The best restaurants in Sligo

11/08/2025: Nice pub and food but the owner seems like the most bitter man. If you don’t like serving customers don’t own a bar. After an afternoon of good food and a really nice server, boyfriend and I got up to pay and had the owner roll his eyes in our face when we asked to split the bill. No chat out of him just pure annoyance. Would be rating it lower if not for the kind bartender woman who was serving us before this. Fine establishment as long as you avoid the owner.

25/06/2025: Great space on O’Connell street with loads of seating. Coffee is great and good atmosphere but I have to give credit to the two baristas Lena and Deirdre who always have a smile on their face despite often busy times. They both always have a enthusiastic welcome for all customers alike and I’ve personally seen them dealing with challenging customers very professionally. A credit to the hospitality industry , well done ladies, keep up the great work 😃🫶🏼🙏

15/06/2025: I completely honestly haven’t ever had a good coffee in Ireland (or the Uk) but we had a quick stop in Sligo to use the loo and grab a coffee, and it was the best coffee i’ve ever had out of Australia. I’m a barista myself and an avid coffee drinking, so i’m a little bit picky. Mo (short for a much longer name i can’t remember) made such a lovely cappuccino for me, and Lucas, who served us, was very friendly as well. Unfortunately, as i was rushing out to make it to my bus, I split my packet of blueberries on the floor and they went everywhere. I would’ve helped clean them up if I wasn’t getting dangerously close to missing my bus, but the two assured me that it was okay to run off. Thank you to the two of you, you were lovely and I wish you the best in life!

25/10/2025: Staff are lovely. However food was disappointing, veggie sandwich which had a laughable amount inside, considering the high price, told staff and sandwich returned still ridiculous small amount of filling. The wait for the food took ages before this even occured so I just ate it when it came back out, unsatisfied after meal. No side salad or anything with small sandwich.

10/10/2025: Lovely friendly staff but every time Ive been in they have forgotten my order. Very frustrating.

21/07/2025: Didn’t have the one miserable vegetarian option they offer (the patty)….get in the fake meatball marinara or chicken tikka, the veg patty is a miserable option.

01/11/2025: The service at the bottom bar was awful 2 ladies were incredibly rude and weren't caring about the people at all and were talking very louding about how everyone was annoying them and even when i should my valid passport and my friend another valid Polish passport said it wasn't us and didn't give a chance for us to explain and got pissed at us and exaggerated her annoyance straight to our face people up stairs were nicer and kinder bit the 2 ladies downstairs on Halloween were terrible image for the pub and because of there attuide probably never come back to the pub if that's the service we get.

27/10/2025: We popped in for lunch. The staff were so friendly and the food was delicious. Definitely worth a trip if looking for somewhere nice and relaxing for food.

02/12/2025: Love the vibes here & they pour a great pint. So handy for a stop off before the train or on the way into town.

01/09/2025: They had a tuna wrap, not a fan of wraps but of tuna but the barista made the sandwich for me. It was a flavourful tuna sandwich with a few chillies and red onions. A sandwich and a flat cost under 10 which is a rarity anywhere in Ireland at the moment! Add to it good views and a nice setting.

30/08/2025: If you're feeling down, sad, or depressed... I definitely recommend going to this place for a coffee. Great music, attentive service, and the greatest willingness to help! I'm grateful to the Colombian friend who helped me that day... I wasn't having a good day, and he encouraged me to keep going, not worry, and enjoy a good sandwich and soup. I recommend drinking mate in the morning, and the ham/cheese sandwich was delicious. I would definitely go back, and I recommend stopping by this place to anyone who wants to start their morning with good energy.

15/08/2025: Ordered chicken kabab and got donner kabab. Called and asked why there was a mixup and was told they will give the right one next time. Really bad and wont be buying from here again

19/10/2025: Fab venue overlooking the Garavogue river. Very pricey for what it is.

22/09/2025: Nice location on the river but I was sitting there for 30 minutes (!) completely ignored by waiters serving others. Ordered nothing, went to another cafe.

02/12/2025: Hopped in for a quick snack, food was fine, although not as good as their Donegal town. Service was friendly, and efficient, toilets clean.

29/11/2025: Unreachable by phone. Online ordering impossible while only 3 km away.

28/08/2025: The best bar in Sligo for Live Music and great atmosphere. Lots of funny and nice locals, great music, perfect pub atmosphere. We liked it a lot and would come back without any second thought.

10/11/2025: I popped in this morning for breakfast and was disappointed with the food quality. The avocado was clearly spoiled brown, mushy, and definitely not safe to eat. They applied a 15% discount, but this isn’t about the money; it’s about the serious health risk of serving food in that condition. It raises real concerns about food safety and cross-contamination in the kitchen. Totally unacceptable, and I really hope management addresses this issue promptly.

04/10/2025: Best alternative for KFC, great chicken, amazing chips, all for very cheap. You can easily eat a lot and good for less tha €10 per person

21/10/2025: Oysters were absolutely delicious! Will definitely be back for more. The staff probably could not be more apathetic and disinterested if they tried. I came in through the back by accident and took a seat, not knowing orders must be made at the counter (some signs around the restaurant might help in this regard), I was sat there a good 10-15 min with no one providing any kind of assistance. I had to get the attention of a waitress who then informed me of the procedure to order at the counter. Every single person working there looked as lifeless as the oysters being served, I didn't see any staff member smile once. It just made the entire experience a little glum... The setting itself was nice and comfortable enough, but I felt like I was imposing by simply being a customer... I think some motivation is needed for the staff?

29/09/2025: We used to live in New Orleans, La. USA which is renowned for its oysters and I have to say that Sligo Oyster Experience has the best oysters we have ever had anywhere in the world! We had the raw, herb baked and cheese baked oysters. This is a MUST stop if you are anywhere near Sligo. PS, the vegetable soup is divine!
