The best restaurants in Louth

26/03/2025: Firstly I would like to address how disappointed we were in No.3 restaurant for my sons confirmation. The service was below average. I would understand if we had arrived unexpectedly however they knew we would be there. Some tables received their starters a good 25 minutes after everyone else. When asked the waiting staff to see where the food was it was replied it will be out when it's ready. For the main course tables ordered fish and chips however only got the chips when they finished the fish. The feedback from the roast beef it was tough and unedible. I was highly embarrassed that I had chosen No.3 as our family meal. The manager in my opinion should have been present and overseen that everything went well however he was present and did not once approach us. Unfortunately the day was a big let down due to the fact that it appeared they were unable to accommodate a large table with a very reduced 4 starters and 4 main courses set menu.

23/02/2025: Had a beautiful meal here, amazing gluten free options, extensive wine selection, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

14/12/2024: Excellent service, friendly welcoming staff and great café food. The high number of locals frequenting Harry's Cafe was testament to the high standard maintained.

09/12/2024: I just had a fantastic Kale salad from Harry's. I ordered it to take away, and it was delicious. It was a perfectly cooked poached egg with Kale, peanuts, and sweet potato.

23/06/2024: So disappointed in the carrickdale secret garden food these days, it has no taste and is reheated. Myself and my partner ordered sandwiches (wraps) and they came out in a few minutes, you could tell the wedges were sitting there all day. It costed us 40 euro and we would have been safer eating a McDonald’s. Wish carrickdale secret garden, bar and carvey would be given the attention it deserves as it used to be given years ago the food was gorgeous.

31/03/2024: Went with my other half and mum for my birthday and it was fantastic and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. Always a treat to come for the carvery and it was terrific as usual. Mum needed a wee bit of assistance and the staff couldn't have done more for us. The food BTW was excellent. The roasts were very tender and tasty. The portion sizes are huge and one meal would easily feed two. Really lovely place and the staff are just terrific and incredibly friendly - love it!

19/02/2025: I come here 2-4 times per year. Great scampi and prawns. Fish batter undercooked which is not normal as the food is generally great. BE VERY CAREFUL if you are using a credit or debit card not from Ireland. In every restaurant I have ever been in I get charged in my currency or asked if I want the conversion rate. I was NOT asked here. Entered my pin and then the person sorting the bill used the conversion rate in the quickest way possible before I could say anything. Outcome I get a conversion rate at 8.9% versus the 17% my bank gives me. This is obviously policy and not the fault of the staff member who was very nice. I will not be back as it has completely spoilt a family meal.

15/12/2024: Amazing restaurant with excellent seafood! Staff were attentive, friendly and the overall atmosphere was cosy and warm. We were first time visitors and will definitely be back! If you like seafood then this place is a must!

06/02/2025: Un peu vide et froid (ambiance hein pas chauffage) pour le déjeuner mais la cuisine était standard. Un curry un peu banal mais correct. Bonne bière. Si on est pressé ca vaut le coup parce qu'il serve toute la journée sinon cherchez autre chose si vous avez le temps

22/09/2024: It was a weekend & we happened to overnight nearby so headed to Blackwater bay recommended by the guesthouse. We searched the area for a traditional restaurant but ended up going to Te Black Wok. We were certainly not disappointed...Good quality & good Asian Food @ Reasonable Prices despite proper linen table cloths & napkins & great service. We were delighted as we didnt expect that standard as often chinese/Asian restaurants are rather plasticy. Food was much higher standard than normal. Again a good telltale is the number of people waiting for associated takeaways. We would certainly go back

01/09/2024: I was charged €23 for a 10 inch munchie box and €9.50 for a spice bag. Once we got it the majority was chips … very little chicken at all in it. When I rang to complain they didn’t understand what I was trying to say so they got the boss to give me a call back. They requested the food back but we were out of the town and had the food eaten. They said they couldn’t do anything about it and that was their portion sizes. Never paid as much for a munchie box in my life or should I say a box of chips!! I will not be back in this place. Absolute disgrace

08/04/2025: Me and my friends went there for dinner (the food was lovely), spent nearly 200 euros. When paying our bill the staff member was letting us know about what entertainment was on in there that night and told us to come. Well later that night roughly 10:30 my friend and her husband were the first to go to get our table. While they were about to walk in the two door staff moved closer and told them "not tonight folks". My friend didn't know what to do. She explained to him that they were in earlier and that they were told come bk, that a a DJ was on untill 2 in the morning. All he kept saying was " no not tonight, you're not getting in". They were so embarrassed! Wouldn't give her a reason, just kept repeating the same crap over and over! We decided to have a nosey on FB to see if anyone else had this issue with the door staff and wouldn't you know, there were lots of reviews of people getting treated the same way. What we think happened was that those two incompetent ****** heard their Belfast accents and decided that they weren't getting in! We didn't let it go, the next day we called bk to the restaurant/bar to make a complaint plus find out through CCTV why they were refused entry. 1. They weren't drunk. 2. They're both in their 40's. A married couple walking hand and hand. They weren't being rowdy. After explaining everything to the staff member on duty he apologised and said that those door staff are an outside company. He also said that the reviews on FB were all hearsay. Which we disagreed with obviously because my friends were treated the exact same. It literally ruined the whole vibe of our trip. We're not letting it go. Door staff get away with this sort of behaviour all the time and this place seems to be renowned for it. It seems to be a regular occurrence here! We left our number and asked the staff member to review the door staffs bodycam footage and to let us know what reason the had got refusing us entry after happily taking out money that same afternoon.!

31/03/2025: I had my son's 16th birthday in Rum house Dundalk...recently renovated and looks amazing. Everyone had a great time. The atmosphere was buzzing!. The staff, were amazing, a special thanks to Adrienne, who communicated with me so well, Ann, who always looks after us so well and the other waiting staff... especially to the lovely girl, I don't know her name, who was extra vigilant in taking photos of my son when birthday cake came out. I went for the set menu and house wine...the food was delicious and excellent choice of 5 starters and mains. The wine was also very good. It was overall top class and good value. Thank you Rum House for helping me make extra special memories for my son.
