22/02/2026: Myself and my husband had a lovely meal in The Cottage restaurant this evening. The food was exceptional. Very tasty. Service was fantastic- waitresses and waiter were very attentive. We will be back and will certainly be recommending this restaurant to family and friends.

15/02/2026: We had the set menu here on Sunday. It was absolutely delicious , couldn’t fault it. Would definitely recommend. The staff were so friendly and bubbly. We’ll be back for sure.

In essence, Strokesyown House and Gardens and Famkne Museum transcends the ordinary, offering a harmonious blend of history, innovation, and hospitality. Whether you're seeking a journey through time or a sanctuary for creative exploration, this enchanting mansion promises an experience that lingers long after the visit concludes.The Park's House has been opened after an extensive refurbishment and it's spectacular. The fairy woodland walk and Victorian Gardens are a treat, too. The House now also boasts a cafe and gift shop with the entrance akin to that of a five-star hotel. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating for families. This year we had a wonderful time at the Victorian Santa Claus Experience. From start to finish it felt genuinely magical and very well organised. Eilish handled the tour perfectly. She guided everyone smoothly to where they needed to be, kept everything on schedule, and was professional and warm throughout. It made a real difference to the experience, especially with families and excited children. The elves were fantastic and fully in character, Santa was pure excellence, and Mrs Claus completely stole the show. She was engaging, funny, and memorable in the best possible way. I would highly recommend this to any family looking for an authentic and thoughtfully put together Santa experience. It felt special, immersive, and genuinely festive. Can't wait to go back again.

28/02/2026: We were staying locally and this restaurant was recommended - it was excellent. Great ambience, friendly staff and really good food. The garlic potato side dish is a killer!! Would definitely come back. We had made a reservation and they were having to turn people away on a Friday night.

04/11/2025: We often stop here on the way to the west of Ireland. Its a great halfway stop. Lovely food, cosy atmosphere. Staff always lovely. Their veg soup and brown bread is delicious 😋

27/10/2025: Called in this morning 9am while passing through the area, reception door wouldn't open, but the restaurant door was. I asked the staff if they were severing breakfast, one of the staff said "No" and something about been full, hard to understand the accent. She said I could get something to eat in the garage down the road, if i wanted to eat in a garage i wouldn't be asking are they seriving breakfast, don't see how they were full as the car park was half empty (5 cars) and there was no one in the restaurant at all, place looked dead. Went onto Stokestown and had a lovely Breakfast in the Percy French Hotel. Never again.

25/01/2026: My first recommendation is that, if you want to book, do so directly with Gleeson's, because the price I paid through booking.com was almost twice what Gleeson's charges direct. This family-run establishment is served by really helpful and mostly friendly employees. As other reviews say, the breakfast is quite good, and I highly recommend trying their homemade scones if you have any interest. However, there are quite a few downsides. I heard every single person who walked by my door or up or down the stairs which were right by my room. I also heard everything from the rooms on either side, because it seems the walls are paper thin. Additionally, the rooms are quite dated and less in a charming way, and more in a 'wow, this is old and stained' kind of way (see pictures of chair and carpet). So, the breakfast and location are good and the staff is really nice, but the room was loud and pretty dingy. Also keep in mind that when they say 'double bed,' they mean it. As two adults used to a queen, neither got much sleep.

20/01/2026: Gleeson's Restaurant & Rooms is an unusual cross between hotel and guest house ... but isn't quite either. Breakfast is served rather than the usual hotel self-service which I expect is more economical for Gleeson's given its size. Breakfast was great on the first morning ... went down a bit after that. Single room was fine ... but way over heat making it difficult to sleep. Leaving the window open wasn't a good idea as I seemed to be over a ground floor service door ... noisy late evening and early morning.

22/11/2025: On a Friday night you know tourism is dead in the west when serving stops at half 12 on a "FRIDAY" night.... In the interest of bringing tourists in maybe open late and have trad music!!! Or does that not suit your propaganda!!

03/03/2026: Unfortunately I'm unable to rate this venue as when we arrived it was closed. The bar is open but food is only served Thursday thru w/end. While we appreciate that customer is quiet this time of the year, it's not really too much to expect the information on line to be updated. So disappointed
