31/10/2025: The Guinness was absolutely woeful, swapped over to Murphy's and it was worse. Stay away for the stouts.

23/03/2026: We had a wonderful night in the Gap House for daddy’s 80th birthday, amazing atmosphere service and food thank you Denise Mary and Tracey xx

08/03/2026: This was a busy spot for Sunday lunch. Had Roast lamb and roast beef and two Thai curries. The Thai curries were too hot, too salty and bore no resemblance to the tastes that one would associate with a Thai curry. The ladies were too reluctant to make a big deal other than point out that it was not good. The lady on the staff said that it was unfortunate and that was it. No attempt to alleviate the situation with a coffee or free dessert, just tough luck that you didn't mention it in time and it could be swapped. This is not the way to win good reviews or build a reputation. In these days of online reviews the dissatisfied customer tells 1000 other people.

14/02/2026: We had an amazing dinner on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was beautifully prepared and decorated for the occasion, creating a lovely and romantic atmosphere. The service was excellent — attentive and professional — and the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming place in Athlone town centre. We’ll definitely be back!

05/01/2026: The worst place ever to eat , the food was not hot and well cook and the staff is not friendly as well , we ordered delivery food is very cold and chips and soft drinks is missing and i call them the owner has no manners and tell us dont ever order or come to our restaurant , the worst ever restaurant we had the food

07/11/2025: Tried out The Wandering Elk today and it was absolutely amazing 🫎☺️. I had a toasted sandwich with bacon and chicken that was bursting with flavour 😋. It came with a generous serving of nachos and dip on the side which was such a lovely surprise 🌮. The coffee was rich, smooth and perfect for the cool day ☕. The cookie was out of this world, soft and buttery with a gorgeous white chocolate drizzle 🍪🤍. The 2 lady staff members were so friendly and everything came out fresh, hot and full of flavour 😊. Overall The Wandering Elk is a fantastic spot for lunch or coffee and I’ll definitely be back soon ❤️.

04/03/2026: Was always 1 of the very best Supermacs around and just lately it seems to have gone downhill. I understand there's a war going on but the medium meal is gone tiny. (See pic) I got a 5 oz bacon and cheese burger that was inedible. Soaked with grease and put together with no love for food. When I dropped it up and told them, no mention of a replacement or anything to mend the situation. Poor effort and a major pity.

13/09/2025: We stopped here while on a tour to Galway. What a fun atmosphere! A bachelorette party arrived while we were there. So much fun we almost missed our bus to Galway! Pat gave us a hello and great service. Highly recommend!

25/02/2026: Mekong in Mullingar finally accepts card payments—delighted to see this upgrade! Great food overall, with the spicy bag being outstanding: fiery, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The nibbles when sitting in are a lovely touch, adding warmth to the experience. Highly recommend for tasty takeaways or dine-in. Very impressed

13/07/2025: Used to have the best chicken balls, was very disappointed recently after ordering a portion of chicken balls absolutely tiny more like chicken nuggets. Very disappointing

22/03/2026: Been here before and left a 5-star review six years ago – the experience was excellent back then. Sadly, I removed that review today after yesterday's visit, which was a major letdown. A few in our group ordered the ribs (both BBQ and smoked BBQ varieties). In fairness, we ate them all, but they were extremely dry – almost certainly cooked a day or two earlier. While reheating isn't necessarily a crime, a more skilled kitchen should be able to store and reheat them properly to retain moisture and flavour. I love corn on the cob, but there's really no excuse for serving it reheated. By the time it reached me, it was stone cold and mushy/soft – I didn't even bother tasting it. It's one of the easiest things to cook fresh, and this was unacceptable. The Ranch House Classic Beef burger went unfinished. For some reason, it came with a very strong garlic mayonnaise that wasn't mentioned in the description and overpowered everything else. The Chicken Carbonara was described as "Chicken, bacon, mushrooms, and onions in a creamy sauce. Served with garlic bread." I've rarely seen such an unappetising, pale, and bland-looking pasta dish. There was no visible sign of onions or mushrooms, no seasoning, and only a trace amount of chicken (and no more). The garlic bread looked decent, at least. To be fair, I suspect all ingredients used were decent – it's just a shame they weren't cooked or presented with any real skill or care. Overall, the food felt poorly executed and lacked attention to detail. Definitely will not be dining here again.

01/03/2026: Brilliant rustic decor, fitting of a Texan or western American feel. Food was tasty. We got the wings and spicy bag, both of which we really liked. Mash with the bangers and goujons was a bit cold though. Milkshake was yum. Kids meal free with adult meal was a nice touch for the purse.

30/11/2025: Fabulous pastries and sausage rolls, however there is a major bottleneck with coffee. Not vey busy in a Sunday morning and still waited almost 10 to get my coffee after paying for it.

22/11/2025: Oh good LORD. Greatest place on earth. Staff are lovely, food is incredible, building is gorgeous and clean. Each item on the menu is delicious and inventive. The place is so clean I could eat off it. And the staff are so unbelievably kind. SUCH good energy and always up for a chat. I could be having the worst day ever and one minute in there, im cured of everything. Im not even glazing. Keep doing whatever you're doing and I look forward to seeing the business continue to grow 😊

22/09/2025: Had a absolutely fantastic dinner with a group of 20 yesterday. Food was amazing hot and plentiful. Staff could not do enough for us . Would definitely return in the further

27/07/2025: We had dinner here last night for my parents wedding anniversary. Everything was fantastic, the staff were all lovely and the food was great. The manager was very nice and the attention to detail was great. I would highly recommend this place

07/03/2026: I ordered a coffee and paid through my phone. When I got there the woman serving asked me to pay in cash even though I had already paid on my phone. Once I pointed that out I got my order. Never go here.

26/12/2025: I went in before closing time (apparently today 26th they close at 5:30 and it was before 5) and was told it was takeaway only, which was fine. However, when I asked the staff member at the pastries counter what the items were (the labels were missing), she repeatedly said she didn’t know, turned her back on me, and continued cleaning. I asked if there was anything with lemon. She said no, but when I pointed at a pastry I thought was lemon, she then said “it’s lemon” — without any apology or explanation. I ended up buying it because it looked nice, but honestly I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for her attitude. I work in customer service myself and understand how tiring busy or festive shifts can be, but basic politeness is still part of the job. The pastry looks okay. A bit overpriced for the size, 4.95€ but the service really needs improvement.

12/12/2025: Warm and food well priced, had lunch food was good. Only bad thing need to be more generous on the roast potatoes only had one on my plate.
