05/05/2026: Another of a dying breed....a proper pub. Good staff, good pints and good atmosphere. We'd a good few on us when we arrived but once the barman realised we were ok no problem. Would've stayed longer but we were tired!

25/07/2026: Staff are great, very friendly and helpful. We were there as part of an event with a set menu and can't really say about ” regular menu" but what we had was lovely. Would happily visit again when we're in Athlone.

17/06/2026: Went there and sat down.. sign and location says food daily.. to be told they do not serve food during the week. Drove 16 kms to get here. Diaappointed.

18/06/2026: We ate here on a Wednesday in June around 5:30 PM; it was still quiet then. We drove to this restaurant because the menu offers dishes different from the standard Irish menu of burgers, fries, and steak. We stuck to just a main course this time; after eating out for 18 days in a row, you don't really feel the need for multiple courses anymore. The place looks small from the street, but it is actually very spacious. It extends 35 meters to the back. The open kitchen is located in the final section. The food was exquisite; my wife had the tortellini and I had the seafood linguini. Well-seasoned and generously filled. Great value for money. Friendly owner of a business that has been around for over 30 years.

10/09/2026: I love this place. The food in here is 5 stars and so is the staff. It’s like cheers in real life. Derek & Nicole know everyone’s names …and their orders….There aren’t many places left that know all their customers names & what they like and dislike… The food is amazing & if you don’t know what you want from the very extensive menu, just ask Derek & he will pick you the perfect order. If you visit Mullingar, make sure you don’t pass this door 🥰😍🥰🥰🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪 Food is locally sourced and this cute & very friendly coffee shop will make you smile the minute you enter 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

13/08/2026: I had the pleasure of eating there today. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. I will definitely be back.

15/09/2026: Although tasty, the seafood chowder is not chunky.. Only chunks were the 3 prawns i got. The fish is not in chunks! It is mixed in with the small diced potatoes and vegetables just like a stew. Maybe my portion was on the boiler all day which thinned out the fish chunks ..i dunno Its a nice place with reduced lighting which i like.

06/09/2026: The Sunday dinner, half chicken with all the fixings, was divine. (They had beef too but I chose the chicken.) Super friendly staff and quick service.

19/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely loved Spill The Beans! Everyone was so warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The toastie was amazing, the blueberry muffin and Nutella croissant were delicious, and the mocha latte was SO good! Everything was fresh, and the service made the whole experience even better. A spot I highly recommend!

27/05/2026: Food was ok, although portions aren't very generous for the price. First server wasn't especially friendly and got my order wrong. Second server was very nice, though. Men's bathroom was pretty nasty. The overall atmosphere is very nice, they have the American diner market cornered in Mullingar.

04/09/2026: What a cracking little pub the black stuff was tasty as hell. Had a few games of pool with the locals and a bit of craic will definitely pop in again

10/09/2026: Unfortunately turned away at the door due to them being booked for the full evening (arrived at 630pm on a Thursday) including the bar which was completely empty. I wouldn't recommend based on the lack of service or attitude of the gentlemen behind the bar. It may be helpful for them to post their lack of availability on the door or that a reservation is required.

28/08/2026: I ordered the mixed grill for takeaway. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was quite busy, which was a positive. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. The lamb was very under-seasoned and there were only three small pieces of lamb on the skewer, spread quite far apart, which made the portion feel particularly small for the price.The sausage was also very dry and lacked flavour. For what you pay, I expected a more generous portion and better seasoning overall. It wasn’t a terrible meal, but considering the price, I don’t feel it offered particularly good value for money. The friendly staff was a definite positive, though.
