16/08/2026: The atmosphere and food at Insomnia are good, but unfortunately, the service really needs improvement. The staff were not friendly or welcoming and made me feel as though they were wondering why I was there rather than making me feel like a valued customer. The staff also seemed unfamiliar with the menu and were unable to answer basic questions about what was available. One of the women working there spent a lot of time on her phone and did not respond properly when I tried to get her attention. It’s a shame because the food and atmosphere are good, but the unfriendly service made the overall experience disappointing. I hope the management can address this, as better customer service would make a big difference.

19/08/2026: What a great wee bar , older crowd , great atmosphere ,the band were brilliant they played covers but made them their own , could have listened to them all night. Easy dress code compared to some snooty bars further up the street.

23/08/2026: The name (and owner??) has changed, and if I could give negative stars, I would. We arrived at 6:30 pm, and there was a sign outside: "Bar food till 7 pm." Okay. We had to actively ask for a menu and weren't served, while the table behind us, who arrived at the same time, were served and able to order food. The staff was completely overwhelmed and unfriendly, walking past us several times to serve the next table and ignoring us entirely. When we finally tried to order food and drinks at the bar (6:35 pm), we were told there was no more food. When we asked why the next table had been served while we hadn't even been acknowledged, we were met with nothing but a head shake. I've been to many pubs all over Ireland, but I've never experienced anything like this. Absolutely unprofessional. The place itself certainly has potential, a nice atmosphere. But this experience was uniquely abysmal.

18/09/2026: I visited Mr Wong Chinese Restaurant in Mullingar with my kids, intending to dine in. Unfortunately, as soon as we entered, there was an unpleasant smell inside the restaurant that made us feel uncomfortable, so we decided to order takeaway instead. We ordered the Chilli Chicken from the Chef’s Recommendations menu and some spice bags. Unfortunately, the chicken was very dry and lacked flavour, which was disappointing. The location is convenient, especially being right next to a 4-star hotel and bar, but I feel the overall food quality and atmosphere inside the restaurant could be improved. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and works on improving both the dining environment and the quality of the food.

06/09/2026: Great food and attentive service. The restaurant also has a really nice aesthetic and atmosphere. We didn’t get to try a huge number of dishes, but everything we did try was of excellent quality. One additional advantage is that, as the restaurant is attached to the hotel, the facilities benefit from the hotel’s standards. The toilets and common areas were exceptionally clean, well designed, and maintained to a high standard. Overall, a very enjoyable experience with great food, service, atmosphere, and value for money.

28/08/2026: The beer was nice. The margherita pizza was bland - the child’s pizza by contrast actually looked handmade and authentic and a nicer sauce vs the adults pizza which looked shop bought. Didnt feel a genuine Italian pizza restaurant.

19/08/2026: Highly recommended, chef recommendation risotto was delish , also we mention there is a birthday person with us, they made us a suprice with ice cream and candle and happy birthday song.. it was such a sweet moment.. thank you very much 💗

25/09/2026: This place has all the ingredients available to create tasty food but having been here twice in as many weeks, the first time having chosen a breakfast pitta, the second time a vegan burrito, the food is utterly bland and disappointing.

10/09/2026: *Update- This location continues to go down hill. The portions are tiny. Find meat if your lucky whilst the price is outlandish. When they place the pitta in the hot plate every thing is stone cold inside. Dreadful I won't return

06/08/2026: Great food, very friendly staff, great local cafe. They have plenty of really delicious breakfast options. Lots of lovely pastries and cakes and great selection of sandwiches for lunch. Support small local businesses☕️🧁🫖😋🥞

03/07/2026: Absolutely disgusting experience. I ordered the Cajun wrap, but the chicken was so dry it was completely inedible. When I politely mentioned this to the owner, an older blonde lady, she was incredibly rude. She shoved the menu in my face and said, "You've seen the ingredients before you ordered, what do you want?" I tried to explain that my issue wasn't the ingredients—it was how dry the chicken was—but instead of listening, she raised her voice at me. I then asked if they had any Cajun sauce, mayo, or anything else to make the wrap edible, and was simply told, "No." I've never experienced such poor customer service. Mistakes can happen, but it's how they're handled that matters. The owner's attitude was completely unacceptable, and I left shocked by how I was treated. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

27/08/2026: Had a good night here. Great beer garden.couldn't get over the gossip of the locals there. The married woman working there having an affair with the man living up stairs. Pure trad irish haha. Loved it.

13/06/2026: Lovely little coffee shop with delicious savouries and treats in the heart of Mullingar. Staff are very helpful too.

24/08/2026: Edit: have to add in possible food poison to one of children from the chicken curry and drop to a one star. No way to prob this mind, but she was up vomiting for the night and had nothing else that could have caused it either. Probably would have given this a 3 overall but the price point drops it to a two. I got the steak sambo, it was poor. Mushrooms were rubbery, meat was tough, but worst of all the ciabatta was cold, toast the bread it'll hold better and not go soggy with the peppercorn sauce (which was thin and relatively bland). Wife had ribs, they were very dry. Kids had a combo which incorporated ribs, wings, etc. looked well enough but the wings overcooked (not burned) and dry. Coleslaw was cheap, store bought and a little funky tbh. No mash, no pasta which are both on the menu (place only open an hour). Wait staff never checked after service so lost out on an extra drink order and a tip tbh (was not busy at the time), Overall wouldn't recommend, we were able to eat the food however so def not a 1 star and as I said, only for the price point would probably be a 3. Maybe Sunday is the chef's day off 🤔
