04/08/2026: Absolutely fantastic experience at The Cloughan Inn! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel genuinely welcome by the friendly and professional staff. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and perfect for enjoying a meal with family or friends. The food was outstanding – fresh, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The portions were generous and every dish was cooked to perfection. It's clear that great care goes into both the quality of the ingredients and the preparation of the meals. The service was excellent throughout our visit. The staff were attentive, polite and always happy to help, making sure everything was just right without being intrusive. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, comfortable and offers excellent value for money. It is easy to see why so many people recommend this place. If you're looking for delicious home-cooked food, generous portions and genuine Irish hospitality, The Cloughan Inn is definitely worth a visit. We will certainly be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mullingar or travelling through Westmeath. Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful dining experience!

21/06/2026: One of the best places for Pizza in Athlone. If not the best. Too yummy be it any pizza. Have it hot. And preferably there to experience the wholesome experience. Very courteous and professional folks. Kind too. The chef once gave me a cook book cos I was the only guy reading it. Their family packs are crazy deals too.

13/07/2026: Iconic, 200+ year- old pub, the watering hole of celebrities and film stars over the decades (inc stars of "Dallas."). Welcoming host, professional, friendly service and great 'craic' to be had by all. Ideal for parties, events. It's like stepping back in time with the traditional pub atmosphere and old-fashioned Irish 'service with a smile.'

04/08/2026: This outlet offers a range of takeaway options in a single store which is convenient if you're struggling to decide what floats your boat on the day of your visit. The service is fairly quick and we did not have to wait long for our pizza. It's a good option for a fast takeaway and it also has a seating area if you wish to eat in.

31/07/2026: I was deeply disappointed by my experience at this restaurant. As a customer, I felt I was treated differently because of my background—something I experienced as racial discrimination. Such behavior is unacceptable and has no place in any establishment open to the public. I hope management takes this situation seriously, conducts an investigation, and implements measures to ensure that all customers are treated with respect, dignity, and equality.

01/07/2026: Went to meet up with family. The Barmaid was wonderful and so kind and helpful. Great evening had by all.

28/06/2026: Absolutely wonderful gem of a pub the beer garden is fantastic, manager was a gentleman, if I didn't live in south dublin I'd make it my local, thanks for the service xx

28/09/2025: Food, service and atmosphere were okay, but overall the price didn’t match the quality. Staff could pay a bit more attention to the room — for example, we asked for the bill but had to remind them again before we could pay. An average experience.

27/06/2026: We've been to Belly Cafe a few times for breakfast and it is outstanding, A perfect mix of Irish and American breakfast specialities (the hash browns are a must!). Arrive hungry the portions are big. We visited recently and it was the first time we felt service was poor, we were waiting much longer for our food than you would expect, and with 2 children it was very noticeable. However staff approached us before we approached them. Our food was promptly made and served, and we were given a very generous voucher. We were blown away by this, and it reinforced how much we love this place. We will definitely be returning.

24/08/2026: Food was burnt and senior staff in it are very rude towards customers and younger staff would not go back near again horrible place

15/08/2026: I Booked Jalan Jalan for Saturday night at 7 for two and was given a lovely seat at the window, when we sat down to read the menu we were spoilt for choices so we ended on duck rolls and California maki to start and had Singapore noodles and duck soup noodles for main and from start to finish everything was delicious and the service was fabulous. Definitely recommend and will hopefully make a trip back to Athlone to try again

09/07/2026: 40 euro for 1 hour of bowling it’s too much, literally few months ago it was 25. most of the attractions are not working properly including the bowling, during the game something was broken, i asked staff member to fix it and it took 10 minutes, after i asked to get extra time for that i was only given 2 minutes. and on the pool table said its 2 euro per game but suddenly i have to pay 5 euro deposit for white ball and it not said anywhere. this place sucks

31/07/2026: Me and my family went here after a couple of locals recommended it. Really nice food and good portions too! We were stuffed afterwards. The upstairs area is very nice too, especially if you are looking for something a bit quieter. Definitely will be coming back here again :)

13/06/2026: Lunch stop on our way through town. We had chicken wraps (1 Cajun & 1 sweet and sour). They were both full with chicken and salad and very tasty. Service was lovely and very friendly, despite being quite busy.

06/08/2026: Just popped in for breakfast for the first time since it reopened. There's a nice breakfast menu and fast service. I got the mini breakfast and to my delight it came with mushrooms dispte not being on the menu card. I was able to add a grilled tomato too from the extras list. The beans and hash browns were really nice and the mushrooms were excellent. Very happy overall. The staff were sound and looked after everyone.

01/08/2026: I always choose Fraynes anytime I have a birthday or a special occasion and I am delighted to say today was the best experience yet! All of the staff are so nice and friendly. I want to thank Bernie for going over and above with her customer service and kindness today. Another thankyou to Emily. Would 100% recommend.

23/07/2026: A traditional cafe. Family owned and loved by locals. Great selection of pastries. Delicious food and lively atmosphere. Place was clean and table well laid.

11/05/2026: Really enjoyed our breakfast really tasty and packed plate. Cup of tea or coffee all for €12 per person. Being really picky maybe instead of 2 full slices of toast if they were halved so 4 pieces in stead of 2 but that's very picky.

28/04/2026: Had food here today, it was absolutely beautiful. Very irish pub/bar, quiet but a welcoming friendly atmosphere. The young girl serving was a lady and the man at the bar was a gentleman, warm welcoming and chatty. Food was warm and filling. Dessert was gorgeous. Very clean premises. Highly recommend. Thank you.
