be problematic for this restaurant.
18/04/2026: Very nice food, compliments to the chef. I will definitely comeback.
