16/08/2026: The atmosphere and food at Insomnia are good, but unfortunately, the service really needs improvement. The staff were not friendly or welcoming and made me feel as though they were wondering why I was there rather than making me feel like a valued customer. The staff also seemed unfamiliar with the menu and were unable to answer basic questions about what was available. One of the women working there spent a lot of time on her phone and did not respond properly when I tried to get her attention. It’s a shame because the food and atmosphere are good, but the unfriendly service made the overall experience disappointing. I hope the management can address this, as better customer service would make a big difference.

30/06/2026: I visited this bar after it had been recommended to me as a traditional Irish pub. From the outside it certainly looks the part, and the Guinness I was served was excellent. The premises were also spotlessly clean.However, I was disappointed to find that the interior was very bright and contemporary rather than the traditional atmosphere I had been hoping for. I politely asked the barman, who told me he was the owner, if he could recommend a more traditional pub nearby. He seemed unhappy that the bar hadn't met my expectations.As I was leaving, he loudly announced to the entire bar, "She was only looking for a young fella."I have never been so embarrassed or humiliated in a public place. I was simply looking for a traditional Irish pub and had asked a polite question. There was absolutely no justification for such a personal and insulting remark. It completely overshadowed what had otherwise been a pleasant visit and left me deeply upset.I hope no other customer is made to feel the way I did.

03/07/2026: Absolutely disgusting experience. I ordered the Cajun wrap, but the chicken was so dry it was completely inedible. When I politely mentioned this to the owner, an older blonde lady, she was incredibly rude. She shoved the menu in my face and said, "You've seen the ingredients before you ordered, what do you want?" I tried to explain that my issue wasn't the ingredients—it was how dry the chicken was—but instead of listening, she raised her voice at me. I then asked if they had any Cajun sauce, mayo, or anything else to make the wrap edible, and was simply told, "No." I've never experienced such poor customer service. Mistakes can happen, but it's how they're handled that matters. The owner's attitude was completely unacceptable, and I left shocked by how I was treated. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

03/08/2026: Kicked a group of us near 30 year olds out saying were too young, after taking orders, dont like groups of people clearly, very rude

09/06/2026: We were invited to go have a pint. The Guinness was great, the company fabulous, atmosphere perfect.

28/06/2026: I ordered a takeaway from everdish their online ordering website, when i rang china inn them self's, they said i have to order by this site, I placed an order on the night of Saturday 27th, everdish took my order and payment, about 5 minutes later got and email from china inn saying that all their delivery drivers were gone home, and the food order was cancelled, do you not have an agreement with everdish with a time for last online delivery order's, now their say its going to take 5 to 7 days for a refund, a better system needs to be implemented, thank you Tony

06/08/2026: Service was absolutely undeniably the best Ive seen in a long time our server was well able to crack a laugh out of us 2 or 3 times throughout the dinner really welcoming and just made us feel at home brilliant to see. The food was 10/10 i had their BBQ ribs and they were the best rack of ribs ive had in a few years my brother had their beef burger and had nothing but praise for it. Drinks were nice and cool not too cold and not too warm just right and the atmosphere was impeccable really suited the name of the place

09/08/2026: Tasty food but ordering is now done by tablet now and is not easy for older customers to navigate also cash doesn't seem to be accepted

06/01/2026: Unfortunately, Nanny Quinns has closed down now. We didn't book ahead of time but we will in future. That said they were very accommodating and took the pressure in their stride.Lovely old style pub serving great food and a great pint. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was second to none. Beside the canal so perfect for a drink on warmer days. I have passed it by for years but now that we are actually living nearby, we will definitely be frequent visitors.

19/08/2026: What a great wee bar , older crowd , great atmosphere ,the band were brilliant they played covers but made them their own , could have listened to them all night. Easy dress code compared to some snooty bars further up the street.

19/06/2026: Best pizza in Athlone by far. Dont be fooled by the new pizza place just opened in Tormey villas who have chosen the name Roma’s. It’s not nearly as good.
