27/06/2026: Great hotel Breakfast could have more pastry selection. Dinner was lovely. Reception staff amazing and restaurant staff are lovely. Over all great hotel would definitely recommend.

15/04/2026: My family stayed in the Riverside Hotel recently while my husband was attending hospital. We have stayed here several times, but this stay especially warranted a review. The lady at reception, Erin, quite literally moved heaven and earth for us. She went above and beyond to help us. She is an absolute credit to the hotel! A lovely woman, the hotel is blessed to have her!

05/08/2026: A few months ago I came into Walker 1781 to order lunch in a party of four. We chose to dine in this establishment based on its positive reviews. However, our experience was anything but positive. My first issue with our dining experience was our service. We waited a significant time for our orders to be taken only to wait even longer for our food despite it not being very busy. We had to remind our server of our order as we thought they may have forgotten about us given the length of our wait. My second grievance was with the portion sizes we received. I ordered the bacon and mushroom pasta which I can only describe as laughable with roughly 14 pieces of penne pasta and very little bacon or mushroom. A fellow guest ordered the vegetable curry with a portion of chips which also came in a child’s bowl along with roughly ten chips in total. However, my biggest grievance was with the final member of our party. As the only vegetarian option was the curry she asked our server if it would be possible to simply order an adult portion of mashed potato, vegetables and gravy. Our server assured us that this would be fine. What she received can only be described as a joke, one small scoop of mash and two small pieces of tenderstem broccoli. At first we thought there was a mistake and that the kitchen thought the order was for a baby bowl of food which is understandable. However, upon speaking to our server and asking for an adult portion she later returned with a second a small scoop of mash and four small pieces of tenderstem broccoli, still fit for a small child and the plate now cold. At this point we had all finished our tiny dishes while my fellow guest only began eating her now cold child’s portion of food. Finally, when settling the bill we were then somehow still charged a significant fee for this tiny cold dish. Needless to say we were most unsatisfied with our meal and service. Why inform a customer that you can complete their order if unable to do so? Especially when given a very specific request. We were then forced to visit a takeaway after this as we were so hungry. Save your money and dine elsewhere.

17/09/2026: Love this place. Really miss it from Donegal Town. Food in Sligo was excellent. Lovely and Fresh and hot which can be a rarity nowadays. Staff as always so helpful..

05/09/2026: Firstly I like this place and the service was get. I had the chilli and garlic prawn spaghetti but was not too impressed. Prawns were way overcooked. Taste was extremely bland. I don't think , for Italian, which in my opinion is hard to get wrong, is the worst I've had. I didn't finish it and that's a first for me. So I'm sorry but very disappointed. My wife's dish was good and she enjoyed it. Good for her!!.

01/09/2026: A nice pizzeria with a short wait. The pizzas were ready after 10 minutes and absolutely delicious. The salt and vinegar chips were also good. The staff was very friendly; all in all, highly recommended!

13/08/2026: Best bar staff in Sligo. All very helpful and were working their socks off during the festival.

07/07/2026: They started serving pizza, tastes great, love it. Must have. Atmosphere is full of dangerous drunks though, but I can handle it.

09/09/2026: Five enthusiastic stars. Our adventures in Sligo would never have been the same had we not stopped into this pub. We went in for a couple of beers and came out with a guided tour of Benbulben and Sligo. Lovely staff, lovely regulars, lovely parrot.

09/08/2026: Guinness pint is shit. Music selection sucks. Their pet parrot almost hit me in the head and instead of apologizing the owner laughed at me with his shrill cackle. Horrible service.

27/06/2026: We had a lovely lunch and oyster tasting at the Sligo Oyster Experience. The staff was lovely too. It was nicely set up and even though we could not get to visit the oyster farm, they had many photos and videos of the oyster farm and the work done there in the venue. The oysters were beautifully presented and were very fresh and delicious. Aoife was very helpful in giving us information about the oysters and the farm. It was a great way to start out our day trip exploring Sligo town. Worth a visit. 👍

22/08/2026: Really disappointing experience. We came in with our small baby and the restaurant was very quiet, with around eight tables free. We were initially told there were no sausages left, which is absolutely fine, but the tone and attitude of the staff member were unnecessarily rude. She even referred to me as “she” when speaking to my husband, despite me standing directly behind her. We sat at a four-seater table because we had a buggy and a baby with us, and we actually chose to leave the buggy outside so we weren't in anyone's way. Despite the restaurant being largely empty, we were then asked if anyone else was joining us and told we would be moved if not. The whole interaction felt aggressive and intimidating, which was particularly disappointing when we had a small baby with us. When I raised the issue, I was told the staff member was “just doing her job”. Unfortunately, the way she was doing it made us feel extremely unwelcome. We had literally just placed our order when we decided to leave because of the way we had been treated. We immediately asked for a refund, but this was refused. As a result, we had no choice but to take all of the food away with us. While the food is overpriced, it is perfectly good, but customer service matters, and unfortunately our experience was extremely unpleasant. We left feeling uncomfortable and disappointed, and I certainly wouldn't return based on the way we were treated.

08/06/2026: Called in on the off chance of a lunch time half pint and was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the barman was. Add to that the quality of the beer (draught Guinness) was excellent and the atmosphere in the bar was superb. Thank you all
