02/11/2024: Prompt service, good sized portions for good price and squash on the table which was a nice touch to go with the tap water (which was brought to our table within a couple minutes of sitting down without even needing to ask for it)
12/10/2024: A very popular Pub/Restaurant with a varied interesting menu. Food was delicious and service fast and friendly. We were lucky to get a table without having to book, but next time l will make sure l reserve a table.

The Cottage Restaurant
11/11/2024: 4 of us went for dinner on Saturday evening. Food was fantastic and the staff were lovely. We thought the 4 course meal for €60 was excellent value for the quality and presentation of the meal.
03/11/2024: Brilliant meal from start to finish. Three of us had the pork gyoza one butternut squash soup and a crispy fried chicken for starters. Tasted all...delicious. The mains were equally excellent: half of a roast chicken, a malaysian style chicken curry, two baked cod with potato gratin in a shrimp sauce and a duck noodle dish. Superb all. Well the ' piè de réistance' were the deserts. Generosity of portions knew no bounds here. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in a fine Sunday dining experience.

22/09/2024: A great welcome was followed by generous, 'Full Monty' portions of wholesome food & entertaining staff. A great pint of Guinness was savoured with regular bursts of wild Irish wit & belly laughs throughout our meal. This was a wonderful experience for our 88 year old Mother - she loved every aspect of this gastro pub & it's friendly staff. All praise to Gerry who looked after our whole family so well.
Highly recommended - you certainly won't leave hungry ☘️💚☘️

Gleesons
Roscommon
19/10/2024: I went for breakfast and was really lovely
17/10/2024: We had a wonderful stay at Gleesons. The staff of the inn and restaurant were warm, friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. The location was perfect to enjoy the local bars, walk the town and even run to the local park, Loughnaneane Park. The location was great for stopping off to head to other parts of the north and west of Ireland!

The Grind
Castlerea
05/07/2024: Shame it closed - Best coffee I've found so far in Ireland. It's the equivalent of Espresso 44 in Galway, with even better coffee. The shop is small and always smells like freshly brewed coffee. Crazy idea, but I'd love it if they would also sell the best coffee scented candles they could find from Yankees and hand crafted. Friendly staff, impeccably clean.

Down The Hatch
Roscommon
30/05/2024: Spent a few days in Ireland last week, between Dublin and Roscommon. Sampled a lot of pubs and a LOT of Guinness. Down The Hatch was by far my favorite stop on the whole trip. Incredibly welcoming staff at the bar, and regulars having a pint, made us feel right at home. It is a proper pub, where you can sit and have a pint and enjoy a chat. Brilliant atmosphere and a cracking pint of Guinness. I have family in Roscommon and this will be my usual haunt whenever I am visiting in the future.

Waterfront Restaurant
27/10/2024: Long ago a poet visited Donerale in North Cork. He stopped for a night and got a very cold treatment. He then wrote a poem about the village that put this village on the map for all the wrong reasons!
My wife and I stopped in Cootehall on our rented Carrickcraft boat. We decided to go for two drinks before dinner on our boat that was slow cooking in the oven. The first pub that we found was closed for many years. The second by the pub was just closed. We then went to the waterfront. We asked if we could have drinks only out the front as there was loads of tables that were non dining. We were told that we would have to have food with drinks.
While this is a restaurant, I have been in many restaurants that accommodate visitors, especially early evening.
For a village that seems to rely on tourism business, perhaps this business might consider opening a small visitors corner where visitors might have a couple of drinks and perhaps some light food before going back to their boats ?
All in all, we had a lovely stay in the village.
