09/08/2026: Bland food and very poor rude service

03/08/2026: On a wet Monday in Athlone there is no better place to be than Ken’s Oriental Restaurant. While the atmosphere skews towards quiet — we were the only diners eating in for a good portion of our two hours — the buzz of the takeaway collectors provided enough excitement to keep us entertained. The menu boasts classic Irish-Chinese takeaway dishes alongside several Ken Specials including Ma Po Tofu, which was flavourful and spicy. However, the second page of the menu is what really stood out: you can select literally any meat/veg/tofu from a lettered list and any sauce from a numbered one and get that on a plate with rice. K5 please! We opted for the chop suey mixed vegetables, which could’ve been improved with a better variety, but the few rogue peas brightened it up. A jug of Mi Wadi was ordered for the fun of it, and what fun we had. We still weren’t content on the liquids front, though, so ordered some steaming green tea which came with tiny cups and complimentary fortune cookies. While the cookies predicted lucky daisies and meet cutes, they didn’t tell us how fortunate we were to have graced Ken’s doorstep. They also let us charge a phone ❤️

02/06/2026: Went in tonight to pick pick up friends because I wouldn't eat there if it was free. Disgusting food. But because I wasn't eating there and both friends were I was asked to leave . All 3 of us left then happily. Discusting place with obnoxious staff . Match made in heaven .

18/06/2026: I bought a take away Flat white on june18 morning. It was the worst flat white I have ever had. It tasted watery and weak / like reused coffee grounds. Very Disappointed. I wanted something to perk up my mood but this worsened it even more. Also the collection counter was sticky.

21/02/2026: Not much to say. It's perfectly brings the average Starbucks wuality and nearly the same atmosphere. Its a bit more open than a dedicated caffee shop specifically made for Starbucks. I really enjoyed my pistachio hot chocolate

12/07/2026: Very poor experience , we walked in and were seated at a table,my napkin had chewing gum on it and the seat was wet.When we were ordering the waitress had poor english which made it difficult, 1 of the 3 at the tsble ordered a salad to start which was bland and needed a dressing. The starter plate was never removed and fresh cutlery for mains were not given. We waited a very long time for our main courses to come out. While waiting we went to the bathroom which was disgusting water evrywhere on the walls ceiling and floor the floor as a result was dirty and slippy.when mains arrived 1 realised the wrong side dish had arrived which had to be changed and later edtablished he was given the wrong meat chicken instead of lamb as we had to wait so long we were unwilling to change it. 1 ordered a pizza and extra unwanted vegetables were added. The atmosphere inside was further unpleasent the longer we stayed. When paying they also dont take card which is not mentiined or displayed anywhere revolut or cash is required. The smell also wasnt pleasent inside

11/07/2026: This was my second visit after a long time, and unfortunately it will probably be my last. The restaurant was almost empty, which, in hindsight, reflected the quality of the food. We ordered a chicken burger, pizza, and chips. The salad tasted as though it wasn't fresh, the burger bun was stale, the chicken lacked flavour, the pizza was poor, and the chips were almost inedible. I ended up bringing the food home and throwing almost all of it in the bin because it simply wasn't edible. Very disappointing experience.

04/08/2026: Absolutely shocking experience today. Ordered specific items and got given cheaper burgers instead, lost me out on 4€. Also asked for extras on their hamburgers and got a patty in buns. The receipt & labels on the burgers said what I ordered but it wasn’t the product I ordered in the packaging. Absolutely shocking.

18/07/2026: Ordered food customized my food n got the wrong food chips were cold burger was all wrong very rude in McDonald’s lakepoint very upset about my food ill b calling further on about this to higher up then shitty place like this and my friend got a wrap and customised it n got the wrong wrap n she was very upset bc she’s allergic to cucumber n lettuce very bad of ye

09/07/2026: drove an hour to get food from here says it closes at 10 o clock got here at 20 to 10 just to be told they close at half 9 disgraceful

15/08/2026: ⭐️ 1 star Unfortunately, I would not describe this place as autism-friendly at all. I have been coming here for over a year with my child, and I was extremely disappointed by the way I was treated by the staff. I was spoken to in an unfriendly and disrespectful manner and was even told that I could leave if my child was not listening or behaving as expected. For a child with autism, this kind of attitude is extremely upsetting and makes families feel unwelcome rather than supported. After coming here for over a year, I am very disappointed by this experience. I no longer feel that this is a welcoming or understanding environment for children with autism, and I am seriously considering not coming back.

22/07/2026: A local fellow recommended Bonne Bouche to us and it didn’t disappoint. Classic atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff and fantastic food. Definitely worth stopping in!

18/07/2026: Lovely old style restaurant, lovely atomsphere and fresh tea and coffee with freshly baked scones 👍👍

16/05/2026: We had a great stay at Kerrigan’s. Our room had an ensuite and the room and bathroom was very clean. Our stay included breakfast, we were expecting continental, but had a choice which included bacon and eggs. Young Kara who checked us in and showed us our room was extremely helpful, she’s a little star. Thank you Jo and Graeme.

28/07/2026: Keep away from this place I am 4 months pregnant and I got food tonight and there was washing up liquid going true the food I was back to explain it and brought the food back and he didnt take the blame what so ever keep away from here dont rate it at all

26/07/2026: Disappointed, ordered lamb biriyani.chicken madras and garlic naan. They open at 5pm. I placed an order not long after. I expected fresh food. The lamb was dry and tasteless and counted about 4-5 small pieces. Rice lacked flavour. Madras was about the same. The complimentary veg curry was peas and sauce .. I feel we got left overs. Or there is budget cuts. Either way not the first time, just the first time I decided to comment. Please improve, service has gone down.

31/07/2026: Best pizza I have ever taste in ireland, chips were cooked well , and kabab was very fresh delicious.

23/07/2026: Very good food , well prepared and fresh, pleasant girl serving too. Ideal for a break if you are driving as you can sit down and enjoy your food in a very clean environment. Excellent variety for all tastes .

24/01/2026: Fish chip very very poor. Chips were OK. Battered cod terrible. Batter thick and doughy paste on inside, really nasty.
