The best restaurants in Westmeath

08/09/2024: Back here to this spot after a year.... I'll say it simply.. Food was amazing 👏 We were brought in for a 3 course meal and seated and were looked after for the starters and the mains. After that, forget about it. Mains and starter food was good, HOWEVER, its no good when waiters/servers forget about the rest of the evening..... 1 member of service staff avoided our table on purpose to the point we eventually just got up and left after 30 mins......yes, 30 mins. Keep your desert. How sad if this is how you conduct business. I will not return I can promise.

14/11/2024: Lovely location regarding view of the lake, which the hot tubs and pool overlooked. However, hot tubs were not hot enough for us and despite being told staff would be there and to give a shout if needed, once we were checked in we were left to ourselves and had to end up not using our whole hour slot as we got too cold. Granted our visit was in November, but we thought the tub would be kept warmer for the duration of its use and not treated like a bath. Despite the hotel not being very busy we could hear everything happening in the corridors throughout the whole stay including during the night which woke us up. Breakfast was okay in Bonnie’s, we were a bit shocked to hear ‘barista’ coffee was at an extra charge when it’s included in similar places we’ve stayed to Glasson.. glad we went to dine in Athlone town for dinner. Overall it was a nice stay but wouldn’t rush to get back.

15/10/2024: Genuinely such a nice place with such nice staff and service. Very polite and friendly plus the whole time they were all full of energy Lost my lighter there and they kept it right on the bar incase I went back. Food and service overall were amazing I had a great time

29/10/2024: Diner chain found by chance on our route and open all the time, which was perfect since it was already late for our lunch. Food a little too fatty however... we were no longer hungry to taste the desserts because the portions were copious. A single bowl of fries is enough for 2 people in addition to the dish.

08/10/2024: Got the boneless bites they were so dry would not recommend this place and the chips were burnt not cooked right at all

31/10/2024: Second time to The Road House, as I've a few hours to spare on my own and I do drop an individual nearby to work who is in residential care. I'm currently studying for a Social Care Level 7 degree. Paying customer got my breakfast there and done some college work in my spare time, I know it got busy around lunch time but still plenty of seats and usually finish up my paperwork anyway about 2/2.30pm. Sadly today I was asked "Am I nearly ready there" basically asked to leave - embarrassing in a public environment. Pity because the food is lovely but I won't be back!

20/10/2024: Waiting 45mins for food.the women who served us Irene couldn't apologise enough and was lovely to deal with.food was sub standard and will not return

25/09/2024: Amazing quality food, service is very good also, staff very friendly. The only two things I would change there is the background music, for something more relaxed and classy, like instrumental classic music for example, and also some colour to the tables, like a center piece with flowers, even fake ones, to give some more visual appeal. These are just small details, but we will be back for sure, and very soon.
