13/10/2024: My friends and I decided at the last minute to meet for dinner. We had no booking. I arrived at JP's steakhouse and asked if they had space for a table of five on a Saturday. I was informed it wasn't an issue and that they could seat us for dinner. We were promptly seated and served drinks. Midway through ordering dinner, a young waitress crept up behind the waitress who was taking our order and whispered in her ear. She was ignored and then asked us if we had a booking - to which I replied no, that I had asked if they had space to take us when we arrived. She then left and returned to inform us that JPs infact did not have space, and that the table was required for a booking in less than 15 minutes. This waitress was thoroughly apologetic, but we had to leave. I'm writing this review because this left a poor taste in our mouths. The waitresses from start to finish need retraining. Firstly, the waitress who seated us never checked the booking system when we asked if they had space to take us. We surmised there was ample space as a result. A simple check of the system or speaking to a more senior member of staff could have avoided this scenario altogether. Secondly, as we walked out, the young waitress, who did NOT seat us, was being berated by other members of staff for seating us. She was not responsible for the situation whatsoever. The waitress who took our order was the waitress who seated us, and she stood there and allowed this other waitress to be berated for a mistake that wasn't hers. My friends were offered a "we're sorry, she's new". I missed the telling off as we walked out. I would have corrected them on the matter, however i did notice a visible argument (as did other guests who watched). Finally, the fact that there was a visible argument and telling off on the floor of the restaurant is wholly unprofessional by all accounts. This is creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for customers and gives a poor impression of the restaurant. Staff need retraining and the young waitress deserves an apology from her colleagues.

14/11/2024: Had a take out as the restaurant was close to closing. Pri es reasonable. Food was excellent. Had the chicken biriyani and chicken chilli masala with chapati. Best curry sauce to accompany the biriyani I've had in a long time - usually watery but this was thick and delicious. Biriyani cooked well. Chili chicken was spicy and went well with the chapati. All in all a good Indian meal. Recommended!

29/10/2024: Stopped here for a curry last week. Service was great. Had a few dishes and all were tasty! Cobra on draft which is always a bonus!

13/10/2024: About one of the last decent supermacs left where quality and standards hasn't slipped. Staff are friendly and helpful.

22/10/2024: Had a good night here at a function. The function room was nice but a bit dark.

20/10/2024: Second time here with family, great pub, very friendly, great service, food is great, their Steak is absolutely amazing, wife had it first time, I had it this time.

30/10/2024: So many positive things to say but in summary - hidden gem with great food, especially their steaks, at very affordable prices.

20/10/2024: We were staying fishing for a week. As we do each year. Always a freindly vibe to the place. Chalets are perfect for what we need fishing and the staff are most accomadating and helpful. They do steaks and various tasty food in the restaurant and the bar does great Murphys!! We always book our stay well in advance. A true hidden gem in the Ree lake of Ireland.

02/11/2024: The food was ok. We are there during the autumn term break so two tables were parents with children. While radio music played over the cafe's speakers, a young boy entertained himself by use of his phone at full volume. A baby, barely 5 months old was exposed to a children's entertainment piece at full volume on a mobile phone. For lunch guests looking for a peaceful eating environment... This was not it, it felt more like a fast food chain seating area.

03/11/2024: Low level maintenance of rooms; poorly equipped for what claims to be a 4-star hotel. Extremely noisy rooms on 1st floor during celebrations on ground floor. Staff uninterested and apparently not empowered to resolve simple issues. Never again.

28/09/2024: Got a Takeaway, food good, staff friendly but incompetent as for 2nd time in a row full -Missing items which ruined the Saturday night family meal

25/08/2024: The food is fab, the information on eebpage, FB, Google etc regarding opening time is conflicting. Service depends....not like it used to be.

24/07/2024: In this day and age, any food premises should have separate toilets for men and women. The bathroom floor was also soaking wet due to a leaking bathroom tap, particularly dangerous for elderly people. A thimble full of milk was provided for use for a party of 3 people.

02/11/2024: Me and my family went on a Monday. The food was awful, I ordered a pizza and it was undercooked just dough basically. My younger cousin got curry and it tasted like school canteen food. I got spiced chips and found a black burnt thing inside. My older cousin ordered a chicken burger and it was plain and chewy no flavour. Not worth visiting.

28/10/2024: Honestly, myself and my family were pretty disappointed with Rob's Ranch House. The food was super bland, like no flavor at all, and we ended up waiting over 35 minutes on a Monday afternoon just to get our meals( staff did apologise for the wait ) . Plus, it was freezing in the restaurant—we had to keep our coats on! Turning on the heating would be a huge improvement. Not really worth it if you’re looking for something tasty and quick.

02/11/2024: The food was amazing and huge portions, we couldnt finish it and were sorry we couldnt take the rest with us but we weren't going home afterwards. The servers were quick and very friendly. Everybody had a fabulous time. We'll definitely be back.

25/09/2024: Sophisticated food in a riverside setting. The Connemara lamb in filo pastry and risotto was a masterpiece and the fish medley was stunning too. Good sized portions. Only criticism was the very poor choice of beers. One of our best meals whilst in Athlone

24/07/2024: Forget Sean's Bar. The Castle Bar in Athlone is a cracker. Beautiful pints. Friendly atmosphere
