05/10/2025: I ADORE this place. This restaurant gives very creative answers in putting fermented/pickled ingredients into their dishes. Apparently their menu also changes every week to reflect the season. One dish we had was with fermented walnuts. It tastes like pickled cucumber but looks like sliced mushrooms... The confit & liver pithivier thing in my duck breast dish was a gem. So good that I had to save it to the last. Eating at this place feels like a treasure hunt or foraging in a forest. There's something unique and creative in every dish. I could taste the attentiveness and the value of this restaurant. The atmosphere is great - welcoming, relaxing but with standard. You wouldn't feel underdressed wearing casual clothes, but you also know this place provides quality experience the second you walk in. Dessert - First time ever trying ice cream with woodruff flavour. Had to Google what woodroof is if I'm honest. Glad I tried. It's a mix taste of vanilla, cinnamon, and other fresh herbs. The creme brulee is THICK. It's VERY dense and creamy. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but beware, it might not be the wisest idea to finish all of it when you're nearly full. I had great fun eating here. What a successful adventure!! I recommend this place to everyone!

19/07/2025: Nunca me sentí más desagradable en un pub irlandés. Personal de bar bastante grosero y gruñón y ninguna broma de nadie dentro. Un pub que se esfuerza por presentarse como un gastro sigue siendo una casa de copas muy simple, poco atractiva, solo para los lugareños. El personal del salón afortunadamente posee encanto y gracia.

11/07/2025: Sin duda el mejor desayuno de la zona. Llevo viniendo aquí unos cuantos años y siempre es excelente. Dos salchichas de buen tamaño, dos lonchas de cerdo, huevo frito, tomate a la plancha, morcilla y pudin, dos tostadas y té o café, buena relación calidad-precio por 12€. 50 . El servicio es siempre eficiente y amable y la impresión es la de un establecimiento gestionado muy profesionalmente. Una cosa más, las patatas fritas siempre vienen servidas en un plato caliente, algo que no siempre se consigue en otro sitio.

28/09/2025: You can make up your breakfast which is great as the menu is not your traditional one, seems to have lots of alternative options. Not much space between the seats. Seems to be a popular spot, hence was crowdy. Pricey as well as I spent around 35 euros for breakfast for two. I enjoyed my eggs , sourdough bread was quite dry. Seems like a shop bought one.

29/09/2025: One of my favourite bistros in Dublin lovely choice of food, nice drinks menu, great service & quite reasonable overall, they cater for groups too, located in Rathgar we have been going here for decades and never had a bad experience, also the pastry & coffee shop next door is part of the same business & its cakes etc are to die for.

14/09/2025: Service was appalling, was trying to order a drink was asked to move certain area so I did. Then proceeded to get ignored by the bar staff who asked me to move in so I asked why, again because I was “not in the que” even though there was no designated Que here sign. Didn’t get name but very distinct staff member, Round glasses and mullet working upstairs by the smoking area absolutely awful service. All could have been avoided by better communication.

11/10/2025: My 6 year old enjoyed his crepe with chocolate, strawberries & banana. My French toast was undercooked with both anemic and over cooked bacon. The one customer toilet is not good!

10/10/2025: Blini are truly unique. To Ukrainians, they taste like they're made from powder. My advice: don't even try them.

13/10/2025: Very helpful staff working here. I was served by a striking young man named Sean. He was very helpful and was easily able to lift all the fish with his big strong veiny hands. He was very sensual in the way he caressed the fish, which I very much enjoyed. He packaged them very neatly and took good care of me not to eat raw fish.

11/10/2025: As the Irish would say: lovely!! The food and ambiance are simply wonderful and outstanding. We highly recommend it.

11/10/2025: Had brunch at The Gables and tried the Egg Norwegian. Unfortunately, it was a below-average dish — quite dry, and the poached eggs were overcooked. Service was only average, nobody checked on us during our meal, and I was waiting for someone’s attention just to order a glass of water. There was an unpleasant smell and a sticky floor in the ladies’ toilet, which made the place feel poorly maintained. Definitely not the high-standard spot you’d expect.

08/10/2025: I had lunch today from the new menu, a Cajun chicken wrap with chips. absolutely delicious, I'm still thinking about it.. going back again soon... yum. Staff as lovely and friendly as ever, always feel so welcome.

30/09/2025: Fantastic food, tastes so fresh. Friendly service, in a quaint setting. Would most especially recommend the halloumi taco starter.

22/09/2025: We have been here with 4 people on Saturday to have diner we took the chargrilled sirloin steak and it was very very bad ,the meat was very tough with all 4 of us and when we told the staff it wasn't good, she just said ok 😳. So never again for us!!!!!

22/10/2025: We had a very positive experience on our first visit and will definitely be back. The food was excellent, super tasty, the pasta was fresh and made by an Italian chef. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The service was exceptional, and I'd like to highlight Vinícius for his excellent service, friendliness, and menu recommendations. He made our experience at the restaurant even better. We absolutely recommend it.

19/10/2025: 3.5 stars - The food and atmosphere was great but however, the service felt rushed, with waitstaff repeatedly pressing for orders despite our explaining that we were waiting for three additional guests. This impatience detracted from the overall experience and I believe in any restaurant, paying customers should never feel like an inconvenience. Additionally, the €25 fee for bringing our own cake was disappointing.

14/10/2025: We didn’t even get to try the food or the water. Terrible service. Seating 50min at the table without getting the drinks or the oysters.

29/09/2025: Savory chicken and waffles - ask for maple syrup if you want sweet. Isabelle Breakfast was tasty and filling - black pudding was a new treat. Excellent service. Younger and energetic crowd.

28/09/2025: Went in looking for a table on a Sunday at 2.35pm after seeing there was a table available at 2.45 on OpenTable. Front of house turned us away saying the kitchen was closed! Even the menu in the window says brunch is available until 2.45pm. Restaurants are crying out for customers apparently but not this place, they're happy to turn you away. Don't bother!
