The best restaurants in Waterford

31/12/2025: 3 days before my reservation, Mara restaurant detained 800 euro from my card. The short version of this story is it took 2 weeks before I received the money back...And numerous phone calls and messages to the restaurant, my bank. Mara did not seem to know why I was charged in advance of the booking. I was so angry at the unauthorised deduction I cancelled the booking so I cannot review the food, service or atmosphere as I didn't go. I will never go to this restaurant. I am pretty outraged by this treatment and deeply mistrustful of ever giving my credit card again for reservation anywhere.

31/12/2025: Eur800.00 was deducted by Mara restaurant 4 days before the date of the reservation. No prior advice or agreement was given. I rang the restaurant owner thinking this was a mistake and the conversation began with an argument, no apology. I cancelled the reservation as a result and - in fairness - the money was returned immediately. I never received any apology for this transaction from Mara which leads me to believe they think this practice is ok. Avoid giving your card for reservation. Maybe the food is good but I'll never find out.

06/04/2026: We went a group of 35 people. Booked in advance. This was the second time we did this as it worked so well previously. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was amazing as were the staff. No complaints at all. The manager was extremely helpful when booking, we gave a deposit as we had booked so many tables, no issues getting our deposit back on the day. All in all, highly recommend this restaurant!

25/01/2026: Too much garlic in everything, even pizza had garlic flavour, rocket leaves on DaVinci pizza were far from being fresh, poor selection of drinks. Will not have food there again.

24/10/2025: I love their food, I have to confess that. Their coffee is amazing and high quality, and the food is all tasty, especially the acai bowl and sandwich. In the sandwich, there are really nice veggie pickles which are a sweet and sour blend perfectly. Highly recommend.

30/11/2025: What a find!. Best test of a restaurant is to order vegetarian options,which I did. (Im a carnivore) They were beautifully prepared, full of flavour and very satisfying. Lovely wine list. Place was very busy but service was flawless. Enjoy

17/11/2025: We had planned this dinner for weeks and arrived dressed formally, hoping for a nice evening. One member of our group had more to drink than the rest, but the most dramatic moment from our side was him repeating a question during ordering. There were no raised voices, no comments directed at staff, and no disruption of any kind. It was simply a mildly tipsy lad trying to decide between mash or chips. Despite this, the staff seemed convinced we were about to stage a full-scale riot. Service became unusually tense very quickly, and the passive-aggressive highlight of the night was receiving a takeaway dessert box with an angry face drawn on it. Nothing says “fine dining” quite like a doodle that looks as though it was done by a bored child in a maths class. When we politely asked what the issue was, we received no explanation at all. We were given only vague references to “inappropriate behaviour,” although nobody seemed able to describe what that behaviour actually was. We left confused but ready to move on. I was not even going to leave a review. My friend had already shared his experience, and that was going to be the end of it. However, after reading the owner’s public response, which was full of sweeping accusations without specifics and included the particularly theatrical claim that our table “should have been asked to leave at the first instance of the behaviour,” I felt the need to clarify what actually happened. If that is truly what they believed, I genuinely wish they had said something at the time. We would have happily gone somewhere else and spared everyone whatever imaginary crisis they thought was unfolding. To clarify our experience: • No inappropriate comments were made. • No one spoke to staff disrespectfully. • No disturbance occurred at any point. • Staff raised absolutely no concern with us during the meal. • When we asked directly, no explanation was provided. • All accusations afterward were vague and unverifiable. If the restaurant genuinely believes something inappropriate occurred, they are welcome, at last, to specify exactly what it was. They did not do so on the night, and they have not done so since. The only inappropriate behaviour we witnessed came from the staff, not the guests. We will not be returning, and I sincerely hope the next group’s greatest offence is not asking the same question twice.

02/02/2026: Friendly cinema, plenty of screens. Good fresh popcorn and coffee.

17/01/2026: Cinema 4 was so cold today. Cold air blowing through the 16 40 screening. Outside temperature was 4° & staff were aware the heat wasn't working..be warned!!

16/03/2026: Great place for all things active and fun. Huge bouldering wall, could do with more roped sections. Lots of other activities for all ages, from laser quest to soft play. Friendly staff, clean venue.

20/12/2025: I have to post an update to my previous review. Our latest visit to Supermacs was a completely different, and wonderful, experience. The staff were far friendlier and more attentive than before. But what truly made our day was an act of kindness that went above and beyond. My son, who is autistic, was trying to open the door to the stairs. A staff member (a lovely female employee whose name I unfortunately didn't catch) didn't just open the door—she kindly and safely carried him up the stairs herself. This simple act of kindness has changed my view.

08/03/2026: Fab place in Waterford, with a magic view in the quay. Our Irish friends were amazed by the food. Mariana, lovely waitress, made the experience fantastique for us all

17/02/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We went with friends on a Monday, it was quiet but that's expected in Waterford. The food and service were excellent. We had the best sea-food we've had in waterford in years. We stayed kind after our meals ended and felt no pressure to leave and the atmosphere was lovely. Good coffee too Highly recommend. We will definitely be back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
