22/05/2025: A little gem and so worth a visit. So welcoming. Amazing food, awesome staff and a beautiful, quaint setting. This place has it all. We had duck / citrus salad and fish tacos. All super. We will definitely call again next time we bike west.

18/06/2025: After the recent renovations I was very curious to see what it would be like staying here. I'm pleased to say it was a lovely time, the place is very comfortable, interior decorations feel luxurious and the included breakfast was delicious. For such a great price, I highly recommend!

07/06/2025: We held our wedding at the Old Stonehouse Ballinlough over the June bank holiday weekend. From start to finish Mags and Ray were brilliant! The food was exceptional and considering most of guests ordered steaks everything was cooked to perfection! The atmosphere was beautiful and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Cannot thank them enough for the amazing day they facilitated for us. 100% recommend the Old Stonehouse for your weekend meal out or if you are planning a small wedding.

21/06/2025: Very information board heavy, some of which had the same information printed on more than one board. Some artefacts of interest. Largely ends in 1847, not much discussion of impact. Lots of potential for a really meaningful national famine museum but this isn’t it. Whether it’s a lack of funding or imagination, something needs to be sorted out.

14/05/2025: Great day for my daughter's communion and having dinner and drinks with family. Rooms are dated, and their could have been more outdoor seating. Maybe pergola area.
13/05/2025: As the hotel is old, you can expect many "attractions" related to it.
Unfortunately, there are many issues that are purely organizational, such as a kettle set connected to nowhere.
The hotel has ****, but only because of the state of ownership of the swimming pool, which is very neglected.
In the swimming pool changing room with 4 showers, there was no soap in any cabin.
The state of cleanliness in the changing room leaves much to be desired, as does the steam sauna or swimming pool hall.
