10/07/2026: Nice overnight stay with dinner package. Hotel was great with views over the shannon and the cathedral across the river. Central location. Enjoyed our stay.

17/06/2026: Lovely hotel on the river. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Great buffet breakfast.

30/07/2026: A terrible experience. We went in, ordered two slices of cake (dry) and a coffee, sat down, and before we'd even started eating, the same girl came to tell us we had to leave because they were closing! She didn't say anything before serving us! So, in the rain, with our coffee, cake, and umbrellas, we went outside. It was pouring, and they didn't even let us sit for 5 minutes. Not recommended at all, neither for the food nor for such a rude gesture.

28/07/2026: This was my second visit here, and this time we came for lunch. Overall, the food was delicious, and the portions were very generous. The prices are reasonable and definitely match the portion sizes. The coffee could be improved, and my daughter mentioned that her matcha wasn’t quite as good as it was on our previous visit, but that didn’t take away from our experience. The service was amazing 👍🏼 everyone was welcoming, friendly, and always smiling. Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit, and we’ll be back again!

09/08/2026: Popped in here on our way from Galway to Dublin. The food was good. Service was a bit slow - especially to pay the bill. We had pizza - the margherita pizza was not classic - more like a NYC cheese pizza. The diablo was good.

03/06/2026: The room was clean and the self-check in super easy. It’s got a private parking area and is located a short walk from the castle and river. We had a great stay here.

01/07/2026: Food was Good. Service was terrible, they will have to actually try training their staff. Simple things were done badly: bartending was bad, I was even handed a Guinness that had been drank from by someone else by the bartender; servers snapping at reasonable requests from nearby customers. It's actually bad management really because they should enaure staff are trained. The pricing is ridiculous for a hotel of it's quality. Plenty room to improve.

14/06/2026: CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS...Paid by cash on arrival, the following evening we noticed that the full amount had been taken from our bank account +€100 security deposit. I phoned them that evening, after being placed on hold for about 20 minutes they agreed they had taken the money. I advised I would collect the cash on check out the next morning as we were off to another hotel for the rest of the week. When we arrived at the reception the next morning I was informed that they had processed a bank refund and would not give us back our cash. When I asked to speak to the manager I was left sitting a further 20 min for the receptionist to tell me the manager would not come to reception. Mistakes can be made by us all, but when a premises such as this makes one, you would imagine that the staff would be trained on how to rectify them and liaise with the guests. To say the manager would not come out just shows there is 0 customer service to be expected here on any level. They clearly were not going to inform us they took the money, only we noticed it and brought to their attention. Food extremely basic, greasy poor quality. Lots of slates missing from roof, leak in beedroom ceiling. Pool cold.

27/07/2026: I’ve ordered from this restaurant on numerous occasions through what’s for dinner, but unfortunately one of the sandwiches that I ordered yesterday, Sunday 26th July contained a foreign object that my husband almost choked on. It appears to be the foil top that you would remove from a bottle of mayonnaise or similar. What’s for dinner customer service are unable to contact the restaurant in order to let them know what happened. I’m incredibly disappointed and won’t be ordering from the wandering elk again as there is obviously a quality control/ due diligence issue here.

31/07/2026: I was deeply disappointed by my experience at this restaurant. As a customer, I felt I was treated differently because of my background—something I experienced as racial discrimination. Such behavior is unacceptable and has no place in any establishment open to the public. I hope management takes this situation seriously, conducts an investigation, and implements measures to ensure that all customers are treated with respect, dignity, and equality.

03/08/2026: Ordered a pizza and garlic bread, went in to collect and on my name was ready. The pizza was ready but then they had to go and make the garlic bread, about 7-8 working behind. Another lady also had to wait for something as her order wasn’t fully fulfilled after calling her name and another guy walked out with a large pizza with no dip inside. Pizza was slightly cold as a result by the time I got home

23/08/2026: Salt and chilli prawns and fried rice was as good as you get! Great service!

29/07/2026: While the food and service are excellent, the room is dark and I thought I would have to peel my shoes off the floor due to sticky goo both on the tiles going to the toilet and the carpet on the way out. It looked like food was walked into the carpet. A dreadful shame because the food offering is vast and diverse.
