The best restaurants in Sligo

04/11/2025: Great place sadly it's closed on a Tuesday in winter. I have put the opening hours on this review for future reference.

06/10/2025: Brilliant bar with a great atmosphere and very welcoming! Staff were chatty and great fun. The bar around the back is big and good fun! Would definitely recommend.

09/07/2025: Lyons cafe ......as good it gets, tasty, reliable, reasonably priced. Great staff, great buzz highly recommended! We especially enjoyed the chicken, leek and bacon pie followed by the pear and almond dessert, simply sublime!

21/06/2025: This place does not disappoint. We've been here a couple of times the food has been 10/10 with each dish ordered; from soup to salad, dish of the day to vegetarian option. The only problem with visiting Sligo is there are so many tasty eateries to choose from. But do try to check this place out.

20/12/2025: Unfortunately, I had a very uncomfortable experience this evening due to poor customer service. One of the baristas was calling out all the orders very loudly, which completely ruined the atmosphere. Shortly before closing, I went to use the bathroom, and while I was there, she came into the hallway twice, screaming for me to come out, which felt very aggressive and very uncomfortable. I understand staff needing to close on time, but this approach was very unprofessional and unacceptable.

26/11/2025: We had our wedding Day 2 in The Snug last Friday. Couldn’t be happier with our choice of pub! Keelan went above and beyond - he was so helpful from the initial booking. He made sure everything was on track and we were kept up to date. The Snug is lovely and cosy. Would highly recommend for parties

25/10/2025: Staff are lovely. However food was disappointing, veggie sandwich which had a laughable amount inside, considering the high price, told staff and sandwich returned still ridiculous small amount of filling. The wait for the food took ages before this even occured so I just ate it when it came back out, unsatisfied after meal. No side salad or anything with small sandwich.

10/10/2025: Lovely friendly staff but every time Ive been in they have forgotten my order. Very frustrating.

18/01/2026: Food ws absolutely amazing. The nicest bbq ribs I've had as bar food in a long long time. My friend had a pizza thatvshe said was gorgeous. We will be back. The service was great. Very attentive but not over bearing. ❤️

30/01/2026: Ordered a chicken box meal at 19.15 pm aprox, got it 5 minutes later walhed home , which toik 7 or 8 minutes, The fries and the milk shake both good the chicken was disgusting, absolute rubbish, was cooked hours beforehand, and kept hot under lights, threw it in the trash, 14.10 euro fir a med milkshake and fries . Total rip off, i work in catering so i think i know when something is good or not, absoluy muck, avoid this place.

19/10/2025: Fab venue overlooking the Garavogue river. Very pricey for what it is.

22/09/2025: Nice location on the river but I was sitting there for 30 minutes (!) completely ignored by waiters serving others. Ordered nothing, went to another cafe.

30/01/2026: Stopped at Supermac’s / Papa John’s in Sligo and had a good experience. The food was fresh, tasty, and served quickly, with plenty of choice. The place was clean, and the staff were friendly and efficient. A convenient spot for a quick, satisfying meal.

23/01/2026: Food is usually good but delivery took over an hour and we ended up with the wrong order

21/10/2025: Oysters were absolutely delicious! Will definitely be back for more. The staff probably could not be more apathetic and disinterested if they tried. I came in through the back by accident and took a seat, not knowing orders must be made at the counter (some signs around the restaurant might help in this regard), I was sat there a good 10-15 min with no one providing any kind of assistance. I had to get the attention of a waitress who then informed me of the procedure to order at the counter. Every single person working there looked as lifeless as the oysters being served, I didn't see any staff member smile once. It just made the entire experience a little glum... The setting itself was nice and comfortable enough, but I felt like I was imposing by simply being a customer... I think some motivation is needed for the staff?

29/09/2025: We used to live in New Orleans, La. USA which is renowned for its oysters and I have to say that Sligo Oyster Experience has the best oysters we have ever had anywhere in the world! We had the raw, herb baked and cheese baked oysters. This is a MUST stop if you are anywhere near Sligo. PS, the vegetable soup is divine!

28/08/2025: The best bar in Sligo for Live Music and great atmosphere. Lots of funny and nice locals, great music, perfect pub atmosphere. We liked it a lot and would come back without any second thought.

20/01/2026: Full of teenagers just hanging out getting sick in the toilets so that were unusable. Mixed kebab was awful and magarita pizza was good. I wouldn't go there again sorry!

16/11/2025: Very good service and delicious food

01/10/2025: Lovely local bar. Always fun with the regulars. Perfect separate party room space too. Lovely stove fire during the colder seasons. Pool table, live sport also. 10min walk from Sligo town and last pub before Rosses Pt if you are heading from town. Bus stop and E bikes stop right outside door.

27/01/2026: Amazing food and always exceptional service. Look forward to it everytime we're in Sligo.

25/01/2026: Had Chicken Korma to takeaway this eve. Absolutely delicious. Have had food in the restaurant also. Nice atmosphere.
