17/12/2025: What a lovely genuine tea rooms with the most delicious home made (how rare this is today) cakes, biscuits and muffins. Full of atmosphere and great friendly service. You couldn't get better!!

26/10/2025: Couldn't even go in due to their only accepting cash ('Cash Only sign outside). Very disappointing.

03/01/2026: I've been to this pub a number of times over the years to drink and to eat. Staff are always so so friendly and helpful. I have always got great drink and fantastic food. Always a great draught and wiskey selection and the menu is hearty good food with a great selection of fresh sea food.

03/01/2026: Popped in here over the Christmas break for some lunch. The chap at the bar was very friendly and welcoming and quickly sorted us out with a table. We sat down, and a young blonde waitress came over just as my partner had gone to the bathroom. I asked if she could come back in a few minutes, which she seemed somewhat put out by. After waiting around 10 minutes, we went to the bar to ask if we could order. A further five minutes passed before we asked a passing waiter, at which point the same waitress came over, visibly annoyed — as if expecting to order food was somehow unreasonable. The service overall from the waitress was extremely poor: stroppy, disengaged, and lacking even basic eye contact. This was particularly disappointing because the food itself was actually very nice. The initial chap at the bar clearly understood customer service, but his colleague completely let the place down. There was zero interaction when the food was handed over, and the overall experience felt completely disinterested. To top it off, we were left with the bill but no one came to take payment, nor were we told whether we should pay at the bar. All in all, a really poor effort in customer service, which unfortunately overshadowed some very nice food and nice atmosphere overall

19/11/2025: Was here a few weeks back the waitress was very rude my mother is 80 and we asked for soup and a sandwich she replied in literally one breath," we don't do sandwiches on a Sunday,I need the table back by 3pm and use will be finished by then so that doesn't really apply" I was gobsacked even the couple beside us said she was so rude.

27/12/2025: After staying at the Ghan House in October 2024, we decided to have our wedding party there: We had our wedding at Ghan House with 70 guests on a Friday in early September 2025, and we honestly couldn’t have chosen a better venue. From the very beginning, communication during planning – and on the day itself – was excellent. The team was incredibly accommodating and made all of our requests and wishes possible in a reasonable and professional way. The service and staff were outstanding, including impeccable time keeping on the day. Everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully enjoy ourselves. The venue itself is stunning – the house and garden are beautiful and create such a special atmosphere. Ghan House really feels like a sanctuary right in the centre of Carlingford, which is especially valuable on busy weekends when the town can turn into a crazy stag-party hotspot. One huge plus was that all guests could stay within walking distance, and it’s also just a short walk to St. Michael’s Church, which made logistics incredibly easy. The location is ideal for activities the day before or after the wedding – we enjoyed a hike to Slieve Foye, sauna time at Hot Box, golfing, and even joining the stag-party chaos at PJ’s for those who wanted it. The venue has a real house-party vibe, with different rooms to move between (bar room, fireplace room, etc.), which our guests absolutely loved. We received so many compliments on the atmosphere – everyone had an amazing time. Food was another highlight: very good quality, with excellent vegetarian and vegan options (plenty and well thought out). We chose the buffet, with starters and desserts served, which worked perfectly. The breakfast the next morning was also amazing. Also we were able to bring our own wine (for a corkage fee). In short: don’t hesitate – book it!! Ghan House exceeded all our expectations and gave us a wedding day we (and our guests) will never forget. 06/01/2026: I Don’t often write reviews, but this was so horrendous I had to. My husband and I went for dinner there over Christmas. We both ordered the seafood chowder for Main course. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted anything worse. There was no seafood in it. I tried the sauce, but couldn’t eat the gloppy lumps . I asked the waitress what they were she said she doesn’t know. She went and asked the chef, and I was told it was fake crabsticks. They Didn’t taste like crab sticks. They were slimy had the consistency of suet dumplings or gnocchi. We complained to the manager and said we didn’t want to pay for one of the chowders as I didn’t eat it. (We paid for starters, wine and 1 chowder) We were threatened with calling the police, she took my photograph and sent it to all the other pubs in the village and had the bouncers escort my husband and I out. I have never known this kind of behaviour before. It was like something from EastEnders. She looked and acted like Peggy Mitchell also! THE WORST PART, The following day we were driving home and a car was coming for us. It was the manager/ owner flashing her lights and frantically giving us the 2 fingers. I have honestly never seen such ignorant or rude behaviour!

02/01/2026: Fabulous experience today. The staff were fantastiv and went above and beyond. The food was outstanding. Been in the town for a few days and this venue was the best by far!

31/12/2025: We came for my wife’s birthday. What a super little place. Good location for the town. Lovely, cosy atmosphere inside. The staff were excellent. And as for the food…. It was very good indeed. Everything we had was spot on. They even brought a candle out and sung Happy Birthday.

07/12/2025: We ate here on Thursday evening;Colette had booked it as a birthday surprise. The food was amazing and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The chef,apologies,didn’t get his name,came out for a chat. Definitely be back.Something for everyone-the specials board was massive! Thank you for a memorable evening.
