The best restaurants in Roscommon

16/08/2025: I’ve been hearing wonderful feedback about this restaurant from friends and the community. The atmosphere looks welcoming, and the menu offers an impressive variety of dishes. I’m really looking forward to dining here soon. Wishing the team continued success and growth!

10/08/2025: There are not enough stars in the universe to come close to reflecting the absolutly amazing experience at The Cottage. From the moment myself and my friend entered the building we were greeted like old friends and made feel welcome , relaxed and attended to. The customer service is out of the world and the owners and staff are so courteous and obliging. My friend had a few dietary restrictions which were not a problem as they were seamlessly catered for. The 3 course lunch menu is a bargain at €40 a head, it's not just food for that price it's a gastronomical and dining experience with a great selection. Fresh and tasty food was served with warmth and care. The dessert trolly was the cherry on the cake, the whole process of that is a huge selling point. I had cheesecake and a selection of cheeses with crackers and grapes. While my friend could sample all the gluten free options. We both travelled almost two hours to get there, meeting half way and we would go another two hours again. Thank you so much to all at The Cottage, I'll be talking about this lunch for a while to come ✌️💚🌞

15/07/2025: An excellent center with a large selection of outdoor plants, trees pots etc. Some indoor plants too.

09/07/2025: We had a trip down from the North of Ireland for a holiday staying in a nearby campsite. They told us to visit this garden centre as i love my garden. I just loved this garden centre it had so many plants to look at some I hadn't saw before so I had to have a few for my new garden bed. We had coffee in their coffee shop to help us on our trip back home

21/07/2025: Very highly recommended, especially if you love wine. We ate on two occasions last week , both nights were excellent Starters: Carpaccio - sweet , sublime taste. Not sharp Roll-Mops (sardines) - sharp , fresh as you would like it Chicken salad - tasty Mains: Syrian Lamb - cooked tender and medium . Melts in the mouth. Once of tastiest lambs I’ve had in a while. Pork Cutlet - nice Fresh Chicken - cooked tender Tomahawk Steak🥩- cooked medium ( pink) nothing left behind Wines: Bargylis ( Syrian Syrah) - full bodied Amarone ( Italian ) - mellow and deep South African Chardonnay - mellow , rich , excellent value We also bought whiskey , and wine to take home , so really very happy .

14/07/2025: We were alerted to the good food served here by a fellow boater on the Shannon River and we had to try it for ourselves. The food was excellent. Only 1 person serving but she was very capable, did not show any pressure and kept everyone fed!

04/08/2025: Excellent stay with a lovely warm welcome and chat at the bar with the Manager. Great breakfast. One of the best places we stayed in our travels around Ireland.

10/07/2025: So glad I booked this hotel for our short stay in Roscommon. Charming, efficient staff. Fabulous breakfast. Large airy room (with double & two single beds!), massive bathroom. Good shower. Very comfortable bed. Great view. Couldn't fault it. A family run enterprise, so different from sometimes soulless corporate places. Some décor perhaps a little old-fashioned, but I liked that - there was a homely feel. I wish we'd eaten in the restaurant as the pub food we had was a little disappointing.

10/07/2025: Had a two night stay midweek lovely spacious room air-conditioning was a plus very comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast friendly and professional staff would highly recommend this hotel.

06/08/2025: Met up with friends for dinner at 7pm. August 25 two couples we ordered dinner at 7.10pm The starters arrived very fast We waited and waited for our main courses to arrive other people all served mains At 8.30pm we asked what the delay was the mains arrived at 8.40 my steak was cold and other dishes also cold I gave back my steak and they arrived back with another one about 10 minutes later no excuses I thought it very bad service and food not good

30/07/2025: We were very disappointed. We booked a table by the window in advance to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When we arrived, no one acknowledged the reservation – the bartender simply directed us to the pub area and we were seated randomly. So what’s the point of asking for a name and details when booking, if no one bothers to check or care? The food was also disappointing. The duck from the daily menu was tough, dry, and hard to chew – it tasted like reheated leftovers. Not once did anyone come over to ask if the food was okay or if we needed anything. The service was cold, and the staff showed no interest in the customer experience. For that reason, we didn’t leave a tip. We won’t be coming back, and we won’t recommend this place to anyone.

03/08/2025: Brilliant camper stop over €10 honesty box with fresh eggs & croissants delivered to your van in the morning. On top of this great traditional music, craic & Guinness beside the parking but far enough away for a quiet night.

17/07/2025: Spent Saturday night here and parked the campervan at the back of the pub. The owner is a lovely man who brought us fresh eggs and made us feel very welcome. The bar was packed with both very talented musicians and people like ourselves who were more than happy to listen and enjoy the music. The Guinness is like mothers milk and the atmosphere great craic. A lovely very typical Irish bar, will definitely be back ...

13/09/2025: We just had a lovely dinner here with 6 of us. It’s a tiny restaurant with a beautiful wooden bar (make reservations!!). The staff was wonderful, the food excellent, and the atmosphere endearing. If you’re in the Boyle area - eat here!

21/08/2025: Six friends met from different parts of the country for an overnight get-together,it was a fantastic hotel, spotlessly clean with super efficient friendly professional staff who went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time, I would highly recommend Gleesons to anyone,we will definitely be back,well done all of you

18/08/2025: Very sad to see the quality of Gleesons continue to fall. This used to be the place I would happily bring visiting family and friends as the food was always good, staff very friendly and the restaurant/hotel was lovely. Recently Gleesons has lost itself. Increased prices, food quality has significantly dropped and the staff are not as accommodating as they used to be. Today a family came in and asked of they could be seated outside, but was told no due to staff shortages (5 waitresses on shift) Sadly this was followed by around 8 disabled youngsters and carers also being told they weren't allowed to be seated outside. On a personal note, I used to come in regularly for the coffee as it used to one of the nicest in town, now they have changed to a machine, same priced coffee, much poorer quality. Sad to say, but it's a place we won't be returning to. Such a pity to see the decline. Good luck to the Gleeson family all the same.

07/07/2025: I got a snack box Good portion size reasonabley priced i will make this a regular stop when ever im in roscommon lovely old style chipper with homemade chips
